Grooms Corner ~ Who’s Standing Next to Me? Asking someone to stand next to you, and share this important day with you is a big decision. You will want to work on choosing your groomsmen nine to ten months before your wedding. You and your fiancé will need to decide how large of a bridal party you want, and if you need to have the same amount of bridesmaids and groomsmen. Brothers - Typically if you have a brother they are automatically included as being a groomsman, if not already your best man. If you have multiple brothers you can have two or more Best Men. Your fiancé's brothers - Since you are joining two families as one, what a great way to welcome him into your family. Friends - Groomsmen usually begin with life-long friends, close friends from high school or college. If you have reached your maximum number of groomsmen and still have friends you want included add ushers. A ratio of one usher to every fifty guests is a good rule of thumb. If you have a smaller wedding you can also ask your groomsmen to usher in guests.
Bridal Tips ~ Wedding Invitation Etiquette Send those invitations out - Six to eight weeks before the wedding send your invitations out to your guests. If you are having a destination wedding send them at least 3 months before the wedding. Set your deadline - Make your deadline for RSVP responses two to three weeks before your wedding date. If guests haven't responded by your RSVP date, give them a call and ask for their responses. Having an Adults only Wedding - Address your invitations to each guest by name, not “and guest”. Guests should understand that the invite is meant for only those mentioned. If you find that some reply with their children's names added, give them a call and explain that you're having an adults-only wedding and that you hope they can still attend. Get the dress code across - Include your dress code in the lower right-hand corner of your invitation or reception card as “blacktie”, “cocktail” or “casual attire”. You can also direct guests to your wedding website for more information. Don’t want a plus-one - Guests who aren’t married or in a serious relationship can be invited as an individual. Be sure to only write the guest who is invited on the invitation. Do not include the word “guests” or any other name. If your solo invitation RSVP’s with a plus-one call them up and explain their invitation was a solo invitation only. Bridal Tips Courtesy of The Knot
