Workshop brief Students will break up in groups and design a meeting space situated within our school. The new space is linked to the neoclassic geometry of the NTUA foundation building, and particularly to its atrium. Groups discuss the required spatial values and qualities before the concept takes shape; should such a space be open or protected, sheltered or open-air, flexible or rigid, all including or filtered, public or semi-public etc? Entry and exit, seating, sheltering and signing of the space are some of the parameters to be explored. How do the two cultures Chinese and Greek- oppose or complement each other – where shelter, spatial order, form etc are concerned? Greek students may ask their Chinese peers to come up with an ideogram which best fits their impression/trip to Greece.
