ZahaHadid Dynamism&fluidity Every architect lets his creative capacity flow to give life to her work. It must have been this way the impressive works were born of the outstanding architect Zaha Hadid. Born on 31st October 1950 in Bagdad, but ended up moving to London where Zaha Hadid established her study.
M
uch could be told about her professional career, since she was awarded the ‘Pritzker Architecture Prize’, thus recognising her talent. Noteworthy are the Vitra Fire Station, Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art, Bergisel Ski Jump and the BMW Central Building.

Her works derive from the process of experimenting with leading technology, finally producing an unexpected result giving rise to architectural forms of great dynamism and fluidity, but without losing the sense of practicality and strength. So is determined by others of her architectural references, such as; Landscape Formation One, Strasbourg Tram Station, London Aquatics Center, Guangzhou Opera House and Galaxy Soho. Zaha Hadid displays all her splendour in private collections for great worldwide celebrities, for example, the Capital Hill Residence of Russian billionaire Vladimir Doronin, partner of Naomi Campbell.
Todo arquitecto deja fluir su capacidad creativa para dar vida a su obra. Debió ser así como nacieron los imponentes trabajos de la prominente arquitecta Zaha Hadid. Nació un 31 de Octubre de 1950 en Bagdad, pero terminó trasladándose a Londres donde estableció su estudio. Mucho se podría hablar de su trayectoria profesional desde que le otorgaran el “Premio Pritzker de Arquitectura”, reconociendo así su talento. Destacan el Vitra Fire Station, Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art, Bergisel Ski Jump y BMW Central Building.

Así lo determinan otros de sus referentes arquitectónicos como el Landscape Formation One, Strasbourg Tram Station, London Aquatics Centre, Guangzhou Opera House y Galaxy Soho. Zaha Hadid despliega todo su esplendor en colecciones privadas para grandes personalidades de todo el mundo, como la Capital Hill Residence, del billonario ruso Vladimir Doronin, socio de Naomi Campbell.
Su obra deriva del proceso de experimentar con tecnología punta y al final se produce un resultado inesperado dando lugar a formas arquitectónicas de gran dinamismo y fluidez, pero que nunca pierden el sentido práctico y la solidez.

F
luidity is the main word to describe one of the most brilliant projects of Zaha Hadid’s study. With 330.000 m2 this masterpiece of modern architecture comprises of five merged volumes joined by bridges and walkways. These buildings adapt to each other in all directions creating a panoramic figure without corners and abrupt transitions that will break the fluency of its formal composition. The larger interior spaces of the project are a reflection of the Chinese traditional architecture where the courtyards create an inner world of continuous open areas. Its interior is subdivided into various levels; the first three floors are designated to entertainment and commercial premises; the intermediate to offices, and finally, the higher levels to cafes and restaurants overlooking the most important avenues of Beijing.

Fluidez es la palabra maestra para describir uno de los proyectos más brillantes del estudio de Zaha Hadid. Con 330.000 m², esta obra de arte de la arquitectura moderna comprende cinco volúmenes fundidos y unidos por puentes y pasarelas. Estos edificios se adaptan el uno al otro en todas las direcciones, generando una figura panorámica sin esquinas y sin transiciones abruptas que rompan el dinamismo de su composición formal. Los grandes espacios interiores del proyecto son un reflejo de la arquitectura tradicional china donde los patios crean un mundo interno de zonas abiertas continuas. El corazón de esta magnifica edificación se divide en diferentes alturas. Los tres primeros niveles han sido destinados al entretenimiento y apertura de exclusivos locales comerciales. En la zona intermedia del edificio se han ubicado las oficinas, mientras que las plantas superiores albergan cafés y restaurantes con vistas a las avenidas más importantes de Pekín.

