Property Development in 2010 The success of Tamarina Golf Resort & Beach Club, the first Mauritian Integrated Resort Scheme (IRS) completed in 2008, has prompted Medine Property to kickstart it’s second IRS project called Akasha. Nestled on some 60 acres of prime land on the edge of the Rempart River near Tamarin, 60 villas will be built and furnished to take advantage of the unique beauty of the surroundings. The architectural style, elaborated by Taktik Achitects is resolutely modern as compared to the one adopted for Tamarina. Acquisition of property by foreigners Both schemes allow foreigners to purchase property either in their own names or through an entity. However, whether your real estate is used for shelter or investment, the important consideration is to make use of proper asset protecting ownership structures. Because real property has become increasingly more valuable, the question of how parties take ownership of their property has gained greater importance. The form of ownership taken - the vesting of title - will determine who may sign various documents involving the property and future rights of the parties to the transaction.
