Non-privacy enough inside theorical lessons

Orchards unused. There isn’t self sufficient food

Ecosystem cycle: the contamination of the new technologies and the unsatisfactory urbanism policies reduced the reserved areas, causing a severe reduction of some typical species. In this situation CDT has a crucial job, using their installations in favour of ecosystem’s rise and protection of endangered species.

Torrevieja’s typical food is being lost with the transformation of the existing food culture due to 53% of foreign’ population. Finding the need to invest in local products, connective food trade networks and cooking techniques improvement with their proper installations. In addition, the smell takes a relevant place.

Empty spaces in summer

Nowadays, in Summer the CDT is almost empty of students because what they study in winter, they practise during the summer in external business. So we reactivate the life inside the building during the summer season.

Waste acumulated in other uses spaces

Bad use of sunlight

The inefficient recycle system and the low recycle’s knowledge has left the CDT in a position where people can bring us their organic waste to turn it into ecologic fertilizer. In addition the rest of the useless rubbish would be correctly recycled and given to the recycle factory.

Atmospheric cycle: the last storms left an unprotected situation where people couldn’t stay longer times in winter and summer seasons inside the building. In therms of atmospheric architecture, we potenciate this idea to their limits and try to find the principal relation between nature and architecture.

Existing CDT - Phase 01


We expose the CDT east faรงade using glass walls to show people from outside how the building is, and to invite them to come.

CITY ENTRANCE ROAD

We retake the local vegetation and cultives for self production in our CDT project where are used for cooking typical local food. Thta helps people to learn the culture from the city.

LOCAL CULTIVES SALTY LAKE Water from lake comes to CDT to repoblate flamingos because the mud material facilitate flamingos to put nests. In another way, that mud from salty lake is used for lodoteraphy el agua del lago and as irrigation for vegetation and orchards.

SECOND RESIDENCE HOUSES Foreign people are invited to enjoy CDT activities and to learn the culture and traditions from Torrevieja, helping with this to the conservation.

A way to colaborate the CDT with the citizens is proposing that all the trush from recycle points in the city, come to the CDT to transform that rubbish into organic fertilizer for plants

RECYCLE POINTS

LOCAL RESTAU RANTS Economy can be recuperated if there is an a g r e e m e n t where students from CDT go to practise to local restaurant and we facilitate products for cooking the local food to that restaurants.

Relationship with the environment


In the existing CDT there is a strong hierarchy that divides the program in three different spaces: Theorical part, cooking part and the middle one the common space

In the existing CDT there is a semi basement where cars park, and in the middle part is opened to groundfloor

The existing CDT is one floor height where the predominant is the horizontal line.

In the project we mix that trhee spaces in another three parts. Joining them trhough a conexion corridor and greenhouse

So in the end we have three modules where there are in each of them the three main programs.

We use the same idea of semi basement opened to groundfloour but instead of parking we introduce the salty water from the lake in these spaces.

In the end we have an opened groundfloor as and extra space where you can find different kinds of pavement like grass and stones, and there are some small lakes accesisble for everyone.

we split from the groundfloor, that first floor creating and opened space between both.

In the end that first floor is multiply by three more so now we have a verticallity highlighting from the horizontal.
