FPR is a team on the rise, and we hope to receive some fantastic coverage with our logo placed in front of the team’s in-car cameras, as well as on the team uniforms and on Will’s helmet. James Moffat is a star in the making, his performances in his first full season last year for Dick Johnson Racing were outstanding. James is a star in the making, and has the right team behind him to get the job done. His number 18 machine is the very car that James Courtney drove to the championship victory in 2010, so keep an eye on our young charge as the season progresses. Speaking of legends, John Bowe is back for more in 2012 with his awesome Mustang in the Touring Car Masters. JB has won everything there is to win in Australian motorsport, and just keeps on keeping on. Last year he managed to add the TCM title to his long list of career achievements, and he will be looking to repeat the performance this year. Last but not least is Team Motologic in the Australian Superbike Championships. The team stays the same as last year- Jamie Stauffer and Wayne Maxwell on Hondas, with the combination proving successful in 2011. Under the leadership of Superbike guru Paul Free, Wayne and Jamie will be two to watch as the season goes on.

W
ill Davison’s dominance of this year’s V8 Supercar season continued in Hamilton in New Zealand two weeks ago, where he won his third Championship race of the season. Davison extended his Championship lead to 21 points ahead of defending Champion Jamie Whincup, heading into the Perth race weekend. “It certainly was a tough weekend in Hamilton, and obviously starting in sixth for the opening race wasn’t ideal for me,” Will Davison said. “But it was great to come away with another win, and to extend my lead against Jamie Whincup is fantastic because I know he’ll come at me hard in Perth.” Davison has never won a race at Barbagallo Raceway, however he heads into the weekend with the knowledge that he has finished on the podium after every Championship race so far this season. “I can’t wait to start racing in Perth again. I finished third in the opening race of the weekend last year, and if I can replicate that this weekend I will be very happy.” Teammate Mark Winterbottom is also in good form heading into Perth after his thrilling win in the final ever Championship race held in Hamilton. Winterbottom held off defending Champion Jamie Whincup in the final lap to win by less than a second. “To win the race and to run from the front of the field was a great achievement in New Zealand,” Mark Winterbottom said. Winterbottom is now third on the Championship standings and has a good race record at Barbagallo Raceway, where he won all three races in 2008 “I love going to Perth, the atmosphere’s great and it’s a very challenging circuit, which makes for excellent racing.” James Moffat has started to pick up speed with his car, after he recorded his best qualifying of the season at the Hamilton race weekend. Moffat qualified in the top 10 for both races on the street circuit. However, he couldn’t replicate those good performances in the Championship races. “It was great to qualify in the top 10 for both races but overall it was a frustrating weekend,” James Moffat said. “The car was good on the hard tyres, but had not enough pace at all on the softs, so I was really struggling and we lost a lot of track position because of it. “I am really looking forward to seeing how the car will go on the circuit in Perth.”

Doric Duo Rock Darwin
D
oric riders Wayne Maxell and Jamie Stauffer had mixed fortunes at Hidden Valley in Darwin, for round two of the Australian Superbike Championships.
Maxwell finished the weekend in second position overall, after finishing on the podium in both races; while teammate Stauffer finished in fifth place overall for the weekend. “To finish second for Round Two is great, and I have moved up in the championship rankings to fifth, which is a reasonable start to the season,” Wayne Maxwell said. “The team will make some changes before we head to Perth this weekend and I know we will definitely be ready to battle for the win again!” “It was a tough weekend for me at Hidden Valley, as I struggled to get a good drive out of the corners and so lack competitive speed,” Jamie Stauffer said. “However, I know the team will be hard at work to make the relevant changes to the bike, so in Perth I can get back to the front of the field.”

JB Starts 2012 with a win at Clipsal
J
ohn Bowe has got off to the perfect start this season as he aims to defend his 2011 Touring Car Masters title.
Bowe dominated the opening round of the Series at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide, where he won two out of the three races. “When you win the round it’s a good thing to achieve. The car has always been good here, it suits the circuit,” John Bowe said.
Product Spotlight
“The only hiccup in Adelaide was that we sustained damage to the bonnet. We were really surprised when we had a supporter lend me the bonnet of his ’69 Mustang from his road car, which is just amazing to have that support.” Bowe’s car which is nicknamed ‘Mustang Sally’ had a makeover before the first event of the season in Adelaide. Every part of ‘Sally’ was dismantled and rebuilt, she was also given a new and improved engine. “Sally went really well in the opening race of the season. She is running as smooth as ever,” Bowe said. The next event on the Touring Car Masters calendar is at Phillip Island in May, where Bowe is keen to keep his early season success going.
The AWA award winning designed hinge has recently undergone some further enhancements to allow it to better suit the growing trend of larger commercial doors. No other hinge on the market allows for simple adjustment once fitted like the DH40X. This award winning hinge delivers value for money, style and performance. Performance Features: •
“This series just keeps getting better with all the cars and drivers lifting their game. The competition is definitely getting tighter and each race is becoming more of a workout!
•
“I haven’t raced Sally at Phillip Island in a long time,
•
• •
so I’m keen to see how she goes here.”
Off the track and Bowe has been busy visiting family in America and attending the Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park.
• •

