An annual, nationwide social gathering where people can join in on outdoor recreation.

A large annual weekender celebration held at our parks where communities partake in fun outdoor activities. Attendees have the option to play in field games, rent out sports equipment, or even gather around a fire pit for stories and marshmallow roasting. Meals will be made using our locally grown produce from the Community Garden. In addition to our activities, we’ll have a friendly triathlon competition where people who are interested can compete in biking, swimming, and running for a chance to win an all-inclusive NPS Unplugged experience in any park of their choosing.

Opened to new-time campers, join us for guided hikes, mountain biking, trail clean ups, or even our evening bonfires to connect and meet like-minded people. People have the chance to camp in local parks to even parks across the nation. It’s a great opportunity for folks who have never gone camping, but even our seasoned campers can participate through volunteering as camp counselors or tour guides. While having fun, there’s an underlying focus on teaching how to camp in a sustainable fashion that doesn’t negatively impact our environment.

The NPS Community Camp reinforces our mission of protecting and reintroducing natural and cultural resources for all to enjoy, explore, and discover by giving under-resourced communities the opportunity to develop positive and environment-friendly experiences with the outdoors.

What sets the NPS Community Camp from similar organizations is that there’s a fundamental call to eco-friendly outdoor education. We focus on giving everyone an opportunity to be outdoors, especially those living in urban environments who don’t usually have a chance to camp.

NPS UNPLUGGED

An opportunity to unplug and unwind through connecting with nature.

This off-the-grid experience entails renting out cabins built in the outdoors or trailers in remote areas. This gives people the opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city by co-existing in nature through sustainable living. The site will include equipment for recreational activities such as bikes and kayaks. It’s the perfect peaceful getaway for solo travelers, couples, and families big and small. When arriving on site, visitors are given a journal and are welcome to write to remember their experience.

NPS HOME GARDEN

A self-starter kit where people can sustainably grow produce from an indoor garden.

This kit will include a vessel, LED lights, fertilizer, pump and a custom arrangement of pods ranging from herbs, flowers, plants, or veggies. The garden can be controlled and regulated via an app for ease of use. The idea is to promote sustainability and water conservation through a hands-on experience right at the comfort of your home. This is perfect for those living in compact spaces, but do not have the resources to start a garden of their own.

NPS URBAN MUSEUM

A museum with exhibits that preserve and share a city’s cultural and historical significance.

Local interactive museums where people can learn and preserve the history of their cities. Through AI and VR technology, people can view what the land originally looked like and how it developed. People can learn about the city’s native flora and fauna as well as the key historic events or changes that occurred.

NPS X RIVIAN

A partnership between the National Park Service and electric adventure vehicles.

NPS service vehicles will be swapped for electric ones as a more eco-friendly option. Not only will getting around the parks be easier, it will be better for the environment.

In addition, rentable electric off-road vehicles such as the R1T to encourage people to travel across the country and partake in outdoor activities without the guilt from causing environmental harm. This co-branding opportunity will give communities access to the outdoors in a sustainable fashion. Living an adventurous lifestyle, as well as a sustainable one, isn’t so easily obtainable especially if you don’t have the right resources; however, through this opportunity, anyone can have the chance to experience adventure without negatively impacting the environment.

The NPS x Rivian collaboration reinforces our mission of protecting and reintroducing natural and cultural resources for all to enjoy, explore, and discover by enabling outdoor adventure sports and exploration through clean energy.
