A sign of our times is the momentum, a constant pursuit. The modern world through an amazing development that we are witnessing, offers a lot of amenities. Along with the facilities of our lives being brought by the modern technology, it increased the number of potential opportunities. As a result, we are trapped between work, expectations, success, family responsibilities and continuous lag. The answer to the runaway, standing in traffic jams and constantly hurrying world is the McDonaldization of the reality, which is associated with a network of fast food. However, if we could skip huge amount of carbohydrates and fats in that kind of meals, and focus only on the idea of places where people get what they want in a short period of time and without having to wait in the traffic jams..? The idea of the project Fast Culture involves: providing solutions adequate to the nowadays problems connected with cultural participation; creating cultural centers close to the communities, transport links, places that we are passing without noticing. All of those actions could result in an extension of the typical culture house’s functions, from one point of the entire city.

SPIRITUS MOVENS

Our proposed building has been created for active residents who will contribute to propelling development of the city. They are not just passive users. By assured by them collective services, they are associated with public space that will invite people to interactions. All that moves will pump art life on Klesza street. Form of our building is a synthesis of Gdansk classical tenements, combining modern solutions with historical environment. The living space has been fully opened, made on the basis of penetration between living area and night area. Supporting functions (bathrooms, laundry room, dressing rooms) were closed at one solid. This manipulation has organized the space and created ergonomic use. COLLABORATION: TOMEK PAWLUŚ

MUSEUM ON THE TOP /PORTUGAL

/COMPETITION

The main objective of the project is to design a museum that will be visible from any point of the city. The project site is located on the opposite side of the city and also opposite to the main axes of the composition - entrances to the city. Our task was to create a building rising over the tops of the hills. Museum situated on the hillside would not be visible in the silhouette of the city. Moreover, it would remain undiscovered for guests of Montemor-o-Novo. That is why we decided to expose the exhibition area by bringing it above the elevation. Highland terrain is an integral part of the landscape of Portugal. Montemoro is no different. The Montemoro’s hill is the main touristic attraction with the viewpoint being the best spot to admire the city. Thus, the necessity to construct viewing towers, often detached from the urban tissue, emerged naturally. Museum on the top is a combination of the viewpoint and the museum exhibition. The structure was perforated in order to ensure the exposition to the most compelling compositional shots. The staircase is a carefully designed and unique path which meanders inside the tower. It’s track allows and even encourages the visitor to stop and admire the most stunning, carefully selected frames, to finally at it’s end present the visitor the history of the surroundings.

We are observing radical changes in contemporary education system which direction is designed by changing thinking about schools. This vision of school shows them not only as an institution which transmit knowledge but also an institution which manages knowledge. Consequently, the schools are starting to be the place where two goals must be set. On the one side, it needs to guarantee access to rich, high quality education offer for students, from the other side, it must enable them place to individual, creative searches which will let them find out which kind of education and

development they want to choose. It is particularly crucial because of intense growth of young person at this stage of life. The Vision of school in this aspect requires creating proper space. Following this mission, we created project which in its asumptions is parallel to goals about which we have mentioned before. Our project comprises two, coherent parts: creative space on the ground floor and education area on the first floor.

FRACTALS - ideograms of African tribes village

Project concentrates on creating proper functional layout based on location and user group. Proposed solution allows realisation of various scenarios involving different groups of customers. Purpose of this project is to organise a functional space in a way that it enables smooth connection of all zones as well as convenient utilization of the space. African tribes from many ages were creating villages in rule of similar components. Now known as fractals. According to this method we are creating a floor plan which has a primary outer ring and within we are filling it up with the fractal rule with smaller pieces. Project assumes division of the building in 4 parts: scientific zone with animal hospital, hotel zone, volunteer zone and outside of the other zones: place for healing animals. Typology of floor plan made out of cubes refers to typical African buildings. The cubes stimulate different activities based on freedom of arranging building’s floor plan. Guided by these assumptions we decided that our building will enable users, depending on requirements of different locations, to create new relationships between different functions of the building as well as using the space according to individual needs. This creates an attractive and inspiring volunteer center. nadwyżka wody

GEOMORPHOSIS SMART HARBOUR /PESARO

/COMPETITION

By taking into account the ambiguity of the concept of landscape, it’s naturalistic importance, as well as aesthetic and perceptual dimensions, the aim of this project was to explore “the idea of the landscape” and to make it as a specific area of modern architecture. Proposed project aims to recover the characteristic features of the topography, by linking areas of land and water: the beach, cliffs and greenery. The new quality of the landscape was formed by simulating the process of abrasion, which is taking place near Pesaro. This allows the creation of a new landscape code - structures referring to the falling of sea cliffs, and a standalone object - the island. The core of this composition is a multi-task channel functioning as a stage, harbour and connection between the mainland and sea. The resulting urban system is characterized by a clear division of space by defining four main areas: sport, spa, science and culture, and assign them the corresponding public spaces.

Pavilion according to our assumption is the space where the potential is the ability to carry out various forms of activity. However, our goal was to be shaped space that would allow future users to pursue these activities in a way that is not intrusive, so as not to compete with each other distractors. To achieve quite space on hundred square meters, we decided to divide it into three parts. As a result, we are creating an entertainment zone - the place of loud, for activities such as billiards, table football and arrows. Entertainment Zone will also be equipped with a position for board games, as well as the piano. Another part of this meeting zone, where it will be possible to carry on with small business meetings. This zone is in accordance with our project is equipped with cooking island, conferring inside some home coziness, while providing dining options. Both of these parts, entertainment zone and zone meetings, connect directly to the terrace, which gives them the opportunity to expand its space through movement apart glazing and enriches them of view of runway. The third part of the room is withdrawn, thereby ensuring himself calm nature - cultural zone. It was retail locations established as a place for reading books, listening to music, and film screenings common. COLLABORATION: ADAM MIERZWA
