The kitchen is the heart of the home. It’s a space for culinary creation, family gatherings, and lively conversations. For those wanting a kitchen that reflects their personality and lifestyle, luxury bespoke kitchens offer the ultimate expression of personalised design.
Unlike mass-produced kitchens, bespoke options are meticulously crafted to fit seamlessly into your space. Every detail, from the layout and cabinetry to the materials and finishes, is carefully considered to create a kitchen that not only looks stunning but also caters to your lifestyle. This level of customisation ensures a kitchen that flows effortlessly with your existing architecture and interior design scheme, be it a classic Georgian townhouse or a minimalist, open-plan living space.
The hallmark of a luxury bespoke kitchen lies in the quality of materials and craftsmanship. Artisans with a keen eye for detail employ time-honoured techniques to create beautiful and durable cabinetry. Solid woods like walnut, oak, and mahogany are popular choices, often complemented by granite, marble, or quartz countertops. High-end appliances seamlessly integrate into the design, adding a touch of functionality and sophistication.
But luxury goes beyond aesthetics. Bespoke kitchens are designed with ergonomics and functionality in mind. Skilled designers work closely with you to understand your cooking habits and create a layout that optimises workflow. Features like hidden storage solutions, integrated spice racks, and pull-out drawers for pots and pans ensure everything has its designated place, promoting a sense of order and efficiency.
The beauty of bespoke kitchens lies in their ability to accommodate specific requests. Do you dream of a walk-in pantry? Perhaps a built-in coffee station for that perfect morning ritual? Bespoke designers can translate these desires into reality.
Technology also plays a role in elevating the luxury bespoke kitchen experience. Integrated lighting systems can be programmed to create different moods, while smart appliances can be controlled with a touch or even a voice command.
The process of creating a bespoke kitchen is a collaborative journey. Renowned kitchen designers take the time to understand your vision, budget, and lifestyle. Through mood boards, material samples, and 3D renderings, you’ll be actively involved in shaping the design, ensuring the final product exceeds your expectations.
While the initial investment in a luxury bespoke kitchen may be higher than with mass-produced options, the benefits are undeniable. You’re not just buying a kitchen; you’re investing in a space that will be the heart of your home for years to come.
A bespoke kitchen is more than just a space for cooking; it’s a statement that elevates your everyday living experience. It’s a testament to the enduring value of quality craftsmanship and a space that will be enjoyed for generations to come.
This Alexandra home proves the Árbol difference. Amid a classic central Otago farm landscape sits a sustainable future in build form, Árbol’s modular blueprint for beautiful, offsite housing solutions.
The project began once the homeowners realised that Árbol’s off-the-shelf Pohutakawa design ticked all of their boxes. The build was delivered quickly and on budget.
Energy modelling and ventilation planning were prioritised to ensure design and performance went hand in hand.
Inside, monochromatic finishes meet mindful wood textures that nod to the home’s picturesque surroundings. There’s no better place to enjoy a simpler lifestyle.

“Árbol’s responsibility is to positively impact our environment, setting standards for homes where families make decades’ worth of memories.“
Marrying the transportable housing model with European high performance design and technology, the Pohutakawa house is sure to deliver consistently healthy, affordable, climate-resilient homes for countless fortunate Kiwis.
Árbol was founded out of frustration with New Zealand’s building standards that have led to cold, damp, and expensive-to-run homes. When co-owner Marcus Allen’s son Hendrix developed asthma thanks to a leaky and damp Fernhill rental, he knew there had to be a better way.
The Árbol difference is embracing low-energy standards, an airtight building envelope, uPVC low-e double-glazed windows, a mechanical heat recovery ventilation system, at least 40 per cent more insulation than national building code standards, and environmentally friendly materials everywhere possible.
Árbol’s responsibility is to positively impact our environment, setting standards for homes where families make decades’ worth of memories.
New Zealand-made and locally owned and operated, Árbol are architectural, energy efficient, environmentally responsible prefabricated homes.

Creating a luxury bespoke bathroom involves a blend of craftsmanship, high-quality materials, and personalised design.
This transforms a functional space into a sanctuary of elegance and comfort. These bathrooms go beyond standard fixtures and finishes, offering a tailor-made experience that caters to individual lifestyles.
The journey to a luxury bespoke bathroom begins with a thorough consultation. This phase allows designers to understand the client’s vision, preferences, and requirements. Every detail, from the layout and colour scheme to the choice of materials, is discussed. The aim is to create a cohesive design that reflects the client’s personality while optimising the space’s functionality.
Materials play an important role in achieving a high-end look. Natural stones such as marble and granite are popular choices, while exotic wood finishes, combined with sleek metals like brushed nickel or polished chrome, add sophistication. Bespoke cabinetry, crafted by skilled artisans, ensures that storage solutions are as beautiful as they are practical. Customisation extends to fixtures as well, with options for hand-carved stone sinks, freestanding bathtubs, and rainfall showers that elevate the experience.
Lighting is another critical element in luxury bathroom design. Strategically placed lighting fixtures, including chandeliers, sconces, and recessed lights, create an ambience that is both functional and inviting.
Every aspect, from the placement of towel warmers to the integration of advanced technology such as smart mirrors and underfloor heating, is carefully considered to provide maximum comfort and convenience.

