Alva Yachts’ new Ocean Eco 90 catamaran

German shipbuilder Alva Yachts has launched its all new electric catamaran, the Ocean Eco 90. Scheduled for delivery at the end of 2021, the 27m catamaran will be available with either hybrid or full electric propulsion. With the optional hydrogen generator, the full-electric version of the Ocean Eco 90 will be the first solar catamaran in its range that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels thanks to 200m 2 of solar panels that cover the superstructure and provide power to the two 500kW electric drives. This will give the boat transatlantic range.

Azimut launches new 30m Magellano flagship

The Magellano collection of long-range boats by Azimut Yachts is set to gain a new flagship vessel in the shape of its 30m Freivokh-designed yacht. This new model is an elegant Navetta that revisits the trademark classic lines of its sisters in a more sophisticated and contemporary way. On the technical front, the lynchpin will be the Dual Mode hull, which gives optimised efficiency whether in displacement mode or at higher speeds.

CMC Marine signs Stella Marine as Australian import partner

Stabiliser specialist CMC Marine has announced an import partnership in Australia with Stella Marine, an Australian provider of integrated engineering, installation and construction solutions for private and commercial yachts. Headquartered in Queensland, Stella Marine already works on assistance and distribution projects for CMC Marine’s stabilisation systems, including the recent Waveless for yachts in the 12m to 40m range. Alessandro Cappiello, founder and CEO of CMC Marine, comments: “Oceania is a very interesting market for the yacht industry, and I am proud to consolidate our presence on the continent, providing yet another confirmation of the excellence of Made in Italy products worldwide.”

Superyacht W undergoes refit at Feadship

Superyacht W has undergone a major refit at Dutch shipyard Feadship. Originally launched as Larisa in 2013, the 58m yacht now sports a striking new metallic silver hull. The new livery and antifouling were part of an enormous range of alterations made to W over the past ten months to reflect the ways in which her experienced owner likes to enjoy life at sea. “After buying W in 2019 I set out to not only refit my newly acquired Feadship to my specific requirements but to also renew her in every possible respect while ensuring that she remained 100% a Feadship”, explained the owner.

Multiplex breaks new ground with full carbon bridge

Multiplex, the German manufacturer of boarding systems, has supplied an integrated full carbon bridge for a 38m yacht. The futuristic design was requested by the owner to break away from the otherwise traditional look and feel of the boat. Jan Reiners, CEO of Multiplex, said: “After the owner had already ordered sun awnings and a gangway for the project, this request [for a carbon bridge] came as a surprise. We are, of course, happy to meet such a challenge.”

Heesen delivers 55m Solemates

Dutch shipyard Heesen has announced the delivery of YN 19055 Project Castor, now named Solemates. The latest in the builder’s 55m Steel class, Solemates is the first to feature a new layout that accentuates its impressive 760GT interior volume. Solemates features the ultraefficient ‘fast-displacement hull form’ devised by Dutch hydrodynamicists Van Oossanen and further developed by Heesen’s in-house naval architects and engineers.

Palumbo launches Covid-19 discount package

In an attempt to boost its production recovery period post Covid-19, Palumbo Superyachts Refit Marseilles has announced a savings package that includes a 50% discount on outside on-the-hard parking rates and hauling and launching services (on selected dates), as well as no price increase for mooring at the yard until January 2021. “Palumbo Superyachts Refit Marseilles is one of the main refit yards on the Mediterranean and we believe it is important to give our contribution to the restart”, said Giulio Maresca, President of Palumbo Superyachts Marseilles.

Team Italia celebrates record year

Team Italia, a leader in the marine electronics market, is celebrating the milestone of reaching 32 yachts fitted with its integrated bridge by the end of 2020. Over the course of 20 years in the business, it will have worked on over 500 projects in the 30m to 100m range by the end of this year. Some of its more high-profile yacht projects in 2020 include Benetti’s 70m FB273, which has a full I-Bridge integrated solution, Sanlorenzo’s 52m Lady Lena and Riva’s second 50m, which is currently under construction.

New Logica yacht features powerful Schottel Pump Jet

The new Logica 183, recently launched at the shipbuilder’s facilities in Viareggio, Italy, is equipped with an electrically driven Schottel Pump Jet type SPJ 57 (150kW). The extremely compact pump jet provides maximum manoeuvrability to the 56m yacht. Providing full thrust in all directions and acting as a reliable manoeuvring system, take-home device, and main propulsion unit on a wide range of vessels, the Schottel Pump’s space-saving installation achieves minimum displacement loss thanks to its compact design.

Genoa Boat Show 2020 to go ahead

The Genoa International Boat Show has confirmed that its 60 th edition of the yachting event will still take place from 1 to 6 October 2020. Located on the shores of the Ligurian capital, it will be one of the few live yachting events taking place post Covid-19 this year, and will welcome industry professionals and boating enthusiasts alike. “We are working hard to bring you an event that will combine the highest standards of health and safety with an effective approach worthy of the Made in Italy brand and the world-class showcase that is the Genoa International Boat Show”, sais Saverio Cecchi, President of I Saloni Nautici.

Wajer launches improved 38 and 38 S with foil assist

Dutch yacht builder Wajer Yachts, has introduced a fully upgraded version of its Wajer 38 and 38 S equipped with a foil assist. The new adaption of foil technology ensures a totally different sailing experience, meaning less slamming, enhanced comfort and better performance. The foil aid is placed amidships on the hull lifting the boat, and greatly improving sailing comfort, as well as reducing fuel consumption, while still reaching top speed.

Evo Yachts to launch R6 Open at Cannes

Evo Yachts is set to launch its latest boat, the Evo R6 Open at the impending Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2020. At 18m, the new boat offers an authentic cruising experience that embraces the natural environment without neglecting guests’ onboard comfort. Compared with the classic version, the new R6 Open features a steel roll-bar in place of the t-top, consisting of a suspended wing that connects the two uprights. The resulting design has sporty, flowing lines that convey a feeling of lightness.

Piening Expands Propeller Range

German Propeller manufacturer Otto Piening GmbH has expanded its portfolio with the take-over of Thies Propeller at the end of May 2020. The company can now supply yachts between 15m and 30m in length. Managing Director, Mathias Pein, commented: “We have already cooperated with Thies Propeller on several occasions. The fact that we have now been able to integrate the company into Otto Piening GmbH significantly strengthens our position in the semi-custom yacht sector.”
