SOBRE MI ABOUT ME
E
stas páginas nacen de mi interés por mostrar mi forma de entender la arquitectura y los conocimientos que he adquirido tanto durante mis años de estudiante en la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia como durante mis estancias en estudios de arquitectura y diseño.
La arquitectura es para mí la necesidad de crear espacios capaces de satisfacer las necesidades de las personas y sobre todo de despertar emociones en ellas. Mi objetivo ha sido crear una recopilación de proyectos capaces por si mismos de mostrar mi interés por distintas áreas de la arquitectura así como por el diseño y la fotografía. Mis estancias en el extranjero y las colaboraciones que allí realice con distintos profesionales me han permitido tener una visión global del proceso de creación y adquirir una capacidad extra de trabajo bajo presión en equipos internacionales y multidisciplinares. Siempre abierta a nuevas oportunidades y proyectos seguiré aprendiendo, descubriendo y dando lo mejor de mí misma a cada paso.
The aim of these pages is to show my way of understanding architecture & the knowledge I have acquired both during my studies at the Polytechnic University of Valencia & during my collaborations with architecture & design studios. I would describe architecture as the need to create spaces to, on one hand, satisfy the needs of people, and on the other, to awaken emotions within them. My goal was to create a compilation of projects to show my interest in not only different fields of architecture, but also in design & photography. Both my time spent abroad and the collaborations I have had with different professionals have given me a global view of the creative process and the capacity to work under pressure and within international teams. I am eager to discover, learn, and give my best to what I love.

REGENERACION HISTORICA REGENERATE A HISTORIC SITE

l Cabañal es un antiguo pueblo costero en la ciudad de Valencia. A pesar de su mal estado de conservación sigue conservando el encanto del pueblo de pescadores que un día fue. El objetivo de esta intervención parte de la base de la regeneración del espacio a partir de la regeneración de una edificación existente.
La importancia del proyecto reside en su relación con el entorno en el que está desarrollado. Como resultado del desorganizado crecimiento del tejido urbano en la zona de intervención encontramos en nuestro entorno próximo muchos condicionantes que aprovechare para desarrollar mi intervención como explicare más adelante. La luz se convierte en protagonista iluminando el ambiente de noche a partir de cuatro volúmenes prismáticos que actúan como linternas y permitiendo crear luminosos espacios de trabajo entre ellos gracias a su translucida fachada. Una franja longitudinal cose la intervención llegando a cubrir la fachada del edificio anexo sin modificar ningún elemento estructural al estilo de Lacaton & Vasal en Paris.
El Cabañal in Valencia is an old neighborhood in the coastal zone of the city. Although the neighborhood is in bad shape, it has the charm of a small fishing village. In order to bring life back again to the neighborhood, I regenerated a pre-existing building. The importance of this project lies in its relationship with the environment where it was developed. As a result of the uncontrolled urban growth in my intervention area, the starting point of this project was to develop my work based on the preexistent urban factors. Light becomes the most important element. Four prismatic elements illuminate the area during the night while they absorb it during the day in order to create luminous work spaces. A linear building acts as a long spine joining the prisms & covering as well the façade of a residential building, not modifying any structural element (like Lacaton & Vassal did in Paris).

Su diseño permite evacuar el agua de lluvia por sí mismo y a su vez crear un atractivo y a mplio espacio interior Además adata el proyecto a la complicada mor fología del entorno & consigue llevar la idea inicial a todas las escalas del proyecto con esos estrechamientos y ensanchamientos.

The façade system includes structure, installations & solar protection. It is able to release rainwater by itself while setting up an attractive and clear interior space. Furthermore, it adapts the project to the complex morphology of the area & represents the project idea with the constrictions & widenings.
Diseñé dos versiones de este sistema. La primera se formaliza como una doble piel formada por un vidrio de seguridad y chapa per forada. La segunda consiste en una solución de panel sándwich que albergará la sala de conferencias y la zona de exposiciones, donde es necesario un mayor control solar. I developed two versions of the system. The first one is built for the work space, a double layer consisting of a security glass and a per forated sheet. The second one, a sandwich panel solution, is designed for the conference room and the exhibition area, where a comprehensive solar control is needed.

