BENETTI’S 107M LANA REPRESENTS “BUILDING EXCELLENCE”

DELIVERED IN JUNE 2020 AND MANAGED BY IMPERIAL, THE STRIKING NEW BUILD YACHT LANA IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR CHARTER IN THE MEDITERRANEAN.
Entirely designed in-house at Benetti, with naval architecture by PierLuigi Ausonio Naval Architecture, the 107m superyacht Lana is a showcase of all that the Italian shipyard can do. Boasting a myriad of mentionable features, including diesel-electric propulsion, Lana is one of the largest yachts built by the shipyard, which is owned by the Azimut|Benetti Group, the largest private-owned luxury yachting group in the world.
With a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, the 3,900GT yacht includes a helipad, large swimming pool on the sun deck and a luxurious spa, but the owner only took delivery of the yacht in June 2020 once his request to install two Kongsberg wing stations was completed over the winter season.
Lana is now embarking on her maiden voyage in Livorno, following what the yard refers to as an “extraordinary and rigorous amount of testing and commissioning of complex equipment”. Carried out by Benetti technicians under the remote supervision and direction of the equipment’s manufacturers, it was made all the more difficult by the remote approach to working that had to be adopted due to Covid-19. >>

For charter Imperial acted as owner’s representative and build supervisor throughout the construction process and will now continue as operational manager for the yacht, which is available for charter for EUR 1,700,000 a week.
“Being linked to the second 100m + superyacht ever delivered in Italy by the private shipyard Benetti is a pride that we share with the builder”, says Imperial’s Director, Julia Stewart. “It was a pleasure to collaborate once again with their professional teams and their dynamic behaviour in a proactive atmosphere. Lana is bold, unique, sleek and aggressive, boasting high ceilings up to 2.7m in height and mixing perfect experience at sea and unforgettable charter moments.”
Commenting on the many destinations already planned for Lana’s seasons of summer cruising, Stewart added: “Lana has an incredible appeal that will make her, for sure, the next decade superyacht charter yacht to experience in her range once in a lifetime.”
The giga era
Lana is one of three 100m + yachts built by Benetti in recent years, propelling the boat builder into a different league. Coined ‘giga season’ by the yard, the builds collectively showcased Benetti’s investment into new technology, as well as a few notable design collaborations. With that said, Lana’s design is entirely down to Benetti’s homegrown talent, the success of which was reflected when Lana scooped Yacht of the Year award for vessels over 82m at the 2019 World Yachts Trophies in Cannes.
“We are proud to have delivered another giga yacht in our giga season,” says Benetti’s President, Paolo Vitelli. Lana is an example of excellence: outstanding quality, unique style, and an icon of Made in Italy. Particular thanks go to the owner who trusted Benetti for this creation. We are happy to have met all his expectations.”
Italian shipbuilding Lana’s interior is said to reflect the fluidity of the sea, with high ceilings and a soft colour palette. In addition to a cinema room fitted with the latest in AV/IT technology and a limitless supply of films, the large yacht also offers a sizable beach club. Its waterside access includes folding terraces and a collection of water toys and tenders. Powered by twin diesel-electric engines of 2,800kW each, Lana has a top speed of 18.5kts, a range of 5,500nm when cruising at 12kts and carries 34 crew. She accommodates up to twelve guests in eight cabins, seven of which are VIP cabins on the main deck, and one being the full-beam owner’s suite on the bridge deck. Equipped with two private balconies that afford sweeping views, the owner and his guests are also privy to a generous spa that takes in a hammam, gym and treatment room.
Commenting on the delivery of his vessel, the owner said: “I am absolutely satisfied with the work done by Benetti and Imperial together. Lana represents a statement of building excellence, every technical feature, every aesthetic element, every single detail was executed to perfection. I am glad we all made this way [sic] to prove a new level of Italian shipbuilding industry.”
