Grooms Corner Finding the Perfect Look (Courtesy of themanregistry.com) Tux or suit? Talk to your fiancé about the formality of your wedding. A formal wedding almost always calls for the groom and groomsmen to wear tuxedos. However, for a semiformal wedding, a dark suit with an off-white shirt is a popular choice, and khaki or white suits are often good choices for summer or destination weddings. Which style is most appropriate? For a semiformal wedding, you’ll usually want to wear a dark tuxedo with a bow tie, cummerbund or vest. If you’re going with a dark suit, wear it with a white or off-white shirt during the spring, fall, and winter months. A khaki or white suit is acceptable during the summer months. For a formal wedding, you can never go wrong with a black tuxedo, white shirt, bow tie or neck tie, pocket square, and a vest. Depending on how traditional the wedding is, you might also consider tailcoats and a cummerbund. Rent or Purchase? Estimate how many events where you might be able to wear the attire in the future to justify the purchase. If you don’t expect to wear it again within the next couple of years, it will save you money to rent instead of purchase. What color should be used for the vest or tie? If you’re considering deviating from the standard black and off-white, it’s very important to get the bride’s input. If your fiancé doesn’t go with you to pick out your attire, be sure to ask her the following questions: • What color is her wedding dress? If it’s white, make sure you know if it’s white or off-white. This information is imperative if you want your vest and/or tie match the bride’s wedding dress. • What are our wedding colors? • Could you show me a picture or give me a sample of our wedding colors, so I can take them into the store? • What are the colors of the bridesmaids’ dresses? Samples?

Bridal Tips ~ Planning a Fall Wedding (Courtesy of emmalinebride.com)

1. Use seasonal stationery. When planning a fall wedding, kick off the theme from the start with save the date cards and invitations. 2. Keep guests warm. It might be freezing outside… prepare accordingly! Offer throw blankets for guests to borrow, a pashmina for each bridesmaid, and a hot cocoa and coffee warming station to keep guests cozy. 3. Use nature’s backdrop to your advantage. Don’t miss out on the changing colors that surround you. When you’re planning a fall wedding, don’t forget to fully embrace the backdrop provided by nature by taking plenty of wedding photos outdoors. 4. Share fall foods and beverages. I already mentioned hot cocoa and coffee (don’t forget this), but seasonal teas, hot or cold apple cider, donuts, candy apples, and pies are all part of the fall fare. Oh, and pumpkin cream cheese muffins? Yeah, put that as number one on the list.. 5. Tie in seasonal decor. Use gourds, pumpkins, and corn stalks when decorating; seat guests on hay bales (covered in blankets). Decorate with fall themed centerpieces. Sprinkle colorful leaves down the aisle in lieu of rose petals; carry a bouquet of wildflowers or wheat in lieu of traditional flowers. 6. Dress bridesmaids in rich hues. Pops of red, brown, orange, or gold are a few colors to consider when planning a fall wedding. 7. Serve a thanksgiving-style rehearsal dinner. Serve turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberries, stuffing, corn, and all the fixings for a traditional Thanksgiving-style meal for your rehearsal dinner. Don’t forget to top it off with apple pie. 8. Have a cozy place for guests to gather. Getting married outdoors? Make sure there’s a place for guests to gather afterward – likely, your reception space – that provides warmth for guests. Fall weather is unpredictable, and a cold forecast means guests might not stay as long if they’re uncomfortably chilly. 9. Give themed gifts. Give guests to your bridal attendants that are cozy-themed. Warm moccasin-style slippers or a cozy plaid blanket are just a few ideas. 10. Give fall themed favors to guests. Try fall wedding favors; pumpkin macaroons, dark chocolate salted caramels, acorn pops, s’mores kit to go, hot apple cider favors, maple leaf cookies or mini pumpkin donut bites.