Overlooking the dynamic waters of Dunedin’s Harbour in Port Chalmers, Ocean View is an exemplary residence constructed by Connor Jones Group in collaboration with architectural partner Parker Warburton Team Architects for owners Tom and Lara Connor.
This project, named Ocean View by Connor Jones Group, stands as a paragon of modern architecture, seamlessly integrating into its stunning natural surroundings.
The site’s steep gradient presented significant challenges, demanding a sophisticated architectural approach. The combined efforts of Connor Jones Group and Parker Warburton Team Architects resulted in a robust foundation and extensive retaining walls, essential for a stable building platform.
Every aspect of Ocean View is designed to maximise the natural beauty of its location. Each room faces southeast, capturing uninterrupted vistas of the harbour and hills, while the north-facing outdoor living area is perfectly positioned to enjoy summer sunlight. The home’s orientation enhances its aesthetic appeal and ensures a harmonious blend with the surrounding landscape.
Inside, Ocean View exudes a warm, organic ambiance, reflecting Lara Connor’s vision for a minimalist yet cosy family home. Inspired by renowned architects, Instagram, and the television show Grand Designs, Lara chose a soft, neutral, almost blush hue of eucalyptus timber for the interior. High-end finishes, such as Marrakesh plaster-finished walls, add a subtle Moroccan touch, while custom eucalyptus joinery, a custom steel pivot entry door, and a custom precast concrete wall with a woodgrain indent enhance the home’s sophisticated charm.
Central to the home is the kitchen, described by Lara as the heart of the house. Featuring an expansive island bench, it fosters a welcoming social atmosphere, perfect for gatherings and entertaining. The home’s comfort is further enhanced by underfloor heating in the upstairs concrete slab and radiators downstairs, maintaining a pleasant temperature throughout the year. While Ocean View is largely complete, the Connors are now focusing on landscaping, with curved rendered retaining walls currently being added. This phase promises to further enhance the home’s setting, with final touches expected by spring 2024.
Ocean View exemplifies the blending of innovative architectural solutions with the natural landscape. This residence captivates with its design excellence, offering a harmonious and functional living space that reflects the rhythms of its dynamic harbour environment. Landscaping trends are constantly evolving, offering homeowners new ways to enhance the beauty and functionality of their outdoor spaces.
For those with insightful tastes, incorporating the latest trends in landscaping can create a luxurious extension of their homes.
Eco-friendly continues to dominate trends, focusing on sustainability without compromising style. Drought-tolerant plants, permeable paving, and rain gardens not only help conserve resources but also add unique beauty to your property. These elements ensure your garden is both luxurious and environmentally conscious.
As families spend more time at home, outdoor spaces have transformed into multifunctional living areas.
High-end outdoor kitchens equipped with all the amenities, sophisticated lighting, and comfortable seating areas are perfect for entertaining. Adding elements like fire pits or outdoor fireplaces ensures these spaces can be enjoyed year-round.
Technology has made its way to the outdoors with smart irrigation systems and even robotic lawn movers. These innovations allow for more precise maintenance and control, ensuring your garden stays lush and perfectly groomed with minimal effort. Smart landscaping not only adds convenience but also elevates the overall efficiency and aesthetics of your outdoor space.
Integrating edible plants into your landscape design is a trend that combines luxury with practicality. Raised garden beds, attractive herb gardens, and fruit-bearing trees not only provide fresh produce but also add a sense of charm and abundance to your garden. Edible gardens are a delightful way to engage with your landscape actively.
Textured and intricately patterned pavements are gaining popularity in high-end landscaping. Materials like flagstone, cobblestone, and decorative bricks can be arranged in unique patterns to create visually striking pathways and patios. These features serve as both functional art and a showcase of craftsmanship.
For those with limited space, vertical gardening offers a stylish solution. Utilising trellises, wall planters, and green walls, this trend allows you to add greenery without sacrificing square footage. Vertical gardens can also improve privacy and reduce noise, enhancing the tranquillity of your outdoor area. By embracing popular landscaping trends, you can significantly enhance the functionality and aesthetic appeal of your property. Each trend offers a unique blend of style, luxury, and innovation, ensuring your outdoor space remains both contemporary and inviting.

