The Engaged Times
Our Engagement Story When it happened: December 25, 2015 How he proposed: Jeff and I had been dating for a year and a half long distance and I had asked to never propose on 1 of 3 days; Christmas, my Birthday or Valentine’s day. I decided to spend Christmas with Jeff and his family in Santa Cruz. It was supposed to be a very easy going day that turned into one trial and tribulation after another. It began early in the morning when we decided to open all of our gifts with his Aunt, before moving onto some other family activities. I had spoiled Jeff for Christmas and was so excited to see what he had for me! His entire family started opening gifts and once he got to his last gift he started opening it a little slower, then slower and finally stopped and said “I feel so bad, I don’t have a gift for you.” I made the best of the situation and we decided to move onto another Aunt’s house. We had brought some coffee with us in the car and just as Jeff was handing it to me, his truck hit a pot hole and the blazing coffee landed all over my leggings. Reeking of coffee I decided to still stop at this other Aunt’s house to say Marry Christmas and drop off some gifts. We weren’t there too long when Jeff realized he had locked his keys in the truck – along with the dog and the rest of our presents. I was able to stay with Jeff’s Aunt while he went to get his spare keys, but it definitely did not make me feel any better watching the family open all of their gifts. Especially since it felt then men were all giving loving, thoughtful and expensive gifts to all their ladies. We went back to Jeff’s parents’ house where specialty doughnuts were supposed to be awaiting our arrival. When we showed up, we had realized that our doughnuts had not been saved for us. As we once again exchanged gifts, Jeff handed me a present to open. I thought to myself “Really? I know your mom bailed you out”. I unwrap the gift and find a porcelain Joseph, May and Baby nativity set. Again through my head “yep, this is definitely your mom”. The family had planned to go on a walk, but instead decided to work on preparing Christmas dinner. Jeff said that he wanted to take me somewhere special and asked that I just “went” with it. I had to ask where we were going, so he said we were going to visit my Grandfather’s statue. My grandfather was one of the founding members of the Santa Cruz Surf Club and we lost him in June, so this was a very special moment to me. We were walking along the cliff and I noticed three of Jeff’s cousins appear—one with a rose, one with a go pro and one with a camera. I did not think anything out of the ordinary until Jeff leaned in and said “I have a gift for you.” He leans in and hands me a rose. The rose literally drupes and looks like its been out of water in the sun for a day. With the strong wind that day, the petals of the rose are literally plucked by the wind and begin to fly away towards the ocean. Really, he can’t even get a rose right. As I’m watching the petals fly away I hear “Crystal will you marry me?” What seemed like an eternity to Jeff, I finally managed to find the word, “YES!”
Vendor Highlight Mission Visual Ok, so we don't really think that you care if we like In-n-Out, or Starbucks coffee, or our favorite TV shows. You probably want to know what you are getting from us PROFESSIONALLY. So...our biggest thing is our personalities, or so we have been told. Both Mike and Solomon have film degrees from local universities. In addition to having great filmmaking gear, we have a fun, laidback style of shooting in a documentary style. We don't pose you. We don't even talk very much. We just let things happen as the happen, and document all of the moments as unobtrusively as possible, with as much fun as possible. We've been doing this for a long time, having filmed over 700 weddings between the two of us. Experience is the most important tool that we have, so we can anticipate where to be, who to film, and what happens next. Upon the beginning of the editing process, we do consume mass quantities of coffee. So, there's that. But, we also have over fifteen years of experience in putting together wedding films. Professionally. We don't have day jobs, and we don't work in TV or advertising. We make wedding films, and are immersed in and well known throughout our industry. We have been chosen to document industry programs, and we are a donor to Wish Upon a Wedding, an organization that provides wedding services to couples
