Mauer UK LTD 2019-2021 Darwen

Working as a part of the design team, preparing technical drawings and surveys, improving the external wall insulation (EWI) systems that we built and providing a better thermal quality to the existing houses. We work with clients such as Nottingham City Council or Salford University. My main duty was leading the BIM implementation from CAD, creating company standards and automate repetitive processes, saving up to 40% desing time. Some samples of dynamo routines.

Full refurbishment of a large apartment for a young couple with two children. One of the biggest challenges was the tight budget. My role included the initial design, tender process and build phase. The main idea was to create two separated zones, the day zone close to the entrance with the living room and the children’s playroom, and the night zone where the bedrooms are located. Kitchen and the bathroom were used as a transition between these two areas.

“Andreas house” refurbishment is a Project to rehabilitate a listed Galician country house. One of the biggest handicaps was to increase the efficiency of the thermal quality of the house, keeping the existing stone masonry wall that couldn’t be modified. A new internal Insulation envelope was created for the floor, walls and ceiling to improve the U-value. An open space was proposed for the kitchen-living room demolishing the wall that divided them and maintaining the existing rooms. 6

One of the most exciting ideas for the project was the double space with the stairs connecting both levels which gives an impressive sense of the space and luminosity. ‘O Forno’ is a small neighborhood Bakery. The main idea of the project revolves around the fascinating bread-making process. It’s like a choreography and the owner wanted to showcase the beauty of the process to all of the customers – from mixing the flour and water, all the way to stock up the bread shelf with freshly baked goods. Conceived as a “production floor”, with a big crittal glazing that divides the space and allows guests to watch bakers rolling out dough and working the ovens. A built-in cabinet behind the counter has shelves stocked with bread and a counter below. In the coffee area, the seating includes a built-in bench upholstered and several small side stools. Also, a long communal table fills up the center of the space.

4 stars Hotel providing 67no bedrooms in an amazing area with impressive landscapes close to the sea. One of the most difficult parts of the project was the roof. The client requirement was to create a roof with an aquatic animal shape. After a bit of research, we decided to create a scallop shell roof as the scallop is one of the typical products of the county. The landscape was another handicape, there was a big slope in the plot, The hotel was located in the highest place and a multi-level infinity pool was designed descending with the slope.

‘Eco-hotel in Vigo’s Estuary ‘ is an ultimately Hotel design developed as a dissertation project (Part III equivalent). It was designed as a ‘’hotel for the future’’. The main idea was to provide an ‘over-thetop’ experience joining the hotel with ecotourism. The hotel is located on the top of the existing platforms where the mussels are cultivated, called ‘’bateas’’. Customers will have the opportunity to learn about the process of growing the mussels. An eviromental friendly carbon-neutral bedroom model was designed efficiently to maintain the mussel production while the guests are using the hotel. A main communal building was created to keep all the additional equipment and to complete the guest experience.
