WePhoto Portrait 2017 Vol 4 Dear all, Here comes yet another moment of pride for WePhoto while releasing the next Book in ‘The Series’ representing the genre - Portrait Photography. I founded the WePhoto Group in February 2014 to get myself a birthday present. From that day onwards we have come this far out of sheer passion for the art. Over the time, thanks to the continuous help and support of many likeminded colleagues, who have been as enthusiast as I am, that we have created other groups and thematic pages to better represent the various styles of photography. Today WePhoto group has the widest presence across Facebook representing almost every possible genre of photography. As of date there are twelve groups and related pages, with picture boards on Pinterest and more than seventy e-books published on issuu.com. This annual collection called - The Series - is made of eBooks each belonging to a specific photographic theme, and includes the artwork of several authors from Italy and abroad. The one in your hands is the forth thematic book dedicated to Portrait Photography. Apart from the e-version these publications are available in the form of coffee table books as well. Nulla di più “personale” di un ritratto. Una tecnica non facile, perchè il ritratto non deve essere solo “un immagine”. Deve cogliere l’Essenza dell’individuo ritratto. Sia una dolce fanciulla dagli occhi languidi, un Rude vecchio con la pelle segnata dal tempo, o un bimbo con gli occhi tristi, il Ritratto deve colpire, deve farti perdere in quello sguardo, dolce o smarrito, devi cogliere il sogno di quella dolce fanciulla, o il sapore amaro della sofferenza. Osservate a fondo questi occhi. Ognuno nasconde un profondo sentimento.

For us, the human beings, there could be nothing more ‘personal’ than a portrait. You look through a pair of eyes and you will find everyone hiding some deep emotions. Making of a portrait involves intricate techniques, observant eyes, and a creative mind because a portrait is not supposed to be just an image. It has to hold the essence of every individual personality. Whether it is a sweet girl with languid eyes, a rude old man with skin marked by time, or a child with sad eyes, their portrait has to strike the conscience of a viewer. It must make them lose their heart. Your job as the photographer is to seize the dream of that lovely girl or make the viewer feel the sourness of suffering.

Inizio il mio percorso quasi per caso nel 2010, ancora non possiedo nemmeno la macchina fotografica, ma inizio da autodidatta a studiare e leggere ogni cosa mi capiti a tiro sulla fotografia. Comprata la reflex, però, si palesa subito la necessità di approfondire, quindi faccio alcuni corsi tenuti da dei professionisti della mia città, Cremona. Ad oggi non ho ancora smesso di studiare e non credo smetterò di farlo, più imparo e più voglio imparare! Ho sete di fotografia e fame di fare sempre meglio!

would take

pictures of anything and everything that my eyes could catch. When I bought the camera I felt right away the need to deepen my knowledge. So I attended some professional courses held by photographers in my hometown Cremona. Since then I have had a deep urge to enhance my knowledge further and I think I will never stop doing it. The more I learn the more I want to delve into it. I live for photography and always want to do better. 10

Sono Barbara Stoia, molfettese purosangue trapiantata da dodici anni in Brianza, ma con Molfetta sempre nel cuore. Ho scoperto la fotografia "seria" da circa dieci anni durante i quali, tra uno scatto e l'altro, gioco a prendermi sul serio facendo l'ingegnere elettronico. Sono affascinata dalla fotografia e dalla sua dinamica staticità. Abbraccio con passione le sfumature di tutte le sue declinazioni: la perfezione del mondo digitale, il calore e l'eterea suggestione senza tempo degli scatti analogici. Da un po’ di tempo ho il piacere di collaborare con importanti gruppi fotografici, in qualità di responsabile della selezione di scatti per diverse forme artistiche, nonché come curatrice di progetti editoriali. Il lavoro proposto in queste pagine nasce da una semplice, ma non banale, definizione: innocenza - Ignoranza del male, e quindi incapacità d’intenderlo e di commetterlo, per lo più propria dell’età infantile (rif. Treccani). Ho cercato l'innocenza in giro per il mondo, ritrovandone la forza, disarmante quanto inequivocabile, negli occhi dei bambini ritratti in questi scatti.

