Esto le pasa a muchas chicas... No seas parte de la estadística. Afortunadamente, en una fiesta de Quinceaños un error no es fatal, pero si puede que te cause problemas o arrepentimientos. La perfección no existe, pero la prevención sí. A continuación te damos una lista que debes analizar y asegúrate de que no pase ninguno de estos puntos en tu fiesta. 5. EL VESTIDO.
1. EN TUS FOTOS.
Ten cuidado a quien contratas, fíjate que el fotógrafo realmente tenga la experiencia suficiente que requiere un evento como el tuyo. No hay segundas oportunidades para tus fotos.

2. EN LOS PADRINOS.

Mídetelo 2 ó 3 veces. ¿Te gusta? ¿No tiene defectos de costura? ¿Estan los broches seguros? Que todo esté perfecto y que te quede justo a tu forma de cuerpo, de eso depende la comodidad de todo el día. Recuerda que el vestido es la pieza principal. Sin vestido no hay princesa.
6. EL VALS.
De preferencia contrata a un coreógrafo, El te ayudará a poner los pasos y estará pendiente ese día de que todo salga bien, recuerda que el vals es el momento esperado en la recepción y por tanto tiene mucha importancia.
Hay mucha gente que te quiere y te ayuda en tu fiesta, pero a veces es imposible cumplir con lo prometido, desde un principio identifica quien realmente puede con el compromiso, para que a la mera hora “el padrino no se eche pa’trás”.

Pruébatelo una semana antes, y si te sientes segura con el estilo, ya no hay sorpresas el día del evento. A veces pasa que por la mañana de ese día te probaste mil maneras y ninguno te gustó, eso te arruina el día. Busca profesionales en peinado y maquillaje. Vale la pena.
¿Te ha tocado ver en videos una novia o quinceañera que se desmaya en la misa? A mí si. Y es que ese día hay mucha presión, estrés, y si a eso le sumas mala alimentación, es posible que vayas a estar débil y no des el rendimiento que se requiere. Almuerza bien, y llévate en tu bolsita un “snack” por si las flies.
Es un día de emociones, de abrazos y de besos, el maquillaje se va quedando en cada uno de ellos. LLeva contigo lápiz labial, polvo, un espejito, y hasta perfume para que a cualquier hora luzcas fresca y radiante. Es un laaaaargo día.
9. LA MÚSICA.
Hay quinceañeras donde nadie baila porque la música está completamente fuera de ambiente. Infórmale a tu DJ el gusto general de la gente que va ir a tu fiesta, para que nadie se quede sentado y la pista se llene. Eso será un cierre con broche de oro.
10. SONRÍE. POR FAVOR
s-o-n-r-í-e. No hay nada mas desilusionante que ver una quinceañera sin expresión en su rostro. Ese día se supone que es el más feliz de tu vida hasta ahora. Demuéstralo. Con una sonrisa le dices a todo mundo lo feliz que te la estas pasando y lo que agradeces su compañía. Si no sonríes además, tus fotos te lo van a reclamar toda la vida. Smile.

The answers can range from taking better care of your skin, eating healthier and losing weight to going to a dentist, working out and giving your hair a deep treatment. Find the right moment to tell your parents about your interest in modeling, and keep in mind that even though that’s something you want they don’t necessarily have to give it to you since they would have to spend time and money to help you get there. First and foremost, Mom and Dad will want you to get a college degree as well and rightfully so because most models’ careers end before they turn 30 years-old. Nevertheless, the modeling experience can help you become more secure and raise your self-esteem because a good posture, expressing yourself in front of a camera, and speaking in public gives you more exposure in any profession you choose later on.
By the way, even taking modeling classes and getting you diploma doesn’t make you a model, no title can guarantee a job. There will be many challenges ahead that you will face on your way to becoming a professional model and take your spot in the workplace, but we’ll tell more about that in our next issue... Good Luck!

Being a part modeling and talent industry for close to 20 years I have attended my fair share of fashion shows, as a model and as a client. Recently, I was invited to attend a show of a very talented fashion designer. Sitting in a front row and watching models passing by I realized that the same models over and over again catch my attention and stood out throughout the whole show. They all had different looks but what I noticed about them was the fact that they one thing in common – they oozed with self-confidence. They had her shoulders back. They had her chins up. They had a very confident walk and it was so attractive and I thought “Isn’t that interesting”. You don’t have to be gorgeous. You don’t

have to have the most expensive clothes in the world. You don’t even have to have great hair. It is attractive to project self-confidence. That’s what models know, isn’t it? They know you have to project self-confidence on stage, on the runway, or in front of the camera. Getting ready for your Big Party means to get ready to be the center of attention. Can you handle it? Think of what virtues make up the popular, successful girl: her poise, her posture, her voice, her make-up, her clothes sense, the way she moves, and that wonderful quality of being natural, being herself as an individual; the ability to say and do the right thing at the right time, to have total

