WILL DAVISON & EREBUS MOTORSPORT ARE MOVING UP THE LEADERBOARD IN 2014 >>

Doric Ambassador Will Davison is going full steam ahead in the 2014 V8 Supercar Championship, continuing his strong run of form at the last round in New Zealand and climbing into the top ten standings. Yet another strong performance, inbcluding two top ten finishes, at Pukekohe last month with Erebus Motorsport, is further evidence that Davison is well on his way to success at his new team. Focusing on making the most of every opportunity on track, Davison is confident his team will soon be a force to be reckoned with. “Developing a car isn’t easy. I never expected it to be easy and in my short time at Erebus, I’ve learned it’s a lot of trial and error. So when everything clicks into place and you can give it a red hot go, gee it feels good!” “That’s what happened on Sunday at Pukekohe. We really maximised the car in every way we could. We had the perfect mix of speed and consistency and ended up finishing 7th in that final race. It was just really rewarding, to be honest. “We’re pushing every minute of every day to make our cars faster and stronger and more consistent. And I know from races like that one on Sunday that we’re edging closer and closer.”

Mark Winterbottom has been a standout this year. More podium finishes than anyone else on the grid and with just two results outside the top ten, it’s little wonder the Ford Performance racer is leading the championship. Frosty took the lead in the series at the last round at Pukekohe, New Zealand, with a truly dominant performance. Not only did Winterbottom steal the lead in the points, but carved an impressive gap over the next best placed driver. Collecting his third race win for the season at Pukekohe, Winterbottom also netted the perpetual Jason Richards Trophy and a record-breaking 52nd win for the FG Falcon. “to see the massive crowd supporting us all weekend and to claim two wins and the points lead is all we could’ve asked for. We are all very proud of what we’ve achieved and will use this momentum to drive us all to perform at the highest level” “There is a long way to go in the year but I am happiest leading the points so we plan to stay where we are.” Things are looking good for Winterbottom as the V8 Supercars head into Perth this weekend. The 32-yearold’s 2014 finishing average is an impressive two places higher than the next best driver and last year’s Perth event proved a solid outing for Winterbottom, taking two podium finishes across the weekend.

It’s all coming up for Chaz Mostert. The young gun had big shoes to fill this year, stepping into the factory Ford team to drive alongside Mark Winterbottom at Ford Performance Racing. And after a rocky start to the season, it looks like he’s really hitting his straps. The 22-year-old had a breakthrough round with his new team at Pukekohe last month, scoring two podium finishes. The stellar results propelled the young star to up to 15th in the Championship. Mostert says the success at New Zealand has come as a relief for himself and the team. “It is fantastic to be on the podium with a guy like Frosty and Scott McLaughlin who I’ve been battling

with in the junior ranks for many years,” he said following Sunday’s race at Pukekohe. “I am not looking at our points but we’ve had a great weekend and I am relieved to have some results which show the potential of what we can do. I’ve doubled my podium tally this weekend so it’s been great.” Last year’s Perth round marked Mostert’s debut in the V8 Supercar Championship. Mostert proved he was ready for the challenge, picking up a top ten finish with Dick Johnson Racing at the Barbagallo circuit. He will no doubt be looking to recreate that feeling with another strong performance this weekend.

12 >> Doric Racer >> Clipsal 500 2014 Australian Touring Car legend John Bowe is back to his old tricks. In the two rounds of the Touring Car Masters series this year, Bowe has accrued two pole positions, five podium places, one race win, as well as two lap records. Piloting his 1969 Ford Mustang, Nicknamed ‘Mustang Sally’, Bowe has moved early to stamp his authority on the 2014 championship and reignited the long-standing rivalry with fellow TCM front-runner Jim Richards. At the last round at Winton Motor Raceway in Victoria, the Doric Ambassador put on a dominant performance early on, breaking his own lap record by half a second, before collecting his first race win for the season over

two seconds clear of his closest rival. He set the fastest lap in all three races at Winton and tied for the round win. Unfortunately it’s a long wait for Bowe and his followers until the next round of the series, scheduled for 20-22 June at Darwin’s Hidden Valley circuit. Last year’s round at the Top End was a good one for Bowe, who took a clean sweep of all three races at the track. “We’ve had a great start to the year and I can’t wait to get to Darwin to keep the momentum going.” “We were very fast there last year, so hopefully we can have some more success!”

2008 marked the fourth year of Doric’s backing of Paul Cruickshank Racing (PCR). The team had inked a deal with John Bowe that would see the touring car legend spend his final year in V8 Supercars with PCR in 2007. So there were big shoes to fill the following year. Enter rising star Fabian Coulthard. The team acquired Craig Lowndes’ 888 car from the previous season and along with the Kiwi hotshot, established themselves as the number one privateer team on the V8 Supercar grid. Coulthard proved immediately he was ready to mix it with some serious contenders, finishing consistently in the top half of the field. Scoring 14 top ten finishes throughout the season, Coulthard and PCR ended the season in 13th place in the Championship. It was the most successful season PCR had put together in the main game. As one of only a handful of single car teams left in pitlane at the time, PCR continued to punch above its weight, with the highlight a fifth overall for the New Zealand round. Another highlight was the team’s efforts at the Bathurst 1000. After qualifying an impressive ninth place, the team looked set to take sixth place in the race before Coulthard was forced to pit for fuel on the final lap, dropping the #111 entry to 10th. Nonetheless the result was a best for the team at Mount Panorama.

Things are certainly looking up for the Doric racers. With three wins, nine podiums and 23 top ten finishes between them, Mark Winterbottom, Chaz Mostert and Will Davison will be strolling into the next round with confidence. All three racers are coming off the back of a solid outing at New Zealand. But now, over 5000km away from the scene of the last event at Pukekohe, on the far west coast of Australia, they will need to have their wits about them. 2014 has already proved to be one of the most competitive fields in recent history with the grid often separated by tiny margins and eight different drivers taking race wins so far this year. Reigning champions Triple Eight Racing will be eager to make a triumphant return to the winner’s circle, while Kiwi racers Scott McLaughlin, Shane Van Gisbergen and Fabian Coulthard are all on form for success at Perth this weekend. The tricky Barbagallo circuit has proven fruitful for Doric racers in the past, with Will Davison and Mark Winterbottom having won six races at the Western Australian track over the last four years. But the tight 2.42km race track is not an easy one master, with a tricky surface and wind-swept sand causing havoc, while passing opportunities are hard to come by.

Records were smashed and title hopes dashed at the fourth round of the 2013 V8 Supercar Championship at Barbagallo Raceway, Perth. Off the back of a strong round at New Zealand, Doric racer Will Davison was leading the standings heading into the Perth event. However rivals Triple Eight Racing bounced back with a clean sweep of the round and reigning champion Jamie Whincup taking back the championship lead. The title fight was hotting up, but it was Craig Lowndes who stole the spotlight, breaking the all-time win record with his 91st career victory. Davison’s title hopes took a big hit with a puncture in the first race relegating him to 14th place. But he fought back in the next two races

to take a fourth and fifth. Davison’s Ford Performance Racing teammate Mark Winterbottom played it cool with two podium finishes in the first two races, showing off his Falcon’s superb tyre life. But disaster struck in the final race, as Winterbottom dropped as low as 21st thanks to a bungled pit stop. He recovered with a storming drive to 12th place. The Perth round also marked the V8 Supercar Championship debut for Chaz Mostert, who last year raced for Dick Johnson Racing. The young gun ran in the top half of the field all weekend and impressed with a top ten finish on Sunday’s race.
