Bodegรณn Cabinet

Bodegon Cabinet is my personal firm in collaboration with a partner. We thought it as an inter-disciplinary firm based in Barcelona and focused on architecture, interior and furniture design. Architecture becomes the basis and from that point onwards the objective is to enjoy all the production processes with the conviction that every format’s possibilities are endless.

La Casa de las Flores is a Boutique Hotel in the historical city of Cartagena, Murcia. All the interior design is based on three main concepts: COLOR_ We use it to organize and zoning the project. PATRIMONY_ We used materials and textured in the building as tools for our project giving them a new value through new geometries and languages. THE STREET_ We have an unique location in the city centre, so open the building to the street become mandatory. We gave the reception a new use as a flowershop, so it could be crossed but also used.

La Redonda

D E S I G N

P R O C E S S

La Redonda is a chair that flirts with a pure two-dimensional geometrical figure, the circle. This perfect shape is molded after being cut over a steel plate, maintaining its purity in its step towards the three dimensions. The distortion that turns a steel plate into an object occupying space, fills it with complexity and gives it new geometric relationships at the same time that, given the necessary distance, still holds the simplicity of the circle. A vanishing point on the horizon.

La Prima

P R O C E S S

La Prima was born following its older sister La Redonda. In this case, while working with the same concept, the circle, we created a more functional chair, that comes in two formats, upholstered with Kvadrat fabric or just a metallic structure. It is also developed from a steel plate, that it is now cutted into two mirrored circles joined by the structure. Photography: Denise Cรกrabez and Melisa Ramirez

The conception of a concept is always a challenge to me, and one of the things I enjoy most. I usually work on it from many different points of view. In Casa Gato, after rejecting some ideas, I arrived to the pop concept of the -1 plan.

D E S I G N P R O C E S S PROJECT LEADER The distribution of the restaurant was complicated due to the irregular plan of the local. The concept is based on the ceramic mosaics that characterise Valencian’s old houses in El Cabanyal. El Cabanyal in Valencia is an old neighborhood in the coastal zone of the city. Although the neighborhood is in bad shape, it has the charm of a small fishing village. We also designed a colour palette that reminds to the Mediterranean. The sand, the sea and the vegetacion. And the light.

El Equipo Creativo

I worked as an architect for almost two years in El Equipo Creativo, an interior design studio based in Barcelona and specialized in the interior design of gastronomic, commercial and brand flag spaces. Most of the projects I worked in has been very published and awarded with national and international awards.

Node Architects

The practice has extensive experience in a range of projects varying from high rise commercial and civic buildings to smaller scale residential projects and one-off houses. Since the begining I deveoped survey plans, planning applications, sketch, tender & construction drawings, modelling and interior design projects both in 2D & 3D.

Remodelling existing house. Dublin The aim of this project was to rehabilitate & refit a semi-attached building. It is a two story house that is badly illuminated due to the excessive partitioning of the narrow and constrained space distributed over the ground and first floor. The attic space was completely unusable. A curved piece become the key part of this project, joining the new kitchen space & the living room while providing all of the services needed in the interior.

Toyota Showroom. Liffey Valley/Dublin

D E S I G N

P R O C E S S

The important point about this work was to develop two different spaces; a showroom entirely open to the exterior, an attractive & elegant space, and a service area. Due to these premises, our proposal was to create two structures joined together but with completely opposite characteristics. On one hand we can find the showroom area, a white box with an important glazed section. On the other hand all of the services are included in the black box. This space is illuminated through linear roof lights & through the courtin wall on the front.

Academic

During my school years in Valencia (2008-2015) I developed a wide range of projects from housing to equipments, obtaining the maximum grade in my final Thesis. I was also interested in using my knoledge in social causes. I participated in a Workhop about design and live in Burkina Faso, where we designed an school that has been built afterwords. I was also invited, as a member of the representative team of Polythecnic University of Valencia, to participate in an International Workshop in Mexico with the goal of regenerating some informal settlements around the city.

Coworking in El Cabanyal

El Cabañal in Valencia is an old neighborhood in the coastal zone of the city. Even though the neighborhood is in bad shape, it still has a small fishermans’s town charm. In order to bring life back again to the neighbourhood, As a result of the uncontrolled urban growth in my intervention area, the starting point of this project is to use the conditioning urban factors to develope my work. The importance of this project lies in its relationship with the enviroment where it is developed. The importance of this project lies in its relationship with the enviroment where it is developed.

The system is able to evacuate rainwater by itself and set up an attractive and clear interior space. This way, it adapts to the complex morphology representing the project idea and to acts as a solar control. There are two closing methods. The first one is built for the work places with a double skin consisting of a security glass and a perforated sheet. The second one, a sandwich panel solution, is designed for the conference room and the exhibition area, where a comprehensive solar control is needed.

My intention is to involve the people and give them the opportunity to establish the school in those places they would like to. I suggest a set of domed modules that they will be able to execute depending on their needs. Buildings take advantage of woodland to protect themselves from hot East winds.

THE DOME The structure is developed by two domes with an air chamber inside to protect the interior ambient from high temperatures. There are some openings displayed at the bottom and at the top of the dome to produce cross ventilation. I have also designed an exterior wall made of adobe (their traditional material) which reinforces the buildings’ protection against the warm wind of the East. My most important contribution was the idea of a platform that protects buildings from the strong summer rains.
