CSUSB Adventure Our program offers something for everyone! Our trips are designed for the beginner and enjoyed by the experienced adventurer. Trips are planned and led by qualified CSUSB students.
Who Can Participate? Registration may be limited to CSUSB students, faculty, and staff due to Covid-19. Check our website for current eligibility. SRWC Members are able to register for trips online at csusb.edu/adventure or in person at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center on the San Bernardino Campus. Current Non-fee paying faculty, staff, retired/emeritus faculty/ staff, continuing students, visiting faculty, and CSUSB Alumni Association Members, Affiliates, and Sponsored Guest can register for trips in person at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center on the San Bernardino Campus.
Includes All trips include round trip transportation (usually in 12 passenger vans), food is often included on trips, personal gear (sleeping bags, backpacks, wetsuits, etc.), group gear (tents, stoves, kayaks, etc.), campground fees, activity instruction, and qualified leaders. Difficulty Level Although no experience is required to participate some trips require more physical fitness than others. Our trips are divided into 4 levels of difficulty. Please see our website for specific trip difficulty levels.

Snow Valley Learn to Snowboard
12/14 Tues | 1/3 Mon | 1/12 Wed 7:30am - 5pm Activity Level: 2 Located between Running Springs and Big Bear, Snow Valley offers an escape from the much busier slopes of Bear Mountain and Snow Summit. We will leave campus at 730am for a short drive up the hill and gear up. We will start with a lesson for those that need it and spend the day on the slopes. This trip is perfect for both beginners who need a bit more instruction and those of us who think we are Shaun White and are ready to hit up the terrain park. We will be arriving back at campus around 600pm. No experience is required as instruction will be provided. Snow Valley Learn to Ski
1/5 Wed 7:30am-5:00pm Activity Level: 2 CSUSB Adventure travels to Snow Valley where you will get a ski rental package, a 1.5 hour group lesson for first timers, plus a lower mountain lift ticket valid on Lifts 6 & 13. After your lesson you will be free to practice what you learned before we head back down the hill to CSUSB. Big Bear Pedal and Paddle Weekend
9/25-9/26 Sat 10:00am–Sun 4:00pm Activity Level: 2 Escape the heat at 7000 feet near Big Bear Lake! We will set up camp at Serrano Campground and go for a bike ride on the Alpine Pedal Path. At night we will relax by the campfire and check out the stars. The next morning, we will canoe on the lake before breaking camp. We will stop by the village for lunch and exploration to end the trip. Sequoia Camp and Explore
10/1-10/3 Fri 12:00pm–Sun 10:00pm Activity Level: 3 Sequoia National Park is home to deep canyons, caverns, mountains, and the world’s largest trees, giving us plenty to see and explore! Join us on this three-day, two-night adventure as we explore some of the best this area has to offer including Crystal Caves, Morro Rock and General Sherman, the biggest tree in the world. Death Valley Camp and Explore
11/5-11/7 Fri 12:00pm–Sun 10:00pm Activity Level: 3 Death Valley National Park is a place filled with great beauty and natural wonderments! We will camp and explore the dramatic colors of the desert landscape as well as the historical features of the park. We plan to visit Badwater, the lowest point in the western hemisphere at 282 feet below sea level as well as explore the lunar landscape of Zabriskie Point, play on the sand dunes, and much more. Yosemite Thanksgiving
11/25-11/28 Thurs 8:00am–Sun 8:00pm Activity Level: 3 Yosemite National Park is one of the first wilderness parks and the most popular in the United States. Yosemite is best known for its waterfalls, but within its 1,200 square miles of wild lands you will find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, and much more. We will be staying at the Yosemite Bug in heated tent cabins just outside the valley and taking day trips to view the thousand foot granite walls, some of which include the famous El Capitan, exploring the valley and taking in the scenery. The lower Colorado River is moving flat water with no rapids - just beautiful green waters. It is perfect for beginner and seasoned paddlers alike. San Jacinto Backpack
9/18-9/19 Sat 10:00am–Sun 8:00pm Activity Level: 4 Mount San Jacinto is the second highest most prominent mountain in Southern California. It is home to magnificent granite rock faces, alpine forests, and wildflower covered meadows. Our journey begins with a ride on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. After a short 2 mile hike we will set up camp. After a good night’s rest we will attempt to summit before packing up camp and return to CSUSB. Grand Canyon Winter Backpack
12/17-12/21 Thurs 9:00am–Mon 10:00pm Activity Level: 4 The Grand Canyon is one of the most visited national parks in the United States, but most people only get to see it from the rim of the canyon. Enjoy four days in the canyon backpacking under the snow covered rim. Snow generally doesn’t fall into the canyon itself but makes for gorgeous views from inside. Possible snowy conditions together with backpacking make this a great and unforgettable experience! Activity Level: 2 SoCal is a prime location for surfing. If you have ever wanted to learn to surf, this is the trip for you! Our enthusiastic leaders will give you a shore lesson and help you catch some waves. Come and enjoy a day surfing and playing Frisbee on the beach. There will also be plenty of time to play in the sand, join a game of beach volleyball or stroll along the coast line. The Los Angeles Graffiti and Mural scene- especially in Downtown LA- has been undergoing a renaissance the past few years, fueled by an absolutely amazing cadre of local artists, joined by some of the best from around the globe. Our tour takes you to the famous Downtown Los Angeles Arts District, where you’ll learn about graffiti, street /urban art and murals from artists who have called this neighborhood home for decades. After the tour we will have lunch and check out a few more places in DTLA. The state-of-the-art CSUSB Leadership Challenge Center provides unique team building and leadership development programs for CSUSB students, departments, clubs, teams, schools, businesses, as well as the community. Our programs are designed to help and teach a person how to appropriately build trust in others; empower a person to develop skills necessary to be part of a healthy community; and increase individual interpersonal skills, social skills and physical abilities. Our goal is to provide well-maintained top-quality equipment at the lowest prices. So please take advantage of what we offer. We encourage you to rent some gear from us and explore our surroundings. Adventure Leadership Program (ALP) Become a CSUSB Adventure Trip Leader! Develop your outdoor leadership skills through this interactive and exciting course! Participants will be learning both leadership and technical skills in classroom sessions and on adventure trips. Technical skills include equipment, food preparation, logistics and clothing needs. Leadership topics include decision making, critical thinking, informal interpretation, teaching skills, leadership qualities and styles. Take this opportunity to expand your leadership abilities.

Prerequisites
In order to register for the Adventure Leader Program course, you must be CSUSB student, faculty or staff, have a CA Driver License, pass a background check, and have a minimum of a 2.0 GPA. This course is required to apply and interview to become a Volunteer CSUSB Adventure Leader.
