Supersports 2022

OUTDOOR SPORTS YOUR SUMMER SUPER BOOSTER

We’ve all heard about the nutritional value of superfoods. This summer and autumn, we’re thinking supersports with Yoga, tennis, e-biking and mountain biking – our brilliant body and soul boosters!

An exciting day of leisure opportunities in the Stubai Valley lies ahead. The sky is blue and the mountain peaks glisten in the morning sun. It’s early and, as we absorb the Alpine ambience, the air still feels fresh. Our healthy Jagdhof breakfast has provided us with plenty of energy for our race to the Yoga mat, tennis court, Alpine pastures or mountain trails. Today will be varied, challenging and action-packed. Tomorrow? We’ll opt for leisure, tranquillity and harmony with nature. But what is the added health value of our supersports – Yoga, tennis, e-biking and mountain biking? We asked our exercise enthusiasts Claudia, Niklas and Alban to explain.

Yoga: Mindfully Towards Serenity

Do you think anyone should try Yoga?

Claudia Pfurtscheller: Yes, definitely. Exercise is always a good thing, whatever your stage of life. Yoga can be both gentle and physically challenging – in the sense that it’s great for strength training as well as being relaxing. I try to bring plenty of variety to my Yoga sessions by focusing on different areas of the body such as the hips or the heart.

Why is Yoga so ideal for bringing harmony to mind, body and spirit?

Claudia Pfurtscheller: During a Yoga class, we focus on the here and now. This frees us from burdensome and circular thoughts. This level of serenity can be difficult to achieve as we go about our daily lives because we can often get stuck in the past or start worrying about an uncertain future. During a Yoga lesson, however, most of us are able to let go and immerse ourselves in the dynamics and flow of the posture sequences.

Tennis: Concentration, Coordination & Mental Toughness

What, in your opinion, are the sport’s main benefits?

Niklas Sanin: Tennis satisfies a fundamental need for physical and mental challenges. This ranges from learning basic strokes all the way to battling for points. The combination of strength, endurance, speed, flexibility and coordination is ideal. Fun also has an important role to play.

How does tennis affect health and fitness?

Niklas Sanin: The high level of energy expenditure within a short period is remarkable: between 400 and 600 calories per hour! Here in the Stubai Valley, this is intensified by the benefits of training at altitude.

E-Biking & Mountain Biking: Freedom & Independence

What is it you love about mountain biking?

Alban Pfurtscheller: Mostly, it’s the feeling of freedom and independence you get. In our region, you can cover more than 700km by bicycle – that’s almost the distance between Neustift and Rome. It’s a great way to explore and enjoy the Stubai Valley’s varied landscape ... and its cuisine, of course!

When your guests ask you to recommend a route to them, what do you suggest? Alban Pfurtscheller: Before I make any recommendations, I find out about their fitness levels. There are a few easy routes that I like to recommend to beginners because they allow them to get used to mountain biking or using e-bikes. In this case, my favourite is the ride to Klaus Äuele.