I'm Barbara Stoia, a Molfettese thoroughbred, with twelve years spent in Brianza, but with Molfetta always in the heart. I discovered ‘serious’ photography about ten years back while I was doing electrical engineering. I am fascinated by photography and its static dynamics. I embraced with passion the nuances of all its forms: the perfection of the digital world, the warmth and ethereal charm of timeless analog shots. I am an eclectic who likes questioning. My shots are therefore the synthesis of years spent in the studio and the world in search of excitement, new views, dynamic influences of cultures, people and landscapes. B e s i d e s I h a v e co l l a b o r a t e d w i t h p re m i u m photographic groups where I’m responsible of photo selections for different artistic shapes and am also the curator of editorial projects. The work proposed in this e-book was born from a simple, but not banal, definition: innocence. 22

La mia Passione Fotografica nasce nel 2007 dopo la nascita di mio figlio.Quando lui entro' nel mondo dello sport mi comprai una piccola Bridge per seguirlo sui campi da calcio. Dopo qualche anno precisamente nel 2012 si fecero presenti nella mia vita dei piccoli problemi di salute che, ringraziando un mio caro Amico li risolsi. Vi chiederete come? lui mi regalò la mia prima Reflex e da quel momento mi accorsi che dedicandomi alla fotografia i miei problemi svanivano.Mi dedicai a vari tipi di fotografia quali sport, panorami e avifauna con molta soddisfazione. Un giorno vidi pubblicizzato in un social un evento gratuito che dava la possibilità di fotografare modelle in stile “Fashion” o “Elegante”. Vi partecipai e da quel momento non smisi più. I miei generi preferiti sono Glamour,Ritratto e il “Fashion”. Il mio cammino e' ancora molto lungo e sempre in salita; ho ancora tantissime cose da imparare!!

I was born in Padua in 1971 where I still reside. My passion for photography began in 2007 after the birth of my son. When he entered sports I bought a small Bridge to follow him on the soccer fields. After a few years, in 2012 to be precise, I faced certain healthrelated problems, but thanks my beloved friend who helped me resolve them. You may ask how? Well, he gave me my first Reflex and from that moment I realized that I had to devote myself to photography, and then I saw my problems disappear. I am involved in a variety of photography genres such as sports, landscapes, birdlife etc also with equal satisfaction. One day I noticed an advertisement about a social event that offered the opportunity to photograph girls in fashion or elegant style models for free. I was as a cameraman, I am still today.. and from that moment I did not stop. My favorite genres are Glamor, Portrait and Fashion. My path is still very long and always uphill. I still have so many things to learn! 34

I'm a photojournalist and a portrait photographer. I have been shooting for the past three years and went professional in late 2015. Since then I have worked with agencies in advertising and photojournalism. At the moment, I hope to excel and continue to learn by collaborating with interesting and talented people.

I am captivated by new ideas encompassing emotion, mood, love and beauty. I'm interested in working with children, and models that are kind, confident and comfortable with themselves. Mempelajari banyak daripada fotografer tentang kemahiran, sistem pengendalian kamera seperti apeture, shutter, ISO dll. Pergi ke fotografi potret dengan peluang, mulai dari sekarang hingga sekarang, Saya telah ambil gambar portait sekarang. Fotografi kanak-kanak adalah minat utama saya sekarang. Saya tidak pernah menyertai bengkel fotografi sebelum ini, hanya melalui kesan lampu studio dan kesilapan. Foto yang menakjubkan dan terinspirasi adalah lebih daripada seribu perkataan.

It's been six years since I started my photography journey. I loved looking at the beautiful photographs. Therefore I started with buying myself a Canon dSLR, and taking tons of scenery for starter. I joined a group of friends for shooting.. and even went to Mt Bromo with some photographers for its breathtaking landscapes. I must admit that I learned a lot from those photogs about composition, light and camera basics. I got into portrait photography by chance, and from there the passion is still on. Kids photography is my main interest as of now. I had never joined any photography course, training or workshop, and whatever I have achieved is just by trial and error with studio lighting, posing and camera techniques. To me a stunning and inspired photo can express yourself more than a thousand words. 70

La fotografia per me è un momento di evasione dalla noia e dalla routine della vita quotidiana. Classe 1967, della provincia di Venezia, ho cominciato quasi per caso, scoprendo poi nel paesaggio la mia vera passione. Negli ultimi due anni però, ho scoperto la bellezza e il fascino della foto glamour e fashion, ho cercato così di valorizzare la bellezza femminile, sia nel corpo che nel volto, senza mai però essere volgare.

Photography for me is a moment of evasion from boredom and daily routine. Belonging to the class of 1967 I hail from the province of Venice. I started photography almost by chance. I eventually found my true passion in landscape. In the last 2 years I have discovered the beauty and charm of Glamour and Fashion photography. I look to valorize the female beauty - both in body and face - without being vulgar. 82
