Savannah is known as one of the oldest cities planned in the United States, that’s why I wanted to create a “vortex” that links the historic district area of this city with the rest of the country. This will create a path towards the future, meaning that it will function as a transition between Savannah to modern cities around the West Side of the US or globe. The image at the left is a representation of my Derive, Savannah's city plan and it's relation with my proposed building. The images above are architectural precedents.
Site Plan
The location of the Savannah Train Station will help accomplish the goal of decreasing crime around the area whilst as uniting locals, increasing safety, and promoting local businesses. This project is based on a Derive, where I chose local businesses over larger companies after a long walk through the streets of Savannah. *Derive is defined as a mode of experimental behavior linked to the conditions of urban society.
Green Roof
In the design, I incorporated a clock tower and a facade composed with natural materials such as wood, stone, and glass. A transparent inner body will give a welcoming feeling to travelers, a clear circulation for easy navigation, and several outdoor areas for people to enjoy the day.

Crime rate will decrease since most of nearby crimes are burglary and theft. Since MLK and Monty will be more populated; with increased security and more lighting on the streets, this will lead to thiefs to abstain themselves to do crimes around this area.
Bus Routes Green Spaces are available for cyclists and pedestrians to cirulate around the city.
Bus Stops
Determined buses will go through MLK and all around the Historic District Center and will stop in severa nearby hotels. This will help the tourits to arrive to their destinations without having to take several buses. This will reduce the traffic and car congestion in MLK. The Light Rail will also help on the mobilization of people, being accesible for everyone.

The Enlightened Hand Retreat Center is based on French Rococo style from the 18th Century, commemorating the movement of the French Enlightenment. The unfolding of the Revolution was based on what was thought, said, advocated, and expressed in terms and categories that theorists came up with. What I want for people in this retreat center is the ability of finding themselves as they relate and contribute with the environment and community. One often seeks to help the community with the experience they gathered, that’s why the programming will focus on the social unification and personal growth.

French architecture demonstrates characteristics such as having steep roof pitches at varying heights, tall thin windows, and curved roofs. Rococo style in particular lead to the change of French Architecture style into developing more graceful curves and depicting the feeling of lightness. By being ornamented with light colors, asymmetrical designs, and curves, this successful style brought significant changes to structures by emphasizing on privacy rather than vast public architecture. The interior design was considered as a total workof art with its ornamental mirrors, tapestry with intricate reliefs and walls paintings.
