Buildings’ exterior materials feature concrete, corten steel, and wood composite. These durable and long-lasting finishings will require low maintenance while developing a natural patina to harmonize with the landscape, along with simple lines and generous overhangs.

Description

The flat-roofed house reflects its owner’s dream come true, a design fitted into its steep hillside site, emphasizing a minimal - contemporary design. An elemental material palette further relates the home to its natural surroundings, a very characteristic but not common area in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

An extensive, front two-story / back three-story, detached house, respond to the lot peculiar steepness, client’s requirements, and climatic conditions.

Passive natural ventilation and lighting, reduction of the amount of heat gain in the summer, and great views are just some of its main features.

The house origin is from the early 1900s which has been a great challenge. We’ve looked to find a balance between our new design, the client’s needs, and the preservation of the cultural value of the property.

It was an abandoned house, requested to be redesigned from scratch taking into consideration the existing different cultural elements in order to enrich the owner’s experience while living in the house, as it’s been adapted to the new end-user needs.

Small, functional, and countryside style were the main requirements when this design was requested, two guest houses with no specific owner, intended to be used by executive staff working in a certain company.

A limited budget determined the decisions made in this project as it had to be inexpensive, we accomplished a good design by having an open plan layout to provide social interaction whereas we got all the basic needs covered by having the minimum functional dimensions to make it work.

The existing patio had very bad conditions and an irregular shape, which led us to provide a custom design responding to their basic needs.

A contemporary style using natural textures such as wood, coralina stone, and green paving, creates a tropical environment accomplishing the owner’s requirements. We also developed a program for this social areas, which included: Terrace, Bbq, pool area, gazebo and parking, all connected by one path to the house backdoor.

This venue which was required to be a multi-use space has been developed to be rented to host various kinds of events.

The commercial space had an irregular shape, which became a great design after converting it to a totally different layout different from the existing one, developing a mixed style of minimalist contemporary leading to an elegant and welcoming space.
