New Version: Rumpelstiltskin WE ALL KNOW THE TRUE STORY OF RUMPELSTILTSKIN BUT NOW WE ARE GOING TO TELL YOU THE TRUE ONE. Once upon a time there was a miller who was very poor. The miller had a very handsome son. It happened that he had to go and speak to the queen, and in order to make himself appear important he said to her, “I have a son who can turn horses into very good soldiers.” The queen said to the miller,” that is an art which pleases me well. If your son is as clever as you say, bring him tomorrow to my palace, and I will put him to a test.” When the boy was brought to her, she took him into a stable which was full of horses, and said, “Now set to work, and if by tomorrow morning early you have not turned these horses into amazing soldiers, you will die.” There upon, she herself locked up the stable, and left him in it alone. So there sat the poor miller's son who had no idea on how to turn horses into amazing soldiers. He grew more and more frightened, until at last he began to weep. All at once the door opened, and in came a giant and said,” Good evening, boy, why are you crying?” “I have to turn these horses into soldiers and I have no idea how to do it.” The giant took the horses, and one second later they became strong soldiers. And so it went on until the morning, when all the horses were soldiers. By daybreak the queen was already there, and when she saw the soldiers she was astonished and delighted, but her heart became only greedier. She had the miller's son taken into another stable full of horses, which was much larger, and commanded him to turn the horses into soldiers also in one night if he valued his life. The boy knew not how to help himself, and was crying, when the door opened again, and the gigantic man appeared, and asked, “What will you give me if I help you escape?” “The ring on my finger,” answered the boy. The giant broke the door, took the ring, and gave the boy a very fast horse to escape.
The next morning when the queen went to the stable and saw that the door was broken, she went in and realized that the boy had escaped. “Someday I will find this boy and I will marry him. He´s very brave. He dared to escape from my palace.” Some months later, the boy was in his father’s house, when a soldier knocked at the door. “The queen wants to see you.” “What? I can´t go back. I can´t turn horses into soldiers. A giant did it for me. My father lied. Please spare my life.” The soldier went back and told the queen what had happened. She decided to marry him anyway as he was not only brave but honest. Rumpelstintskin was hired to change the horses into soldiers and he was very rewarded every time. The boy and the queen got married and lived happily ever after.