Barbagallo Preview
T
he Barbagallo Raceway circuit is compact, and should provide some exciting racing for drivers and spectators. There are some good passing opportunities on turn six and seven, and it won’t just be the other cars that the drivers will need to look out for. Passing winds often blow sand onto the circuit, making the surface unpredictable to race on. Going on recent form, it would be hard to tip against Doric driver Will Davison to finish on the podium this weekend. The current series leader is in the best
12
form of his career, and will be very hard to beat on the circuit. Mark Winterbottom is also a front runner and race winner for FPR, so the inter-team battle will be worth watching. Mark’s impressive performance in Hamilton saw him cement third position on the Championship standings and extend his lead to 100 points over the fourth placed Craig Lowndes. James Moffat will be looking for another top 10 qualifying performance in Perth, with the aim of repeating that sort of finish in the races.
The TeamVodafone duo of Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes have dominated the Perth circuit over the last two race weekends and could prove difficult to beat.Out of the last five races on this circuit, they have won four of them. Garth Tander, Karl Reindler and Dean Fiore will also be in the mix for podium finishes, with their home Perth crowd cheering them on. Barbagallo Raceway has just undergone a multi-million dollar redevelopment. New garage facilities and a new paddock area have been completed just in time for this weekend.

oric has been involved in V8 Racing since 2004. Doric moved into Motor Racing as a way of building relationships with their clients, and entertaining their guests in an exciting, fast paced environment, with money can’t buy experiences. Rupprecht Motorsports was Doric’s first partner in V8 Supercar Racing, a partnership that lasted four rounds in the 2004 season. 2005 Doric forged a partnership with PCR & Team Principal Paul Cruickshank, a relationship that lasted a total of six seasons. 2005 was Doric’s first year with PCR which was also in the V8 Development Series. Phil Scifleet drove for PCR and had a successful season, finishing 6th in the championship, recording five wins along the way. 2006 saw Doric and PCR moved up to the main V8 championship series. Doric moved from title sponsor to associate sponsor, taking up a spot on the front spoiler and also the rear of the car, the same sponsorship space that was used for several seasons. Doric continued to sponsor PCR in 2009 in its new identity of Wilson Security Racing. A Doric sponsored car graced the podium for the first time in the hands of Fabian Coulthard at the Symmons Plains Raceway round that year. The 2010 Doric Racing program incorporated Tim Slade in the #47 Wilson Security Racing V8 Supercar, #18 John Bowe in the Touring Car Masters Series, #99 James Moffat in the V8 Development Series, as well #27 Jamie Stauffer and #33 Jordan Burgess riding Doric Ducati’s in the Australian Superbike Championship. 2011 saw the Doric Racing program move its support behind leading title chance, Ford Performance Racing, with their drivers Will Davison and Mark Winterbottom. James Moffat stepped up to the main V8 Championship with reigning champions Dick Johnson Racing, while Wayne Maxwell joined Jamie Stauffer at Team Motologic, with the outfit moving to Hondas in the Australian Superbike championship. John Bowe will again be flew the Doric flag, with his awesome Mustang in the Touring Car Masters Series. For 2012, the Doric Racing family remained unchanged.

Behind the Scenes at Doric Honda Racing
H
onda Motologic team ‘s principal Paul Free had a distinguished career in the saddle, but his efforts as a team manager have been nothing short of remarkable. In 2002, he took on the challenge of building a new factory team for Honda and has achieved nothing short of astounding results. With two Supersport and Superbike championships and two manufacturer’s cups in a row under his belt in 2004 and 2005 for Honda Australia, Free had proven to the paddock his engineering prowess. At the end of 2007, Paul started Team Motologic, winning the 2008 Australian Superbike Championship with Glenn Allerton aboard the Honda CBR1000RR. After finishing second and third in the 2009 season standings, Motologic took on a new challenge, bringing Ducati back to the championship for the first time in 10 years. In 2011 however, the decision was made to return to the Honda family and Team Honda Racing enters the 2011 Australian Superbike Championship with two of the best riders in the country and Team Principle, Paul Free has his sights squarely set on the number one plate. The CBR1000RR has been used extensively in the international racing scene since its inception in 2004. Chris Vermeulen and the Dutch Ten Kate team placed the bike fourth in the standings in its debut year in the World Superbike class. The following year, the bike and team secured runner-up honours. In 2007, the Hannspree Ten Kate team was able to secure the first World Superbike Championship with the CBR1000RR with Briton James Toseland. Also, Ryuichi Kiyonari was able to win back to back titles in the British Superbike Championship in 2006-07 using the CBR1000RR with the HM Plant Honda team. The vital stats of the Team Honda Racing machine are impressive; the inline four-cylinder 999cc machine produces 205hp. Weighing in at only 169kg, the Honda has one of the highest power to weight ratios of any machine on the planet. The standard road bike actually weighs in 2kg lighter than its thoroughbred racing cousin, but its down on power, with only 175hp on tap. The race bike however features a Motec Engine Management systm, specialised suspension, fairings, sprockets, chain, exhaust, racing slicks, and braking components.