Crystal Waters offers a luxurious getaway in Queenstown, New Zealand, perfect for those seeking a private and relaxing escape. Designed to capitalise on the stunning views of Lake Whakatipu and the Remarkable Mountain Range.
This architectural success was born from a simple brief: create intimate spaces to maximise the jaw-dropping views for visitors from all over the world to enjoy.
The journey to realise this vision was no easy feat; the site posed significant challenges. Josh Greer, Director and Project Manager of Construction Collaborative and owner of Crystal Waters, initiated the project, investing considerable time and effort in clearing the land to understand its contours. He brought Neil Slater from NJS Architects on board, who designed a floor plan that incorporated floor-to-ceiling glass in both the
living areas and bedrooms, strategically framing the uninterrupted views.
The narrow access lane hindered crane usage until the advanced stage of construction when the elevated parking platforms were completed. This resulted in the majority of the materials being carried down the hillside by hand; each concrete block to form the expansive retaining walls was slid down a timber chute one by one to overcome this logistical hurdle. However, once the steel portals went up, framing the panoramic views the challenges proved worthwhile.
In mid-2023, after months of dedication and hard work, Crystal Waters opened its doors to the public and now operates as luxury accommodation for visitors from all over the world. Owned and operated by Queenstown locals Allanah and Josh, the property offers four two-bedroom suites, each designed with comfort and style in mind. The suites feature expansive living spaces, fully equipped kitchens, and private balconies complemented by wood-burning stoves and elevated spa decks where guests can relax amidst the stunning views.
Crystal Waters proves how thoughtful design can seamlessly integrate with the environment. While words and images may capture its essence, the true beauty of this retreat lies in experiencing it firsthand.

Sitting in the undulating tapestry of Cromwell’s landscape, a precious gem of history and tradition lies quietly — Happy Valley Homestead.
Its origins date back to 1914, an era marked by craftsmanship and a deep respect for the land. Since its inception, this venerable abode has stood as a silent witness to the passage of time, a testament to the enduring spirit of those who have called it home. However, it wasn’t until the Henderson family assumed stewardship in 1946 that the homestead’s true potential began to unfurl.
Duncan and Rae Henderson, well-known figures in the local community, have dedicated more than 50 years to Happy Valley after taking over full ownership from Duncan’s parents in 1973.
Ideas and plans were formed in the homestead, but had to be delayed as Duncan suffered a serious work accident in 1984, with all resources having to go into maintaining and running the property. As time went by ideas and plans never went away. Three years ago, following a tenure review, they subdivided the homestead from the rest of the farm, then sold the farm.
Ideas and plans surfaced again, and they contacted the late Pete McGrath of Gemrock Design to create a plan for the old house and then contacted Cromwell Building Contractors to build it.

They embarked on a journey to not only preserve but also enhance the homestead’s legacy, culminating in a breathtaking renovation project that breathed new life into its aged walls.
The original structure, encompassing a modest 147 square meters, was a testament to early 20th-century architecture. Its sturdy stone walls, both inside and out, stood as a testament to craftsmanship of a bygone era.
As time marched on, the homestead yearned for modernisation while retaining the essence of its storied past. Duncan and Rae took up the mantle, heralding an era of transformation while honouring the homestead’s rich heritage. The renovation journey began with a vision to expand and revitalise the homestead, breathing new life into its aged bones.
An ambitious extension and alteration endeavour saw the house expand to an impressive 276 square meters, a testament to the Hendersons’ commitment to preserving the past while embracing the future.
The additions included two bedrooms, an office/ bedroom, an ensuite, two family bedrooms, a kitchen/ dining room, laundry, a conservatory and an outside toilet.
Every decision was made with the utmost care to preserve the homestead’s character. Original stone walls were retained, and new ones were added to seamlessly meld the old with the new.
The renovation process was a labour of love, with meticulous attention to detail evident in every facet. Rumi timber floors, sourced from sustainable forests,
graced the kitchen and entranceway, their rich hues adding depth and warmth to the space.
Timber ceilings, painstakingly replicated to match the original design, extended throughout the home, echoing the craftsmanship of yesteryears. Period fixtures adorned the tiled bathrooms, each detail carefully selected to evoke a sense of nostalgia and charm.
Behind this labour-intensive endeavour stood Cromwell Building Contractors, led by the skilled hands of Garry Morton and his dedicated team.
With over three decades of experience in the community, Garry and his wife Julie epitomise the spirit of craftsmanship and community involvement.
In a world of ever-changing landscapes, Happy Valley Homestead stands as a beacon of resilience and reverence for history.
It serves as a reminder that amidst the passage of time, some things remain timeless — a testament to the enduring legacy of Happy Valley Homestead and the remarkable individuals who have safeguarded its heritage.
As visitors wander its halls and gaze upon its storied walls, they are transported to a bygone era, where craftsmanship and tradition reign supreme.
