Brief Design a range (at least three) of typographic book jackets that speaks clearly to the content and form of the writing. Make informed choices about your book jacket decoration, colour palette, and custom typography choices. Establish a visual hierarchy of information on each book jacket. Layout the book jackets on the computer, and construct functional 3-dimensional paper mockups for photographic purposes. Your books can be either fiction or non-fiction, but the content must form a “set of three” and the typographic book jackets must also work as a “set”. How and why they re linked is up to you but must be rationalised in your manifesto. A small amount of imagery may be allowed if it helps to enhance the conceptual meaning behind your book covers, but the majority of your cover designs must be resolved with typography. You must supply flat layouts and photographs of mockups in your folio and an A4 written manifesto articulating your design choices.
