SHOWCASING CAPABILITIES THAT SPAN 23M COASTAL CRUISERS TO 80M SUPERYACHTS, ALIA YACHTS IS PUTTING ITS TURKISH YARD ON THE YACHTING MAP.
Turkish shipyard Alia Yachts has all areas of yacht build covered. The yard specialises in yacht construction in carbon-reinforced composites, steel and aluminium up to 80m, but it’s the July 2020 launch of its new 23m coastal cruiser La Paloma that is grabbing the spotlight at present when after a year in build, the boat was rolled out of the construction shed to commence sea trials before being delivered to her French owner.
A dark metallic grey painted exterior is the vision of designer Selahattin Uldas of Uldas Design in Istanbul. Naval architecture has been taken care of by British designer Bill Dixon and structural engineering is by ASTA Engineering. Built from epoxy composites with carbon fibre reinforcements the nippy cruiser reaches a top speed of 31kts thanks to its twin Volvo Penta IPS 1350 drives. A 280nm range at cruising speed provides flexibility.
Compact convenience Compact yet chic, La Paloma boasts a comfy salon and wheelhouse on the main deck. Below deck a full-beam owner’s suite amidships is paired with a VIP cabin forward, both with ensuite. The option of a third berth is made available in the lounge, alongside the galley and day-head. >>

Al Waab II was launched at Monaco Yacht Show in 2019.
Putting convenience to the fore, both the engine compartment and tender garage are accessed via lifting transom steps under the aft deck. Sunbeds and lounging areas for relaxing at sea are provided on both the foredeck and aft deck.
Al Waab II
Following a recent 16,000m 2 expansion of its facilities, Alia Yachts now has the capacity to build larger yachts entirely under cover. One such project is 55m Al Waab II, which was launched at Monaco Yacht Show in 2019 and in July 2020 celebrated the joining of its steel hull and aluminium superstructure.
Both interior and exterior design, as well as naval architecture is by Dutch design studio Vripack. SF Yachts continues to serve as owner’s representative throughout the build.
“The joining of the hull and superstructure is always a milestone event as it provides the first glimpse of what the finished yacht will look like”, says Alia Yachts President Gökhan Çelik.

“Insulation, piping and cabling in the hull and superstructure progressed before the operation and we’ll now be starting the actual fit-out. Together with the launch of La Paloma, it shows that we worked very hard to not allow Covid-19 to effect our obligations to our clients and we continue to operate in full production as the yachting industry enters the post-coronavirus recovery phase.”
Despite sleeping twelve guests in six suites, including a two-tier master suite on the upper deck, Al Waab II has a volume just shy of
500GT. Drop-down bulwarks are paired with an extensive owner’s aft deck and an optimised hull shape to offer both space and comfort.
Al Waab II is scheduled for delivery in summer 2021.
