Reportage

Since the time Photography started, a significant, if not the most important, use of this form of communication has been the documentation of events. From sports to war, from political events and trade to the narration of common life events, in the streets, in cities, in villages or in the fields, it is all about the depiction of life and instances in their numerous forms. Sometimes it makes a story or a news that help us create awareness; while at others it creates a basis for a protest or an action. Nothing has ever made a greater impact on the mind of its viewers than a pictorial coverage of a real-life instance. Such is the purpose of this eBook and we sincerely hope that you will have the same feelings by the time you are done flipping through the last page.

LAURA FACCHINI Milano, Italia
facebook.com/laura.facchini.5 instagram.com/laly569 flickr.com/photos/laurafacchini/sets
I was born in Milan in 1969 and as a growing girl I soon realized I had a predisposition for photography. Over the years, this passion has increasingly become an important aspect of my life together with a strong enthusiasm. Traveling and exploring the world is another great passion of mine that combines perfectly with photography; I believe that both are complementary because taking pictures while traveling is a bit like traveling twice
I especially love visiting eastern countries where I enjoy using natural light to capture the expressions, attitudes and experiences on the faces of the inhabitants. Seizing the depth of a look, the beauty of a smile or the spontaneity of a gesture makes me come into contact with the soul of the person in front of me. The strong emotion that I have experienced in photographing people over the years has led me to prefer portrait photography. I think that through the expressive medium of photography my personality is represented, the trait that identifies my style, the emotions that I experience when I come into contact with places, people, cultures and traditions different from ours and all this I try to convey through the pictures I make. 22

LUCIANA TRAPPOLINO Lecce, Italia traluce64@gmail.com facebook.com/luciana.trappolino instagram.com/Traluce64
I was born in Orvieto on February 15th 1964, and graduated in Economics and Commerce from Sapienza University of Rome (Italy). I currently live in Lecce, where I work in a public company. Since I was a child I have cultivated a passion for photography. I have been a photographer by vocation and I have lived perennially with my Reflex for over thirty years. I participated in several exhibitions, including some promoted by the FIOF (International Fund for Photography) within the R-Evolution Photo Festival 2018.
I have won several competitions and received several mentions of honor, including those of the FIOF International Photographer Awards 2017 and 2018; again in 2018 I was a finalist at the Miami Street Photography Festival and winner with the 1st prize in the competition promoted by Amnesty International Italy. Some of my photos have been published in acclaimed photo magazines: including the National Geographic and the FIAF Yearbook. My photography is a travel report, an ethnic testimony of customs and traditions of other peoples, which in part, with the contamination of the Western world, are gradually being lost. I love to focus on portraiture, especially the candid ones, which comes from closer encounters with people, while trying to capture their beauty, emotions, and things beyond their mere visual appearance. 34

PAUL MEI Athens, Greece
facebook.com/paul.mei instagram.com/paulmei paulmeih.wixsite.com/street
My name is Paul Mei, and I was born and raised in Athens, Greece. In 1989 I earned my Bachelor of Science in Applied Computer Systems from Brunel University, London, UK. I have been involved in photography since my early 20s. In 2016 this interest turned into a deep passion, when I came across the documentary on Vivian Meier’s life and work.
Since then I have delved into the world of street photography, familiarizing myself with the works of international photographers. During this quest I came to appreciate the work of several international street photographers. My curiosity created an urge to visit many countries like Israel, Turkey, Italy, India among many. Ever since my first trip to Israel in January 2018, I would develop affinity to every single country that I visited. During these frequent travels since then I have been privileged to meet many charismatic photographers with whom I have established an excellent rapport. My association with them has given me the opportunity to hone and develop my own street photography skills. 58

SERGIO VOLANI Como, Italia
500px.com/SergioVolani sergiovolani.tumblr.com/
In the summer of 1971, at the age of 17, during the school holidays, I found a job to be able to buy a camera. This is when my journey into the world of photography began that continues even today and has evolved with the passage of time.
I continued with black and white for many years, also involving their development and printing, or sometimes the color slides, until in 2005 when the transition to digital took place. I had tried many genres, but had zeroed in on portraits glorifying the human figure, but in the recent years I have also been inclined towards nature, travel and reportage photography. I don't know how to use Photoshop but I also dislike the extreme elaborations that distort reality. I think the downside of digital is the absence of compulsion for printing of photos. We are bombarded with millions of photos of which only an ephemeral trace remains in our memory. I still like to read, study, visit exhibitions, follow great photographers, besides everything that revo lve s a ro u n d t h e m a g i ca l wo r ld o f photography. For me there is always something to learn. 70

VINCENT LECOLLEY Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, Philippines
facebook.com/Vincent.Lecolley.Photography flickr.com/photos/vlecolley/ instagram.com/vincent_lecolley/
I am Vincent, French photographer based in the Philippines, more exactly in Dumaguete, Negros Oriental. I totally fell in love with this country and its habitants since my first step here. This place also made me start with photography, wanting to transcribe what I was seeing with eyes or the emotions my heart felt.
One of my main photography projects is to photograph the manual workers in the Philippines to be able to pay tribute to those who are often not respected enough in their society. My method is simple: I would ride my motorbike, always with my fiancée (who is also my translator), and keep wandering on the road to be looking for encounters, landscapes culminating into beautiful photos. The authenticity of a situation by creating a real relationship with the people I photograph is very important to me... I always take time to talk to them and know them more. It culminates often into some moving stories and other times to a lasting friendship! 82
