From the Editor! Hi everyone and welcome to our Autumn edition of the Weather Report. I was lucky enough to have a nice long holiday over Xmas and travelled with my wife and three daughters to Java for 3 weeks. What a great experience we had. We travelled through the central Java Mountains for a week, Jogyakarta and Borobudur for a week and another week in a tiny seaside village of Batu Karas. The Javanese were absolutely delightful and we were treated like rock stars everywhere we went. We finished our holiday with four days in Bali staying in Sanur. It was like being on long service leave having four weeks off, something I haven’t done for more than 10 years. So if you are looking for a good cheap holiday with a bit of adventure and away from the maddening crowds of Bali I can highly recommend a Javanese holiday. Already looking forward to our next trip to a different part of Java! We finally installed our display Bali hut out the front of the WeatherSafe factory. It has been sitting on the pallet waiting patiently for our install guys to get a break in their busy schedule to put it up. It looks fantastic and was relatively easy to install. We are now ready to take orders so come and check it out. I think I might even get one at my place I’m so impressed with the finished product.
We have done some great shade jobs over the summer months that I’m really proud to show off to everyone in this seasons newsletter. Some fabulous shade structures at Beachlands Caravan Park in Busselton, an awesome carpark structure in Collie and some really neat Gazebo’s in Bunbury’s café strip. It proves the team at WeatherSafe WA will travel anywhere in the south west to solve your sun wind and rain problems. Thanks to everyone who has entered into our competitions, we have had an amazing response to every competition we have run except our golf competition where we did not get one entry! Typical bloody golfers, come on you guys I expect to see a heap of golf pictures from you for next edition. This time around we are running a Mothers day competition and all you have to do is come in and make a purchase at WeatherSafe. Spend up to $200 and get 1 ticket in the draw and another ticket for every $200 you spend. The more you spend the more chances you get to win. OK that’s enough from me. Have an enjoyable Autumn and I will talk to you all agin in the winter edition of the Weather Report! Cheers,
Mark Lewis Mark Lewis General Manager
Hi Mark, I am happy to express my appreciation & Satisfaction with my (includes my wife Liz) total experience I had in obtaining the caravan related canvas product from “Weathersafe”. The concept was a bit of a “one off” design but your staff assisted in refining my original drawings to produce a professional “stand alon e” product. From the time my wife and I walked into you r reception, we had the feeling we were more amongst friends than among strangers. The service provided in all aspects was excellent and I shall suggest that your organis ation could be used as a “service model” for many other bus inesses in Bunbury. Frank & Liz Burrell

The Shady Beachlands Holiday Park Situated at an idyllic beach side location, Beachlands Holiday Park in Busselton is the perfect family holiday destination. With a delightful kids play ground and an inviting outdoor swimming pool, Beachlands had everything a holidaying family requires – except for adequate shade. As we all know, Australia does have the draw back of a harsh summer sun. In a holiday situation, the enjoyment of a sparkling pool and playground can be limited if we don’t have adequate protection from the sun. With a combination of cantilevers and span shades, the team at WeatherSafe set about constructing and installing cantilever and span shade structures to solve Beachlands lack of shade problem. For the playground area we constructed a 17 metre long double span shade. Covered in ‘Monotec” shade cloth , one of the best quality fabrics on the market today , in a stunning combination of “bubblegum” pink and “mellow haze” , the structure provides a focal point to the playground as well as casting a 93% shade. As with all our shade products, the span shade was constructed to engineers specifications and is a highly functional, exceptionally strong and pleasing to the eye structure. Positioned over the kid’s pool area, we provided a cantilever that projects out over the pool. A further 2 cantilevers were constructed and stationed at the rear of the poolside lounge area, providing shelter for those relaxing poolside. Again, these structures were covered in Monotec cloth to provide adequate UV protection. As with all our tension structures, the poles and fittings are engineered to last.
With installation complete , happy Beachlands holiday makers, can enjoy their leisure time in a sun protected area

