Romeo and Juliet

Romeo and Juliet Why is Romeo and Juliet so popular? Personally i believe that Romeo and Juliet is famous not only for the author but also because for that time, love stories where always nice and with a happy ending, not like this one that the two main characters face a really ignorant (because they were very young) and unnecessary death. Also i think it’s very popular because it shows what people can do for love because even in the hardest and extreme moments, they want to be with each other no matter what.

Romeo and Juliet What themes are explored? I think that almost everyone can agree that the main theme in this story is love because in this story we see the different kinds of love and how they are managed. For example we can see unrequited love at the beginning of the story because Romeo was in love with a girl called Rosaline, but she didn’t wanted to be with him and that made Romeo very sad. Also we have the part of the romantic love that we see with our main characters, this kind of love is very important in this story because guides the decisions that Romeo and Juliet make, and even though they’re very young, they don’t care and they will do whatever it takes to be together. It is important to mention the parental love that has this story, because in this story this kind of love is not given by the parents of each person, but by people who help and try to understand the main character, like the nourse (at the beginning) and the frial. Also we can see an important theme that is cover is hate, because hate was the starting point of this hole problem and caused that two young people ended up death. If the families of Montague and Capulet didn’t hated each other, Romeo and Juliet could have been happy without any trouble and also because they were so young they needed guidance from their families, but they were too busy hating and fighting each other.

Romeo and Juliet What characteristics of the period appear in this work?

One of the most noticeable characteristics in this play about the period is the marriage that was going to happen between Juliet and Paris, because in those times marriage was decided by the parents and not the sons or the daughters, and also marriage was at a really early age. Something that is very important are the types of activities and clothes that they use in the story, for example at the beginning when they are at the dance party in the Capulet’s place, because the clothes and the environment that they are having at that moment shows a lot of things related to the time.
