In today’s overly photographed world the simplistic style of minimal photography brings a big relief to the eye. Artistically speaking, minimalism depends on a single fundamental principle of keeping it simple every time using minimum amount of compositional elements, separated by shape, color, and line. Minimalism being a very subjective style is open to interpretations. It may convey a concept or an idea, provoke an emotional response, or provide a unique visual experience. You need an eye to create a minimalistic image so as to decide what all to include and what not to. This art compels you to view the world differently through the lens and challenges you to look beyond the obvious for hidden photographic opportunities. Mario Buncuga Novembre 2016

ADOLFO CARLI Milano, Italy viaggiatorionline.com/Search.asp?r=adolfo&section= acebook.com/adolfo.carli.7/photos_albums?__mref=message_bubble

I live in Milan and my two greatest passions are: traveling and photography, which obviously are closely linked. I do not consider myself specialized or be fond of any particular field of photography just because photo-reportage, in my opinion, entails broad margins of opportunity including, of course, minimal. I discovered minimal photography just a few years ago; and now it is so that when I look at a scene I first try to conceptualize a possible ‘minimal' frame in it. 10

CHRIS FRAIKIN Leerdam, Netherlands www.chrisfraikin.com facebook.com/chris.fraikin

Chris Fraikin from The Netherlands is primarily known for his ‘archtracts’: minimal abstracts of architectural, urban and industrial objects, shot in a contemplative way. Just a couple of months ago he presented his first coffee table book which is available through his website. But Chris also regularly travels around the world to capture his minimals in a different surrounding. In this edition he takes you with him to Santorini, Greece. In this Series he tries to train your eye to look through the beautiful white cities and blue domes from the churches and the famous sunsets of Oia and bring this all back to some beautiful details. End of this year Chris will publish this trip in a new coffee table book. 22

PREMA MENEZES Paris, France instagram.com/bellenomade/

‘If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough’ Albert Einstein

Prema Menezes is a Paris based photographer who has lived in Australia, Dubai and India, where she graduated from Mumbai’s prestigious Sir JJ School of Art. As a photographer and as a rover, she is fascinated by the constant spectacle offered by life and travel. She has travelled the world, camera in hand, striving to snatch, grab, and arrest the images that she discovers along the way.

She advocates the idea that the brain and the eye are far more important than the camera, and often uses a point and shoot or phone camera, saying ‘I love the feeling of shooting this way. It’s pure freedom. It’s always with me, always in my hand, and allows me to focus on what’s in front of me, without the equipment being intrusive’. She accepts that Art is everywhere and that you just have to be able to see it. She peers at the mundane and finds a soul hidden in there. Often as she is on the streets of an exotic city trying to look through her lens to make a picture, people passing by try to fathom why she is pointing a camera at a subject they cannot see. Her work is a silent report on the beauty of commonplace things and sights, all interpreted in a visual language of simplicity, purity, and minimalism. Please see the following Instagram account for examples of Prema’s minimalist phone photography. instagram.com/bellenomade/ 34

DILETTA PACIFICI Fano, Italy instagram.com/ladile facebook.com/ladileartwork

"Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere." Albert Einstein

My name is Diletta Pacifici, I was born and grown up in Fano, a small town in central Italy. I'd describe myself as a friendly and creative person who loves art in all forms. I've been working as a jewelry designer for a local brand since 2012. This job allows me to express my creativity without getting bored every next day. In the beginning photography was simply a way to kill the time. I used to wander around my town with a smartphone, looking for geometrical walls and unexpected situations from real life. One year from that, looking for a better image quality, I switched to a real camera, a Nikon DSLR, that, to tell the truth, I haven't mastered yet. Actually, what I like more in my hobby is the post production work I do on the photos, using Photoshop. The creative process is not straightforward; I rarely plan it.

I just look at some photos I shot and the idea comes almost by itself. I suppose it's a mix of unconsciousness, dreams, unexpected visions. I certainly love going beyond the common sense, breaking the rules of the reality that we all know and creating credible or sometimes surreal scenarios, where everything is clean, colorful and nice. I think I chose minimalism because I need putting some order in the chaos harboring in my soul, like a kind of calming therapy. In my minimalistic pictures I highlight only the parts and elements I want to show. The colors I use are always vibrant and help me to do just about that. For more than past two years I've started posting my creative works in Instagram because it is still a platform that photo enthusiasts and graphic artists from all over the world embrace and use everyday. It offers a huge visibility, with an audience more inclined than any other social network. (instagram.com/ladile/). You may also see some of my work on my Facebook page (acebook.com/ladileartwork/ ) . 58