HACIA L A CIU DA D VERDE TOWAR DS THE GR EEN C ITY

La contaminación, tanto atmosférica como acústica o visual, ha aumentado preocupantemente en nuestras ciudades debido a la rápida industrialización a la que nos llevó el siglo XIX. Durante años olvidamos el lema de la ciudad verde a favor del boom inmobiliario y comenzamos a construir en vertical olvidándonos de la escala humana.
El proyecto se ubica en Milán, la ciudad gris. Se trata de una de las ciudades más industrializadas y contaminadas del mundo, donde mejorar las condiciones urbanas a través de la inclusión de zonas verdes resulta imprescindible. Nos encontramos en un vacío urbano cerca de la parada de metro Udine, una zona que ha caído en desuso debido a la falta de planificación urbanística. En un primer análisis establecí las características con las que debía contar el espacio. Un lugar donde distintos tipos de personas pudieran convivir y realizar actividades de distinto ámbito sin molestar al resto. Surge así un juego geométrico que crea espacios a distintas alturas y permite las visuales en unas direcciones y las evita en otras según el uso asignado a cada una.
As cities grow, so do pollution, noise and climate change. Due to the fast & uncontrolled growth of our cities & the era of industrialization, we stopped focusing on the idea of the green city and instead directed our attention on the real estate boom. This project is located in an empty urban space in Milan, the grey city. An urban vacuum provides innumerable options to flee from dull and often oppressive urban planning. I started the analysis by establishing the characteristics that a green urban area should have. It had to be a place where everyone can indulge in their own activities without disturbing others. This is why I designed a park where separate areas are divided by different heights. This creates a geometrical game that allows views in some directions while preventing them in others.

COLABORACIÓN CIUDADANA MAKE PEOPLE TAKE PART OF IT

aasneere es una población de Burkina Faso asentada en el camino que une las ciudades de Kongoussi & Kaya. El proyecto se ha llevado a cabo gracias al esfuerzo de la asociación Algemesí Solidari y su ánimo de mejor la vida de esta población hermanada con ellos.
El proyecto consiste en la construcción de una escuela de secundaria para la población de Basneere basándonos en las construcciones características de la zona, las cabañas de morfología circular y sus cúpulas, en un intento de preservar la tipología constructiva autóctona mejorando sus características técnicas. La Universidad Politécnica de Valencia aceptó el reto con la suerte de contar con uno de los colaboradores del estudio de Francis Keré como guía a la hora de afrontar la intervención en un ecosistema tan distinto al nuestro. Todos los borradores que salieron de este workshop han sido utilizados en la elaboración del proyecto definitivo para su posterior construcción. Un proyecto muy interesante no solo por el resultado final sino por el acercamiento a una cultura totalmente diferente a la nuestra intentando entender su forma de vida sin imponer la nuestra.
Baasneere is a settlement of Burkina Faso, near the road between the cities of Kongoussi and Kaya. The project was started thanks to the organization “Algemesi Solidary”, which aims to improve people’s lives. The purpose of the project was to build a high school for the village. I relied on the typical morphology of the dome and the traditional construction in certain areas of Africa, while trying to preserve the typical geometry of most of the houses at Baasneere. This form of construction has some issues relating to a lack of education in building that I attempted to resolve). The association came to the Architecture School of Valencia in order to make this project possible. Using the ideas we provided, they are currently developing a final draft that will be built in the next few years. I find this project to be extremely relevant, not only for the final result but also for the difficulty of dealing with a new and unknown theme. The most important objective was to open my mind in order to understand their way of life instead of imposing ours.
Su clima ha sido clasificado como semi’árido (BSh), lo que se traduce en veranos extremadamente cálidos e inviernos templados. La zona sufre la temporada del monzón como una corta pero muy definida estación Durante los meses más cálidos la vegetació escasea, dejando zonas aisladas de arbolado, principalmente tipo Baobab.
Its climate is classified as hot semi-arid (BSh). This means extremely hot summers and warm winters. The climate experiences the seasonal effects of monsoons and has a short but well-defined wet season. During the hottest months there is little vegetation, leaving only small groups of woodlands, mainly of the Baobab type.

La oblación ronda los 60000 habitantes. Son mayoritariamente niños y jóvenes. Por esta razón los ancianos son considerados líderes y deben ofrecer su aprovación para empezar los trabajos. The poulation is around 60000 people. We can find many children and young people. Elders are consider edthe leaders of the village so they have to give us the approval for building. ECONOMÍA. ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES
Durante los meses de colecta el ritmo de construcción disminuye, hecho a tener en cuenta a la hora de establecer el programa constructivo. La población joven participará en el proceso de construcción mientras no coincida con la colecta. During the harvesting months the rhythm of construction is substantially slower, and we need to take this into account in order to plan the deadlines. The young Bassaneere people will help us with the construction process while they’re not collecting. ÉPOCA DE LLUVIAS. PERIODS OF RAIN
Durante la época de lluvias los trabajos de construcción se pararán. Por ello hemos elegido trabajar con módulos independientes para poder construir de uno en uno. During rainy season the construction works will be sut on hold. Therefore we’ve choosen to work with independent domes so we could build one by one.

