THE FAMILY

Continues to Grow

by JOEY MARCADES

Earlier this year, The United Family announced expansion in Wichita Falls, bringing its overall footprint the city to four locations. This growth will bring the total number of stores in The United Family to 97.

The new store in Wichita Falls will be under the United Supermarkets banner, and it is being built in the southwest part of the city to better serve guests in that area. This new location will likely bring on 200 or more new team members.

History with The United Family runs deep in this part of Texas, with its first store opening in Wichita Falls nearly 60 years ago.

“United first came to Wichita Falls in 1963, and we have greatly enjoyed that partnership,” said Sidney Hopper, president of The United Family. “Wichita Falls was also the location of the first Market Street in our company back in 1998 and today we are glad to announce that we will open our fourth store at this location. It is a great community to serve.”

Slated for an early 2023 opening, the new location will feature a full-service pharmacy with everything from prescriptions to immunizations and a drive-through window. In addition, there will be a Streetside department, Ready Meals section, full-service deli/hot bar, fresh sushi, bakery and extensive craft beer and wine department.

“We are excited to expand our footprint in the Wichita Falls community,” said Allen Smith, RVP for the area. “Our company has been part of this city for almost six decades. We can’t wait to continue to invest in this area!”

Speaking of investing in the community, it doesn’t go unnoticed by Wichita Falls city leadership.

At the announcement event for the store, Mayor Pro Tem Bobby Whiteley reflected on the investment The United Family makes in the community.

“United Supermarkets continues to invest in Wichita Falls, whether it is supporting efforts with the Food Bank, the arts community or education,” Whiteley said. “Many of our youth have gotten their first job sacking groceries at a United or Market Street store. This new store will bring jobs and expand the commerce in this neighborhood with a completely renovated building. It is great for Wichita Falls.”
