ello and a warm wellcome to my world. With these few pages I want to show my own way of thinking. But this is not just about architecture. It’s about what I enjoy doing the most and everything in which I’ve spent my time and efforts the last few years.

Prior to letting you get inside my world I would like to say a few things about myself: I have just finished my degree in Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Valencia. As long as I can remember I have been quite fascinated by everything related to construction and design. To be honest, I did not read The seven lamps of architecture when I was young. I’m talking about games, magazines and books. Driven by that interest, I orientated my education towards architecture. After my Erasmus scholarship in Milan, I discovered a new world where art, design and photography became importants sources of inspiration, and I developed a shared-blog that united all these passions. (www.clickmylook.wordpress.com) And here I am, eager to discover, learn and give my best on what I love. Enjoy reading!

l Cabañal in Valencia is an old neighborhood in the coastal zone of the city. Even though the neighborhood is in bad shape, it still has a small fishermans’s town charm. In order to bring life back again to the neighbourhood, I regenerated a preexistent building.

The importance of this project lies in its relationship with the enviroment where it is developed. As a result of the uncontrolled urban growth in my intervention area, the starting point of this project is to use the conditioning urban factors to develope my work. The first thing I found were two badly deteriorated industrial buildings. I only maintained their façades as a monument of what they have been. A longitudinal building occupies the northern part of the project attached to the annex building’s party hedge. This long spine also covers the façade of a residential building, not modifying any structural element like Lacaton & Vassal did in Paris. Another distinctive element of this project is the use of four prismatic volumes that illuminate the environment.

s cities grow, so does pollution, noise and climate change. Last century people dreamed about the idea of the “city garden”, but nowadays, most big cities have grown considerably without focusing on the development of their few green areas.

Milan is one of the world’s most polluted cities. It is particulary for that reason that improving the urban conditions becames mandatory. My project arises from a green area in the city of Milan, near Udine’s subway entrance. The zone had fallen into disuse due to lack of planning. I started the analysis trying to bear in mind what people could do in an urban green area. It had to be a place where everyone could develope its own activities without disturbing the others. This is why I designed a park where the different areas are separated by different heights. This creates a geometrical game that allows the views in some directions while preventing it in others.

aasneere is a settlement of Burkina Faso, near the road between the cities of Kongoussi and Kaya. The project was started thanks to the organization “Algemesi Solidary”, which aimed to improve people’s live. .

The project’s idea was to build a high school for the village. I relied on the typical morphology of the dome, the traditional construction in certain areas of Africa, while trying to preserve the typical geometry of most of the houses at Baasneere. This kind of construction has some problems, related to the lack of knowledge of Baasneere’s people, that I will try to resolve. The associaton came to the Architecture school of Valencia in order to make this project possible. Using the ideas we gave, they are currently developing a final draft that will be built in the next few years. I find this project really relevant, not only for the final result but also for the difficulty of dealing with a new and unknown theme. The most important thing was to open my mind in order to understand their way of life instead of imposing ours.

Rainfalls are concentrated in four months. They are ver y abundant a n d h e a v y. I n t h e s e m o n t h s w e contemplate that the construction works will be stopped. Therefore we’ve chose to work with independent modules. Domes are independent structures so we can build one after another and stop the construction if anything happens.

My project is subject to any change by Baasneere’s people. My intention is to involve the people and give them the opportunity to establish the school in those places they wo u l d l i ke t o. I suggest a set of domed modules that they will be able to execute depend i n g o n t h e i r n e e d s. The structure is developed by two domes with an air chamber inside to protect the interior ambient from high temperatures. There are some openings displayed at the bottom and at the top of the dome to produce cross ventilation. I have also designed an exterior wall made of adobe (their traditional material) which reinforces the buildings’ protection against the warm w i n d o f t h e E a s t. My most important contribution was the idea of a platform that protects buildings from the strong summer rains.

REINVENT THEIR SYSTEM My goal, as I have said before, was to build a school that reminds them home. Therefore I decided that the school must have a structure similar to the ones where they live. So based on their typical circular shape, I designed ever y single room they will need at school (Sanitary latrines, teacher ’ houses, even kitchens or offices. The general structure of the classrooms is made by one single dome, three domes or two domes linked by a intermediate element thought to develop social activities.
