Minimal Introduction In today’s overly photographed world the simplistic style of minimal photography brings a big relief to the eye. Artistically speaking, minimalism depends on a single fundamental principle of keeping it simple every time using minimum amount of compositional elements, separated by shape, color, and line. Minimalism being a very subjective style is open to interpretations. It may convey a concept or an idea, provoke an emotional response, or provide a unique visual experience. You need an eye to create a minimalistic image so as to decide what all to include and what not to. This art compels you to view the world differently through the lens and challenges you to look beyond the obvious for hidden photographic opportunities.

ALDO SIGNORELLI Milano, Italia https://aldosignorelli68.wixsite.com/ilmiosito facebook.com/profile.php?id=100008851458200 instagram.com/signorelli_aldo/

I was born in the province of Milan in 1968 and in 1982 I made my first attempt with photography with a vintage Comet Bencini. The desire to express my emotions and feelings through an image, had constantly inspirited my personal endeavors with a fervor for photographic experimentation, which still persists.

I gradually learned the technique of printing in black and white as well as in color, but soon enough the advent of digital technology opened to me new creative possibilities with postproduction. I am a versatile photographer, very close to the minimalistic genre, yet with a propensity for portraiture and creative photography. I have hosted some personal exhibitions, have got my portfolios published in Fotografare and Fotocult magazines: and I have participated in many FIAF competitions where I have won appreciation for my work. To me everything else beyond photography is just ordinary life. 10

EMILIANO BORDONARO Roma, Italia facebook.com/emiliano.bordonaro instagram.com/divemaster73/

I got interested in photography at an early age when, being attracted by the speed machines, I borrowed my father's Nikon E and took pictures of the car races. In the course of growing up I came across several genres of photography and things became more interesting with the advent of digital cameras.

Only in the last few years have I approached architecture and minimal photography; that has allowed me to open my mind to a whole new level of photography and to see the world around me from a different perspective. These genres are often regarded as ‘cold’ but, in my opinion, they allow instead to develop more of a photographic eye. Sometimes, where a person only sees an empty wall or a line, I see an opportunity to express my vision of the photograph. Thanks to my passion, I'm always brought to new and sometimes unknown territories to look for an original shot and that effort is also reflected through my work and transmitted to those who watch it. 22

ESTELA CANAVEIRA Castelo Branco, Portugal facebook.com/estelacanaveira instagram.com/estela.fidalgo.canaveira

I was born in a little village called Aranhas, in the interior of Portugal. My academic education was in law and history. Despite this, two of my great passions have been traveling and taking pictures. I started to see photography as a means to catch the best moments of my trips and add them to my memories for the future. With time, I developed a special love and interest for doors and windows.

I l i ke p h o to g ra p h i n g o b j e c ts i n d e cay, transforming the ugly into something beautiful, but lately, perhaps two years ago, I changed my focus to simpler and cleaner photos. To bring out the beauty of fewer elements in a photo is really a challenge, because we have to try to give importance to some elements which sometimes are very small and faint. I also like colors. I always search for colors, and I have very few photos in black and white, because my eyes are constantly looking for bright colors. My photos are now a kind of mixture of my passion for doors and windows, colors and minimal details. It’s a pleasure to have the chance to share with you some of my favorite minimal photos. Thanks to WePhoto team and I’m happy to be sharing space with several great minimalist photographers. Thanks for the invitation; this group is really an inspiration to me. 34

"Minimalism is not only a photographic approach, it can also be a life style.

I am Irene Eberwein, a minimalistic photographer with a decent presence on the web. You may look at my photographic artwork as an example of minimalistic approach applied to minimal urban architecture photography. I work with essential and clean compositions, always resulting from a very few peculiar elements, which take the focus in my frames 46

KAROL KWIATKOWSKI London, England instagram.com/karolo_lolo linkedin.com/in/karol-kwiatkowski-13020a82/ facebook.com/karol.kwiatkowski.313371

I am a Polish archaeologist currently living in London. Amongst many of my passions in life, photography is one that enables me to articulate my interests, passions and individuality.

My adventure with photography began at the archaeological excavations that I was a part of, and where a good eye for detail, patience and observation were the indispensable attributes of a good researcher. Since moving to London in 2013 my passion for photography has fully evolved. Due to my interest in architecture and its minimalistic approach I am focused on the aesthetic and geometric perspective of the reality to create my own point of view 58

RINO ALESSANDRINI Torino, Italia flickr.com/photos/elchblut/ fluidr.com/photos/elchblut facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000718572785

I was born and raised in Turin, am aged fifty, and possess a dream to become a full time photographer. Despite being reasonably active in the field, I am left with very little time to devote to my passion, and have to steal moments from my schedule to take pictures.

My pictures generally reflect my real state of mind. I do not think I belong to a particular style, nor do I opt for any specific subject over another. I simply shoot as they are at a given moment. And whatever I have in front of or around me is what I prefer. Even if my interest and my attention lie in observing the usual and the ordinary, I am always looking for a different interpretation of the same. In reality, what amazes me is how it transforms or changes and therefore becomes fascinating, an object of common use, seen through a minimalist approach, with compositions that also use geometric shapes and the presence of strong color contrasts. These are rigorous images that give me a sense of serenity 70

SERGIO MARANZANA Castellazzo Bormida, Italia faceboook.com/sergio.maranzana.18 instagram.com/sergiomaranzana/

I'm Sergio Maranzana, amateur photographer since 1987. I started, obviously, with an analog camera, shooting in black and white that I developed and would print by myself until 2005, the year of my transition to digital.

I photograph everything that moves me, from the landscape to the street and lately I’ve been fascinated by the minimal. For many years I have participated in competitions, group exhibitions and have exhibited of late in individual capacity at Acqui Terme, Cogoleto and Champoluc. I can conclude in one line that photography is a wonderful outlet that stimulates you, relaxes you and often helps you in many moments of life. 82

VALERIA PARODI Savona, Italia www.instagram.com/valgra92/ facebook.com/valeria.graziano.39

My name is Valeria Parodi and I live in Savona. I started to photograph at least thirty years ago. I photographed everything that struck me and often with unusual shots

For years I participated in national and international competitions, winning all sorts of awards. I use a Nikon 700, but I often use a cell phone because it is always available. Today, for personal reasons, I put my photos only on photo groups in Facebook and I found myself mostly making minimal photographs. I like to find in the details something that speaks and hits beyond the shot. 94