Bring down your height. A ball gown works nicely, if it has a train, let it come around the dress instead of extending it; this takes the focus away from your height. Bare your shoulders, possibly an off the shoulders neckline with vast sleeves are a good option. Dramatic veils are also in alternative.
Too thin.
A heavier fabric like velvet, satín or moire will give you an illusion of extra pounds. Embroidery to the waist and narrow sleeves will make a great addition.

To look thinner.
With an A-line dress or Princess cut dress. A classic slim cut with vertical lines is also possible. Go with a strapless neckline and avoid heavy and extra fabric on the skirt.
Minimize bust area.
A neckline in “V” or high neck with a peep hole is usually more attractive. Avoid empire waist cut, this brings more attention to the upper portion of the dress. A column or straight line skirt would be great, even a full skirt would work nicely.
Small bust area.

A halter neckline works great for the bust area. Bring details to the area, by having applications, embroidering, etc. to give it volume. Consider a sweetheart neckline.
Slim down the hip area.
This is a very common concern. Consider an A-line cut dress. Focus on the upper portion of the body and waist area (instead of the hip area) when choosing your dress.
Short torso.
A-line dress types work best for you. Your torso will be more defined by having your skirt start a few centimeters below your real waist and ending in a V at the bottom.
Wide back. Select a dress with
an ample skirt, very simple sleeves and avoid extra embroidering to the top of the dress. Bring the attention to the skirt.
Narrow shoulders
If you have narrow shoulders, small bust and wide hips, you will need to bring some balance to the upper portion of the dress with a corset, some details to the shoulders, such as voluminous sleeves and a “V” neckline cut or go strapless, but the key to making a strapless successful is to have lots of embroidery on the greater part of the corset, such as flowers and bows.
Lots of curves.
If you have a bust, ample hips and a defined waistline, dresses that are more fitted emphasize very well your proportionate body. Go for A-Line, Princess cut or Mermaid cut dresses.
If you are tall.
If you are tall and thin you can shine in almost any type of dress, as long as it does not make you look too thin and without shape. The ideal is an off the shoulder with tiers and flounces, a natural waist and full skirt would create an optical effect of volume.
Want to appear taller.
If your height is 5 feet or less you should wear more of a simple model dress. Avoid any detail to the shoulders, such as puffy sleeves or long fitted sleeves. If your dress has a train, it must go in agreement with the stature of your body and not be out of proportion. Try a dress with a high neckline collar and empire waist. Another idea is to have capped sleeves and wear long gloves. Consider going with a strapless neckline cut.
Very tall and broad shoulders.
Opt for more of a simple dress, without embroidering, of single lines that defined your figure without bringing attention to your upper body. Avoid the ample shoulder reinforcements, the cross straps or halter necklines, and full skirts with lots of flare. Bring down your height.

Do I like to speak in front of large crowds of people? When we present our cover girl at

events or expos, sometimes it is expected for her to give encouraging words to future quinceañeras or talk about her experience as cover girl. It never fails to impress parents, judges, business partners or strangers when a young lady can gain the attention of a crowd and speak clearly and elaborately.
Am I modest? What we want is a girl that can carry
herself confidently and modestly, whether it’s what you’re wearing, how you’re talking, or who you surround yourself with. All of these things determine first impressions and what example you’re giving to others, especially young girls.
Am I committed?
Being a cover girl takes a lot of time and responsibility. Of course everyone has other activities, and sports, but can you make time to be cover girl? It is a full-time job of representing a dress, advertised businesses, and Quinceañera magazine. Also you will be expected to make appearances at events maybe even after your time as covergirl, and you too become a team member of QM. People will recognize you and notice how you carry yourself. Commitment is key to excellence.
As you can see, being a cover girl is more than just a pretty girl pictured on a magazine. She is a symbol of hard work, commitment, and modesty. These things combined are more beautiful than physical beauty. It is a privilege and a once in a life time opportunity and the girl that is most qualified will win. It is very important that your DJ represent you and your family in the best way possible. He should ask you about sensitive issues involving your family and friends. He should ask about who your guests are so that they will be included into the celebration. Especially if they’re coming from out of town. The equipment your DJ brings should be professional and be presented in a clean manner that doesn’t interfere with the rooms décor. The music should be clean edited so that your Tias won’t be embarrassed.
