Executive Leadership Team
As you grow your career with Manhattan Construction, new learning opportunities await you. Our two-level Manhattan Leadership Academy is an invitation-only intensive leadership development program focused on preparing the participant for the next step in their leadership journey.
“I really enjoyed my time in the Manhattan Leadership Academy! Before entering the program I had a strong grasp on my day-to-day duties, but after the program, I realized there is a completely different aspect to leading and there is always something you can be doing to become a better leader. The knowledge I gained from our instructors and a room full of young leaders was invaluable and I encourage everyone who gets an opportunity, to make the best of it!”
“In the 20+ years I have worked in the construction industry only Manhattan has shown that they care about an employee’s development. As a graduate of the first class of Manhattan Leadership Academy, I am proud to say that moving forward with Manhattan, I am confident I am not only a better leader but a better husband, a better father, and a better person because of Manhattan and MLA.”
“Since joining Manhattan, I have been promoted to Vice President of Preconstruction, overseeing precon at a national level, included as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, and have had an opportunity to provide a representative voice for other women in our company. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, I am encouraged to see our company have a strategic focus on supporting all of our family of builders to develop their careers to the highest level possible. Our amazing mentorship program allows college students to have great exposure to our company and our industry. We have programs that help develop the leadership skills of our employees, as well as a strong group of tenured builders that provide a wealth of knowledge to educate on the technical side of the business. We launched BuildHER, an employee resource group that supports women's career growth in our company.”
“The Manhattan Executive Leadership Development plan was an outstanding commitment by Manhattan Construction to my continued personal growth. Manhattan has always had a constant focus on construction specific development. With this new opportunity, it takes the general construction training to a new level with overall leadership and personal interaction skills that are becoming ever more important as I continue to progress with the company."
“After working at Manhattan for three internships totaling 17 months, you understand it is a company where people want to spend their entire career. For interns, there is no better place because you are not treated like a true intern or just another kid. They give you the tools to go run your own scope of work. Help is there all the time if you are unsure. Almost every person in a leadership position has spent at least 95% of their career working for Manhattan. That means not one person there hates their job and is always excited to be there. So, if you are looking for a work family and the chance to work on once-in-a-lifetime projects, give Manhattan a shot.”
-Davis Barksdale, Project Manager
There is no better way to learn a job than actually doing it. At Manhattan, our interns don’t shadow. We consider it more like taking a test drive as an estimator, field engineer or project specialist.
Internship criteria:
• Candidates must be enrolled in college seeking a degree in construction, engineering, architecture or other STEMrelated degree programs.
• Internship period: Approximately 12 weeks during the summer. Varies by region.
• All internships are paid.
"The most satisfying part of my internship was getting to be around technology that I never thought I would have the chance to even see. I gained an intimate understanding of how all systems of a data center intersect and what concessions are needed to make things operate in such a specific way. This experience will stay with me forever, it was amazing."
"What has impressed me most so far is the culture. It's very family oriented, which I really like. I really liked being able to go to the project site and getting to sit in on development meetings. It allowed me to see each part of the process and I gained an appreciation for each part."
We
"The most satisfying part to me was learning about how a general contractor functions and the coordination that goes into giant projects in order to reach milestones. I also enjoyed going on site and seeing the progress of the build."
"The most satisfying part of the job this summer was getting out in the field and seeing the finish work come together so quickly."
"Manhattan makes me feel very welcome on this project. They always check in with me and see if I need any help during any given task. They make sure to always, confirm with me what I'm doing, if I need help, and if there's any way that I can help them."
"The most satisfying part of the internship was helping the project engineers with their workload and getting to do real work which contributed to the company."
"The most satisfying part of my internship experience is getting to see the progress of the job and seeing the building come together. This was also my second-year interning with Manhattan, and I got to see my team members be promoted which was an awesome feeling."
"Having a steady work schedule and learning the process of construction day by day was very beneficial to me and gave me confidence going into the industry."
We have many Manhattan lifers at the company. Each year we celebrate a multitude of team members who have been with us 10, 20, 30, and even 40-plus years. We hear that’s pretty rare. What is it about Manhattan that makes people stick around for decades? We think it is because we offer the benefits and professional development opportunities of a large company with the care and friendliness of a family-owned business.

We strive to create the safest work environments in the industry and believe that every injury is preventable.
Our organization, team members, and project execution shall above all be characterized by excellence.
Integrity and honesty must be present in our everyday actions with each other, our clients, trade partners, and all others we encounter.
Respect for the individual and the importance of teamwork are critical to the successful performance of our responsibilities.
Our organization believes creating a client-driven culture is paramount to sustained long-term success.
It is the policy of Manhattan Construction Company to pledge its full support to equal employment opportunity (EEO) for all persons. This commitment is not only evidenced by proudly posting our EEO Policy Statement at each Manhattan location, but also in all aspects of our daily business activities. Manhattan encourages its employees to refer others for job openings within the organization. As an added incentive, Manhattan team members may participate in the Employee Referral Program, which offers an opportunity for employees to earn a monetary reward for referring individuals who are hired to fill key job vacancies within the company. Referral of minority and female employees is strongly encouraged throughout the organization as well. This program has been very successful due to the strong professional relationships our employees have fostered with others in the industry.
My goal is to set out strategies and give our teams the tools to be successful in this business, and in life for their families. We are blessed to have so many hard-working members of our team, because in construction, it’s impossible to be successful without a strong team culture.