uangzhou Opera House built in China is a new example of the concerns of Zaha Hadid to merge the most robust architectural structure, with the softness and subtlety of the silhouettes with which at times nature delights us. All this including modern techniques designed to favour its acoustics. Thus, the interior of the building, made up primarily of two rooms with a capacity for 1,800 and 400 people respectively, could resemble the walls of a gigantic cave, one day eroded by underground water currents. Of course, with a luxurious gold liner topped with infinity of luminous points that evoke the brightness of the coveted precious metal. The exterior, nevertheless, contrasts sharply with the subtlety of the rooms it lodges. Enormous triangular panels combined with cement blocks of the same three-sided form, make up the building of 70,000 m² completely exempt from the warmth that hides in its interior.
La Casa de la Opera de Guangzhou construida en China, es una nueva muestra de las inquietudes de Zaha Hadid por fusionar las más robustas estructuras arquitectónicas, con la suavidad y sutileza de las siluetas con las que a veces nos deleita la naturaleza. Y todo ello incluyendo modernas técnicas destinadas a favorecer su acústica. De este modo, el interior del edificio, compuesto principalmente por dos salas con capacidad para 1.800 y 400 personas respectivamente, podría asemejarse a las paredes de una gigantesca cueva que un día fue erosionada por corrientes de agua subterránea. Eso sí, con un lujoso revestimiento dorado rematado con infinidad de puntos lumínicos que evocan el fulgor del codiciado metal, desprendiendo notas de ópera brillantes. DecoStile 19

Enormous triangular panels combined with cement blocks of the same three-sided form, make up the building of 70,000 m² completely exempt from the warmth that hides in its interior. Vortexx Chandelier

In the Knowledge of design this whirlwind of lines describes a series of furniture pieces created with the collaboration of Sawaya and Moroni. Suspiciously, fluidity reappears as a crucial concept in the work of this structure that detaches from the ceiling. Its complex curvilinear form emerges from the connection of a ribbon of light which ends with a double helix that seems to be absorbed by an imaginary centrifugal force. The visual perspective leads us to contemplate a star drawn from outside to inside that suspends lightly in its environment. En el lenguaje del diseño esta vorágine de líneas describe una serie de piezas de mobiliario creadas con la colaboración de Sawaya & Moroni. Sospechosamente vuelve a aparecer la fluidez como concepto determinante en el trabajo de la estructura que se desprende del techo. Su compleja forma curvilínea emerge de la conexión de una cinta de luz que termina en una doble hélice y parece ser absorbida por una fuerza centrífuga imaginaria. La perspectiva visual nos lleva a pensar en una estrella que se dibuja de fuera hacia adentro y se suspende con ligereza en su entorno.

Hauser & Wirth Table Zaha Hadid was commissioned by the British artist Henry Moore, to produce a stand to expose some of his sculptures. The result was so amazing, that the created table is a work of art in itself. This piece represents the art of the abstract, of movement, and asymmetrical shapes. One believes himself to be watching pure mercury spilled on a solid structure. Un nuevo ejemplo de genialidad de la arquitecta Zaha Hadid fue la elaboración de un soporte para esculturas que realizó por encargo del artista británico Henry Moore. En un lapsus las manos dieron forma a una obra maestra del movimiento y la asimetría, que al contemplar nos deja un sabor abstracto y una visión de mercurio derramado. Liquid Glacial Liquid Glacial design combines the perfection of a flat surface with the force of the dynamism of fluids. The use of transparent acrylic material clearly evokes a whirlwind of water that converges in a vertex with infinite kaleidoscopic reflections. Zaha Hadid seems to have stopped in time a gush of water that has its source in a horizontal surface, to then close in a cyclone which when frozen forms the legs of this fantastic table. Another example of her brilliant ability in the use of fluid forms. Liquid Glacial se ha conseguido recrear en el dinamismo para que aquel que admire la obra sea transportado como el líquido en derredor de ella. Un torrente fluido de reflejos caleidoscópicos que confluyen perdiéndose en un vértice haciendo desaparecer las miradas que lo contemplan. Zaha Hadid parece haber detenido en el tiempo un chorro de agua acrílica transparente que evoca de nuevo, la genialidad del uso y transformación de las formas fluidas en elementos asombrosos como esta mesa. “I believe that through our architecture we can offer the people an idea of another world and entice them with this concept. Our architecture is cosmopolitan, intuitive, radical and dynamic. We are interested in the construction of buildings that evoke original experiences, a kind of strangeness and novelty comparable to that of visiting a new country. The Mobile Art Pavilion follows these principles of inspiration”, explained Zaha Hadid in this interview, and she was not mistaken. This magnificent building induces exquisite details that together create an elegant and cohesive whole. The functional result of the pavilion’s versatile structure was created from a succession of 26
segments reduced from steel arches. The energy lines converge within the pavilion in a constant redefinition of the interior exhibition space whose walls are washed with faded artificial illumination, creating an optical illusion when fused dramatically with natural light. Completing the descent by this architectural spiral we drop into a 60 m2 central courtyard, which provides a rest area inviting reflection once the visit to this masterpiece of imperial art is over, presented to us by Zaha Hadid. > www.zaha-hadid.com

