We Build Belonging

For 12 consecutive years, The United Family has taken part in feeding more than 167,000 families, and it all started with an apple. Over the years, communities across the company have each received numerous apple donations to their local food banks, which have helped nourish the lives of many.

In 2022, 50,000 pounds of apples were donated across Texas and New Mexico, as part of the annual Take a Bite Out of Hunger program. Throughout the years of this program, The United Family has given back to the community through more than 500,000 pounds of apples, and the number continues to grow. Community areas receiving apple donations in 2022 were Lubbock, Amarillo, Dallas, Midland/Odessa, San Angelo, Wichita Falls, Texas, in addition to Clovis and Albuquerque, New Mexico.

“We are so proud to continue the tradition of the Take a Bite Out of Hunger donations to food banks across our communities,” said Joseph Bunting, produce business director for The United Family. “In our twelfth year of this program, we understand how much these donations mean to the food banks and the families they serve.”

This donation marks a continuing commitment by The United Family as an original partner of the Take a bite Out of Hunger program, sponsored by FirstFruits Marketing of Washington. FirstFruits created the program to help feed the underserved while bringing attention to the problem of food insecurity in the United States.

From apples to community, The United Family is proud to provide both.
