CSUSB Adventure offers something for everyone! Our trips are designed for the beginner and enjoyed by the experienced adventurer. Trips are planned and led by qualified CSUSB student leaders.
Who Can Participate
Includes
CSUSB Students, SRWC Members, Faculty, and Staff are able to register for trips online at adventure.csusb.edu or in person at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center on the San Bernardino Campus. Alumni Association Members, Affiliates, and Sponsored Guest can register for trips in person at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center on the San Bernardino Campus.

All trips include round trip transportation (usually in 12 passenger vans), food is often included on trips, personal gear (sleeping bags, backpacks, wetsuits, etc.), group gear (tents, stoves, kayaks, etc.), campground fees, activity instruction, and qualified leaders. Although no experience is required to participate some trips require more physical fitness than others. Our trips are divided into 4 levels of difficulty. Please see our website for specific trip difficulty levels.

Consistently ranked as America’s Favorite City, San Francisco is a beautiful city with many adventures to offer. On this 3-night, 4-day trip we will explore the best the city has to offer by bike, by foot and by boat. Highlights include: cable car ride, Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39, biking over the Golden Gate Bridge, ferrying across the bay, Alcatraz Island, hiking Muir Woods, Coit tower and more! Don’t miss out on this fun-filled weekend to one of the most iconic cities in America!
With Zion’s massive sandstone cliffs of cream, pink, and red that soar into a brilliant blue sky, you are guaranteed a trip to remember. With 3 nights in the park we will be able to explore Kolob Canyon, Hidden Canyon, Kenyeta Trail, the Narrows, and the Emerald pools! A highlight will include a hike the famous Angels Landing trail filled with switchbacks ascending over sheer cliffs with chains bolted on the rock face to serve as handrails.

We will explore some of the beautiful sights of Eastern Sierra on this weekend excursion. Sequoia National Park is home to deep canyons, caverns, mountains and the world’s largest trees, giving us plenty to see and explore! Join us on this three-day, two night adventure as we explore some of the best this area has to offer including Crystal Caves, Morro Rock and General Sherman, the biggest tree in the world.
Mojave National Preserve is one of California’s National Preserves. On this two-day trip we will explore lava tubes, summit the 650’ high Kelso Dunes, explore Mitchell Caverns, and hike the “Hole-in-the-Wall” Trail. We will be traveling by foot and car by day and night will be filled with warm campfires and s’mores.

Yosemite National Park is one of the first wilderness parks and the most popular in the United States. Yosemite is best known for its waterfalls, but within its 1,200 square miles of wild lands you will find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, and much more. While there, we will be camping in the valley and taking side trips to view the thousand foot granite walls, some of which include the famous El Capitan, exploring the valley and taking in the scenery. Our backpacking trip will take place across Zion National Park. We will enter the backcountry via the La Verkin Creek Trail and make our way the East Entrance trailhead. On this adventure we will travel about 47 miles through Zion in a span of 5 days on the trail enjoying vivid views of the meadows, plateaus, sheer cliffs and Zion’s many canyons. Enjoy one of the greatest backpacking trips in the Eastern Sierra. After spending a night acclimatizing we will backpack along Big Pine Creek to the legendary Palisades, the longest spine of 13,000-14,000-foot peaks in the lower 48 states. We will travel 16 miles (3600’ elevation gain) over 3 days; exploring several of the alpine lakes and the largest glaciers in the Sierras. Be sure to have some good boots and full camera battery, you’ll need them.
Listed as one of the “Best Hikes Ever,” the top-down hike in the Narrows of Zion can only be described as unforgettable. We will begin or 15 mile journey at Chamberlin Ranch and travel through a slot canyon with sheer cliffs rising a thousand feet above you called the “The Narrows”. We will be camping on the banks of the Virgin River halfway down and complete our adventure the next day. You are guaranteed an adventure you will never forget.

Cool down and head to the beaches of La Jolla with CSUSB Adventure where you can swim, snorkel and enjoy the wildlife. Snorkelers will see lots of Garibaldi, the California state fish, as well as half-moon, yellow tails, sardines, rockfish and even some friendly leopard sharks. After exploring the shallow seabed, we will head to Torrey Pines State Reserve to explore the high broken cliffs and deep ravines overlooking the ocean. The Middle Fork of the American is the perfect mix of thrills and amazing scenery. This Class IV river is ideal for the thrill-seekers, experienced rafters or athletic beginners. With 18 miles of whitewater this adventure is sure to thrill. Experience the unique tunnel chute rapid; a tunnel blasted through the mountain back in the gold mining era. We will camp 2 nights right on the South Fork American River in Lotus, CA and visit the Marshall Gold Discovery State Park where the California Gold Rush began. On the way home we will make a stop in Old Town Sacramento before returning to CSUSB. We will start with a lesson for those that need it and spend the day on the slopes. This trip is perfect for both beginners who need a bit more instruction and those of us who think we are Shaun White and are ready to hit up the terrain park. We will be arriving back at campus around 600pm. Includes lesson, lift ticket, gear and transportation. Come join us for a full day of outdoor climbing in the high desert. New Jack City has over 450 sport climbs with a variety of climbs for any skill level. The metamorphic rock makes for some tricky formations for some more thought provoking and creative climbs! You will learn basic knots, belaying and climbing technique.

We will have various team building and climbing challenges for all abilities. Ride the zipline, jump for the trapeze or walk across a balance bean 30 feet in the air. adventure leadership program Become a CSUSB Adventure Trip Leader! Develop your outdoor leadership skills through this interactive and exciting course. Participants will be learning both leadership and technical skills in classroom sessions and on adventure trips.