“Creo que a través de nuestra arquitectura, podemos ofrecer a la gente la idea de otro mundo y entusiasmarlos con este concepto. Nuestra arquitectura es intuitiva, radical, internacional y dinámica. Estamos interesados en la construcción de edificios que evocan experiencias originales, una especie de extrañeza y novedad comparable a la de visitar un país nuevo. El Pabellón de arte móvil sigue estos principios de inspiración” explicó Zaha Hadid en una entrevista y no se equivocaba. Esta magnífica edificación evoca detalles exquisitos que juntos crean un todo elegante y cohesivo. El funcional resultante de la estructura versátil del pabellón, se ha creado a partir de
una sucesión de segmentos reducidos con arcos de acero. Las líneas de energía convergen dentro del pabellón, en una constante redefinición del espacio de exposición interior, cuyas paredes están lavadas por una difuminada luz artificial, creando una ilusión óptica cuando se fusiona dramáticamente con la luz natural. From this marvellous discovery, Dixon’s imagination has been shared throughout his professional career with other designers such as, Swarovski, Jean Paul Gaultier or Ralph Lauren among others. Milan 2012. Tom Dixon presents ‘Luminosity’ His last work was exhibited in the MOST (Museum of Science and Technology) in the Leonardo da Vinci. As is custom every year, the firm attended the International Furniture Fair in Milan, where ‘Luminosity’ was presented. The idea of this collection is to inspire future lines of décor style, creating a natural atmosphere, leaving behind older concepts of artificial light. The use of advanced technology and the versatility of materials prevail in this work principally focused on harmonizing aesthetics with its particular way of understanding light. Since he initiated with his first study ‘Space’, Tom Dixon has works displayed in museums worldwide where he was appointed head of design for the world renowned furniture and décor company, ‘Habitat’.