En primer lugar, el proyecto está sujeto a cualquier cambio propuesto por la gente de Basneeré, dándoles la oportunidad de establecer los módulos de la escuela donde más les benficie. Los módulos se benefician de las condiciones que ofrece el entorno y usan lel arbolado como protección de los abrasantes vientos del Este. First of all, the project is subject to any change by Baasneere’s people hool wherever they prefer & making them feel that the school is something that belongs to them. I suggest a set of domed modules that they will be able to implement depending on their needs. The buildings take advantage of the woodlands in order to protect themselves from hot East winds. M Ó D U LO : L A C Ú P U L A . M O D U L E : T H E D O M E El sistema consiste en dos cúpulas con cámara de aire entre ellas que protegen el ambiente interior de las altas temperaturas. Encontramos aberturas tanto en la base como en la cumbre de la cúpula para permitir la ventilación cruzada. La cúpula exterior se materializa en adobe, (un material tradicional de la zona) que reffuerza la protección mientras que una plataforma eleva y proteje el conjunto de las fuertes lluvias de verano. The system is developed using two domes with an air chamber in the middle to protect the interior environment from high temperatures. There are some openings displayed at the bottom and at the top of the dome to allow cross-ventilation. The exterior wall is made of adobe (their traditional material) which reinforces the buildings’ protection, while a platform elevates & protects the buildings from strong summer rains.

La intervención parte de una vivienda de dos alturas con poca iluminación debido a la excesiva compartimentación de un espacio ya de por sí constreñido y estrecho y con un espacio abuhardillado totalmente desaprovechado. La fachada principal es considerada estructura protegida por formar parte de un conjunto histórico y no podremos realizar ninguna modificación en ella. La pieza principal de la intervención la constituye una superficie curva que resuelve la complicada conexión entre la cocina, núcleo de la vivienda y la vida familiar, y las zonas de estar alojando a la vez las estancias sirvientes. The aim of this project was to rehabilitate & refit a semi-attached building. The interior was in very bad shape while the front elevation was a protected structure. It is a two story house that is badly illuminated due to the excessive partitioning of the narrow and constrained space distributed over the ground and first floor. The attic space was completely unusable. A curved piece become the key part of this project, joining the new kitchen space & the living room while providing all of the services needed in the interior.

DAA El proyecto consiste en la ampliación de la zona business de la terminal 1 (Aeropuerto de Dublín). En un primer análisis establecimos las claves de la propuesta: Rediseñar la zona de servicios (incluyendo cocinas, aseos y comunicaciones), dotar al conjunto de una entrada desde la zona de salidas situada en el nivel inferior y de una zona de fumadores y sobre todo respetar lo existente. El verde corporativo y la madera de nogal inundan un espacio totalmente iluminado y donde los juegos de nivel y retranqueos crean distintos espacios para cubrir las necesidades de distintos viajeros.
This project amplifies the existing executive area located in Terminal 1 (Dublin Airport). From the first analysis our goal was to prioritize the needs of the proposal: Redesign service spaces (such as bathrooms, kitchen & corridors) in order to develop an entrance from the departures level & a smoking area. We decided to use their corporate green colours & walnut finishing to fit the new interior while matching the existing. Furthermore, the recesses & changes on the ceiling levels define different areas to suit the needs of all travelers.

TOYOTA EXPOSICIÓN Y SERVICIO / TOYOTAS SHOWROOM / SERVICE LIFFEY VALLEY, DUBLIN CLIENT

IRELAND El proyecto debía albergar dos espacios muy distintos, un showroom abierto al público, elegante y atractivo y una zona de reparación de vehículos. Partimos por ello de dos volúmenes encajados con características compositivas opuestas. La zona de showroom en primer plano, se configura como un volumen blanco, acristalado y con una doble altura en su interior. El volumen negro por su parte, de mayor tamaño, alberga los servicios relativos a la reparación de vehículos sirviéndose de la luz que le proporcionan unas aberturas longitudinales en la cubierta y el muro cortina de la zona frontal. Una franja roja recoge el vidrio del primer volumen y da identidad a la marca. En tercer plano encontramos una torre de planta cuadrada que acoge el almacenaje de vehículos y hace el proyecto visible desde la parte sur, a diferente cota. The important point about this work was to develop two different spaces; a showroom entirely open to the exterior, an attractive & elegant space, and a service area. Due to these premises, our proposal was to create two structures joined together but with completely opposite characteristics. On one hand we can find the showroom area, a white box with an important glazed section. On the other hand all of the services are included in the black box. This space is illuminated through linear roof lights & through the courtin wall on the front. A linear red aluminum strip framed the glazed section, giving its brand identity to the project.