Gardening Tips With Kylie Gardening Tips from Our Resident Green Thumb Hi there everyone. What an exciting start to the New Year. Recently I moved into a lovely character style home in central Bunbury. Along with the ambience these lovely homes radiate, they almost always come with a sizeable block and established if not over grown gardens. In my case it’s the latter! As my garden has always been a source of joy for me, I am looking forward to establishing a fresh vegie patch, tidying up and introducing some new plants for the Autumn months. One of my favourite veggies to plant in Autumn is silverbeet and spinach .These vegetables are simple to grow and is handy in so many winter dishes such as soups and casseroles. Other good winter vegies are broccoli, peas, spring onions, cauliflower and carrots, again, great vegies to throw into a belly satisfying dish! Don’t forget the love and use some compost and fertilizer regularly.
Autumn is also the ideal time to plant bulbs, citrus trees, spring-flowering annuals and roses. By purchasing deciduous plants now, you will see the beautiful autumn colours next year. After the hot summer months you will find some spent and dried foliage. Tidy up perennials, get rid of dead wood and cut vines and hedges back. If you have any deciduous trees, collect the leaves and add them to the compost heap .Take advantage of the cooler climate to take cuttings from hard wood herbs such as Rosemary. So essentially, Autumn is the season to preparing the garden to accept new plants and revitalise those that have survived our harsh summer. Seeya in the winter, Kylie XXX
Thank You For Noticing! Positive Feedback Fuels Us! professional advice and exceptional service . Along with Kylie, Jamie, our factory foreman surpassed a customer’s expectation of customer service A few weeks ago we had a lovely customer who had recently been widowed. Purchasing tonneau buttons for her canopy, she was unsure how to go about the process of attaching them. Still very emotional and distressed with the passing of her husband, Kylie consoled her while Jamie set about fastening the tonneau buttons to the canopy . As the woman was about to pay, Kylie and Jamie informed her that there was no charge for installation. Overcome by the gesture, the customer later sent a lovely gift of a plant along as a thank you. As any business owner would know, feedback on products and services is a valuable tool to gauge how your business is performing, areas that it can improve and to reaffirm your strengths. At WeatherSafe, we are fortunate enough to have great team members who continuously receive positive feedback for their customer service. Kylie Russell, our sales assistant is the quintessential smiley face in our office. Warm, friendly and exuberant, Kylie delights and charms customers, offering sound
As a family business, WeatherSafe pride ourselves in old fashioned customer service, something that has been lost over the years in changing landscape of business. Our customers are considered part of our family and we are proud to say that we have a high percentage of repeat customers for this very reason. To receive positive feedback is powerful and inspiring for any business and confirmation that the best possible result is being achieved. Well done Kylie and Jamie!

Joyce’s Cooking Corner Mediterranean Couscous Salad Hello everybody, hope you all had a relaxing, enjoyable Christmas break and New Year. With a lovely 2 week break I was able to indulge in many of my favourite recipes and this one is right up there in the taste stakes! Even though I call it a “salad” it really is a meal on its own. The great thing about this recipe is that it’s very versatile, so you can substitute or add other vegies. This is what you’ll need: • • • • • • • • • • • • •
250g couscous 250ml vegetable stock, boiling (commercial kind will do) 400g can chickpeas, drained and rinsed 1-2 tbsp olive oil 300g zucchini (or eggplant) sliced or diced , which ever you prefer 300g cherry tomatoes, halved 250g pack haloumi cheese, thickly sliced and then halved lengthways Dressing 125ml olive oil 3 tbsp lime juice 2 large garlic cloves, finely chopped 2 tbsp chopped fresh mint ½ tsp sugar
Method 1. Pour couscous into boiling stock over and mix well with a fork. Take it off the stove and Cover with a plate and leave for a few minutes. Meanwhile, throw all the dressing ingredients into a bowl and mix well. Fluff up the couscous with a fork, stir in the chickpeas and follow with half the dressing. Mix well and pile on to a large serving dish. 2. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a frying pan and fry the zucchini over a high heat for 2-3 minutes until dark golden brown. Drain on kitchen paper. Toss the tomatoes cut-side down into the pan, and cook for another couple of minutes until tinged brown on the underside. Top the couscous with the Zucchini and then the tomatoes. Add the haloumi strips and fry for 2-3 minutes, turning them over from time to time, until crisp and brown. Pile on top of the tomatoes, and drizzle with the remaining dressing.
We have all had the uncomfortable feeling of jumping into a sweltering car after leaving it in the searing sun. Unfortunately, living in this wonderful country of ours, it’s very much a fact of life. Not only is the heat unbearable, the damage both on interior and exterior of vehicles can cause visible wear and tear. Recently WeatherSafe WA constructed two 30 metre cantilever structures at the Goods Shed Car Park area for the Shire of Collie all day parking area. Covered in long lasting water proof PVC this structure now provides protection from the sun and rain and makes getting in and out of the car a more pleasant experience. The great thing about cantilevers is that they are fixed, permanent structures with upright poles on one side of the structure, leaving the other side totally unimpeded by poles. They are an extremely durable structure and resistant to all extremes of weather. Cantilevers also lend themselves to a variety of applications from providing shade for a backyard swimming pool (see our article on Beachlands), an extension to an outdoor living area or in many commercial and industrial situations.

What a stylish statement to Victoria Street new alfresco dining structures create! Out door or “alfresco” dining has become increasingly fashionable not only in Bunbury but other towns and cities where indoor dining was the norm. Those of a certain vintage will remember Bunbury, in particular Victoria St, there was no alfresco dining except for a beer garden or two! Wandering down for brunch in the café strip a few Sundays ago, it was evident how popular outdoor dining has become when I struggled to find a table!