Not lacking in his style, Tom Dixon’s study has recreated a traditional British games room which is revealed in items such as a typical plastered wall replete with books, as well as the classic plush upholstery. These traditional details contrast with the introduction to contemporary elements emphasizing on the blue chalk colour, that momentarily transports one to the blue Moroccan village of ‘Chaouen’ and a mirrored corridor, that project giving form to the gallery. Without doubt, art can be presented in many different ways aspiring to reach the sensitivity of those who contemplate it. However when functionality merges with good taste, real art acquires a new dimension, and this Tom Dixon obtains by far.
Otro de los trabajos más interesantes del diseñador es el que ha desarrollado a través de “Design Research Studio”, en la reforma del exclusivo bar de piscina situado en el interior de un lujoso edificio ubicado en el distrito de Hong Kong, combinando materiales fríos como el metal y la calidez de las maderas nobles. Para no faltar a su estilo, el estudio de Tom Dixon ha recreado una sala de juegos tradicional británica que se descubre en elementos como una característica pared de yeso repleta de libros, así como la clásica tapicería de felpa. Estos detalles tradicionales contrastan con la introducción de elementos contemporáneos, destacando el color azul tiza, nos transporta momentáneamente al pueblo azul marroquí de Chaouen, y un corredor de espejos, que se proyectan dando forma a una galería. Sin duda, el arte puede presentarse de muy diversas maneras, y aspira a llegar a la sensibilidad de aquellas personas que lo contemplan. DECO NEWS 1st Golf Tournament I Torneo de Golf Mobile & Diseño On the 20th October the 1st Golf Tournament ‘Mobile & Diseño’ was held at the Aloha Golf Club in Nueva Andalucía, Marbella.
El pasado 20/10/12 se celebró el I Torneo de Golf Mobile & Diseño en el club de golf Aloha, en Nueva Andalucía (Marbella). De modalidad stableford, el Torneo contó con una participación de más de 130 jugadores, que mostraron un gran nivel de juego. Hubo premios para las 2 categorías de caballeros, para la categoría de señoras, a la bola más cerca, incluso un premio que finalmente quedó desierto consistente en un espectacular piano de la marca Fendi para quién lograra realizar un hoyo en uno. Entre los premios, además de los trofeos, destacar dos exclusivas mantas de la marca Fendi que encantaron por su cuidadísimo diseño. Durante la entrega de premios a los primeros clasificados, se sirvió en el restaurante del club un delicioso catering para todos los asistentes, incluyéndose valiosos sorteos. In Stableford format the Tournament attracted a participation of more than 130 players which showed a great level of play. There were prizes given also to the 2 categories in the male section, for the women’s category to the nearest ball, and there was even a prize that eventually remained void consisting in a spectacular Fendi piano for whom succeeding in making a hole in one. Among the prizes and in addition to the trophies, highlight two exclusive Fendi blankets which were loved for their trendy design. During the presentation of prizes to the first classified, a delicious catering was served in the club’s restaurant for all those present. My mind is in a permanent state of creation, not only professionally but on a personal level too.” Polo ensures that each one of his works is independent of the other, and therefore does not maintain a continuous line in his collections. His persistent determination to communicate through his work has led him to assert that, “it could be said that each project is linked to a story.”

One of the distinguished features of this extraordinary interior designer is that his projects are always influenced by the cultural surroundings in which they are developed, searching for the origin of the point he aims to dress. In love with photography, which he does not discard dedicating himself to in a near future, Nacho Polo finds one of his most difficult challenges; to remain on the margin of other authors’ influence , “it’s complicated maintaining the mind clear, in order to create something unique”, he assures. This dreamer who works with a select group of clients from the USA, Asia and Europe, directs all his effort in ‘creating a design language’. Basically supported in a marvellous combination of black and white, he obtains elegance and luxury staying minimalist and at the same time austere. A challenge only within the reach of the most talented designers.

Apoyado básicamente en una maravillosa combinación del blanco y el negro, obtiene la elegancia y el lujo, manteniéndose austero y simple al mismo tiempo. Un desafío sólo al alcance de los diseñadores más talentosos. El gran mérito de Nacho Polo consiste en sugerir sensualidad y provocación partiendo de una pureza conceptual. Y esto
puede apreciarse en el trabajo realizado en una vivienda de su propiedad construida al comienzo del siglo XIX en Madrid. “El primer paso”, según palabras del propio diseñador, “fue investigar sobre la historia de la vivienda, y actuar en consecuencia con su pasado. Se trataba de fusionar un nuevo aspecto fresco e innovador respetando su propia historia”. El resultado es un espacio claro y nítido, pero sin ser frío o estéril. En definitiva, este ejercicio de equilibrio visual sugiere un lugar donde a uno le gustaría quedarse dormido, para luego despertar en él… DecoStile 79

This can be seen in the work done in one of his own homes built in the beginning of the XIX century in Madrid. “The first step”, according the designer himself “was to investigate the history of the dwelling and act consequently to its past. It was a question of fusing a new, fresh and innovative aspect, respecting its own character.” The result is a clear and bright space, but without being cold or bare.

