Our Mark
To help establish the National Park Service’s identity, we designed a simple yet meaningful graphic that can be used throughout our materials.
Named “Sammy Sunrise,” the shape is made of a half circle deriving from our logo. It’s meant to communicate the idea of growth and new beginnings—much like the reason behind our rebranding. The sunrise itself symbolizes our environment and our future when it’s cared for. The color could be inverted depending on it’s application, but there’s a youthfulness to the organic shape and its bright yellow color which is inspired by Horace Albright’s vision for the Park Service.

Sammy Sunrise can be used in different ways such as a statement or even a supporting graphic. It can command a space by drawing attention to itself, or in a subtle manner hidden in a corner. Common uses are backdrops for bringing attention to fun facts or phrases or as a full-bleed image.
