Portrait Photography
For us, the human beings, there could be nothing more ‘personal’ than a worthy portrait. You look through a pair of eyes and find every single person hiding some emotions deep within. Making of a portrait involves intricate techniques, observant eyes, and a creative mind because a portrait is not supposed to be merely an image; it rather has to hold the essence of the individual personality. Whether it is a gorgeous girl with languid eyes, a rude old man with his skin marked by time, or a child with sad eyes, their portrait has to strike the conscience of a viewer. It has to make them lose their heart. Our job as a photographer is to seize the dream of that girl and make the viewer feel the sourness of the old man’s suffering. Presented herein is a collection of some of the best works of our time.

I've been traveling around the world for the past 48 years and have inevitably become a great fan of photography. The photos I usually shoot are photo reportage or may quite obviously be called street photos.
Normally, I love to photograph people in their daily gestures or as engaged in whatever other occasions. This is not always easy and so possible because you must respect the local traditions, customs and cultures. Over the years I've learned that patience and perseverance help you at the end. It is particularly important to interact with people and try to get closer to them, rather than selfishly jumping over an opportunity for portraiture and in turn, terrifying or annoying them forever. I have experienced that people are normally amiable and they love to be photographed. 10

HENK VELDHUIZEN Alphen aan den Rijn, The Netherlands
www.hajeve-pictures.nl www.facebook.com/hajevepictures Instagram: hajeve_pictures
Working with people is what I like most. For a beautiful portrait photograph mutual cooperation and coordination are the keys, as are the shared ideas on what the end-result should be like. For me, making a portrait that could change the expressions of the viewer in an affirmative way, change the way one feels about themselves, something that is different from how one normally looks into a mirror, is what I take as a challenge. I am Dutch and I studied at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague. I have taught percussion, keyboard and piano for thirty-five years. My experience of those days in theater productions with overall design, musical content, choreography and costumes comes handy in designing and styling my current photo shoots. I am an autodidact photographer and passionate about my profession. I try to capture the different aspects of the unique individual in front of me, with careful attention to light conditions and background. I like to create a portrait that forces the viewer to look at it for a bit longer, provoking questions about who the subject really is, and what are their emotions and thoughts. What were the photographer’s intentions in making this portrait photo?
In my search for more creative development within portrait photography, I have started to work with artists of several disciplines. Combining photography and other art forms through styling of clothing and accessories is a new path in my development. The art forms I am currently working with are textile design and fashion design, while others are still in the pipeline. My work has been displayed at several expositions. The dates of expositions in 2020 can be found on my website. I dedicate this collection to my models: Dennis, Batimo, Matheus, Frances, Tom, Norain, Scott Miller, Sven, Valentin, Bas.
Models in order of appearance are: Dennis Batimo Matheus Frances Tom Norain Scott Miller Sven Valentin Angelov Bas Nillesen Matheus - Costume designed by Ward Warmoeskerken

NATASHA ATTARD Birkirkara, Malta
instagram.com/attardnatasha/ facebook.com/Nat-Sensual-and-Emotions-Photography-36628 9653980319/ Natasha entered the world of photography very recently, just two years back to be precise. After acquiring her first camera, a couple of standard lenses and taking some specialized courses on the subject, she shared her passion in street photography and seascapes. Her eye for detail soon caught the attention of her mentor, who strongly encouraged her to move to shooting portraits and even models. Initially she blatantly refused to involve herself in this area, however, she managed to take some very good shots during an event and that was the kickoff for her into portraiture. In order to be able to shoot models appropriately and in a professional manner through learning, she engaged herself in organizing successfully a couple of photographic workshops and also attending others’ abroad. Slowly but surely, through her unique style of shooting pictures and interaction, she started to leave an impression in this sector. Natasha never thinks she knows enough. She is always willing to explore, listen and learn on the subject with the aim of improving and producing high quality pictures which highlight the beauty of the subject in front of her lens. Her aim is to become a professional.

ROBERT LEEUWERINK Zaandam, the Netherlands
www.robtopfoto.nl www.instagram.com/robtopfoto www.facebook.com/robtopfoto I am Robert Leeuwerink, operating in the Netherlands as RobTopfoto. In 2016 I started as a volunteer for a concert venue, just after finishing my course at Shaw online photography academy. After some shoots for the venue, I felt that the photography bug had already bitten me, and therefore, I started looking for models. Since my themes attracted many children and their parents, I decided to focus on only children photography. I also started a special project photographing children with braces and also with extraordinary braces like headgears. I realized that the children didn’t like this, but the project still kept going on. The children eventually saw exactly what I wanted to let people see, that they were beautiful even with their braces on. The project became a great success and now the children would tell it to their classmates and friends who eventually told their parents and then, everybody wanted to do a shoot with their braces. Nowadays I specialize in fine art photography and high end portraits of children, with or without braces (winks). Besides this, I still do concert photography, but this is on a lower level now.

ROSARIO ASCIONE Santa Maria Capua Vetere, Italia
I have been participating in collective art exhibitions for some time now, and I have always been fascinated with the pictorial works in which, color emerges as a force
The color that brings it out for me is Red, which seems to embellish the bodies and harmonizes pictures. It enhances the body and binds all other colors, making the photo shoot well coordinated and vibrant. 82

SOURA NATH Kolkata, India
instagram.com/soura_nath facebook.com/souranathphotography5/ souraphotography25@gmail.com
I am an artist who constantly fights with his imagination. I believe in trusting my instincts to create my own personal world of photographic fantasy. My name is Soura Nath and I am a fashion and fine art photographer, born and raised in Barasat, sub-urban Kolkata, in India. Photography is my passion and I can't live without it.
My photography journey started at the age of 15 years. Fashion photography completely changed my way of experiencing life. From the moment I entered the photographic world I wanted to do it in my own creative style and use a unique language. I experimented with a variety of ideas to improvise myself. I love to dramatically play with lights and shadows to create a distinctly artistic frame. India’s some of the most celebrated fashion photographers Prabuddha Dasgupta, Rafique Sayed, Jayesh Sheth, Tarun Khiwal, Akash Das, etc are my biggest inspiration. My family and friends have been my strength and have always supported me in pursuance of my career. 94