Dutch-born Marcel Wanders has been awarded on various occasions for the style of his clean lines and the practicality of his work.
Inspiration to decorate the hotel struck him whilst in the library admiring pictures of the ancient Amsterdam. A refelection of this are some of the graphic elements that appear on the wallpaper of this room. 84

At the same time in the remaining rooms he manages to integrate part of the region’s patrimony, which are recalled through the orange colour of the tulips and the Delft blue, enhancing the rich and cultural character of the city. It is obliged to mention the artistic touch which Wanders granted when incorporating a collection of forty unique pieces of video-art which represent a vision of traditional art.
El Holandés Marcel Wanders ha sido galardonado en varias ocasiones por su estilo de líneas limpias y la practicidad de sus trabajos. Su inspiración para decorar el hotel le sobrevino en la biblioteca admirando imágenes de la antigua Amsterdam. Reflejo de ello, son algunos elementos gráficos que aparecen en papel pintado que reviste las paredes de esta sala. Al mismo tiempo en el resto de estancias consigue integrar partes del patrimonio de la región que se rememoran, a través de los colores naranja de los tulipanes y el azul Delft, potenciando el carácter cultural y enriquecedor de la ciudad. Es de obligada mención el toque artístico que Wanders otorgó al incorporar una colección de 40 obras únicas de video-arte que representan una visión del arte tradicional.

uring the event the stores remained open for those present to learn first-hand the firm’s new creations, always forefront in decoration tendencies. Furniture, sofas, accessories… all designed to be customised and adapted according to new proposals. In the three areas that compose the stores, Gomez and Molina exhibited some of their pieces, such as party dresses from the Nahmad Showroom. Diverse models of top-of-the-range automobiles were displayed in the exterior. Together with this, also presented exclusively was the Donnas del Mundo Collection from the Artenovum Group. Undoubtedly, a special event for approaching the savourfaire, the creativity and innovation of Roche Bobois, Marbella, premise of its concept of the art of living. 86

перный театр Гуанчжоу, построенный в Китае, это новый образец креативности и изобретательности Захи Хадид. Благодаря этим своим талантам она смогла совместить самые внушительные архитектурные структуры с мягкостью и изысканностью силуэтов, которыми иногда нас радует природа и все это интегрируя самые современные акустические техники; поэтому этот зал стал одним из самых впечатляющих зрительских помещений в мире.

Внутреннее пространство здания, составленное главным образом двумя залами, которые обладают вместительностью на 1.800 и 400человек, уподобляется стенам гигантской пещеры, со временем потвергшихся силе подводных течений. Этот мистичиский образ выполнен с роскошной золотистой облицовкой, завершенной бесконечным количеством изысканных подсветок, которые оживляют сверкание желанного драгоценного металла. Внешний дизайн здания, однако, сильно контрастирует с утонченностью залов. Огромные треугольные панели, комбинированные с блоками из цемента той же трехсторонней формы, создают 70.000-метровое здание, поражающее своим футуристическим дизайном и напрочь лишенное особой теплоты, которая наполняет интерьер. 38

Это великолепное здание наполнено изящными деталями, которые вместе создают утонченное целое. Эффективность функционального результата павильона достигнута с помощью универсальной структуры последовательных сегментов стальных арок. Энергетические линии, плавно сходясь в павильоне,предопределяют интерьер выставочного пространства, стены которого усеянны элегантной подсветкой, свет которой, сливаясь с натуральным освещением создает эффект оптического обмана. Завершая наш визит мы спускаемся в 60-ти метровый центральный внутренний двор, в котором посетитель может насладится отдыхом созерцая этот шедевр имперского архитектупного искусства, представленного нам Захой Хадид.
