Il museo, ampliato grazie ad un intervento di restauro che ne valorizza pienamente il carattere monografico e ne tutela il valore d'inestimabile “unità culturale”, unico museo futurista costruito in Italia, riapre dopo un decennio per svolgere nuovamente la sua funzione espositiva e didattica. Il progetto di ristrutturazione è stato gestito dal Comune di Rovereto e curato dal Mart e dall'architetto Renato Rizzi. L'ordinamento museografico, a cura di Gabriella Belli, ha voluto recuperare la vitalità e l'ottimismo tipici della personalità di Depero, e ritrovare soprattutto la memoria di un luogo perduto: il laboratorio della sua Casa d'Arte. Nel nuovo museo si possono finalmente ammirare le tarsie in panno, i mobili, le suppellettili in “buxus”, i giocattoli e i prodotti d'arte applicata. A queste opere fanno da corollario alcuni momenti significativi della visione dell'artista, dai Balli plastici al periodo newyorkese tra il 1928 e il 1929, fino alla fortunata produzione pubblicitaria ed editoriale. Il museo è stato inoltre dotato di nuovi impianti e servizi al pubblico come il book shop, il guardaroba e la caffetteria.

The museum, enlarged in the wake of a restoration campaign that makes best use of its monographic character and safeguards its value of “cultural unity”, is the only futurist museum to have been built in Italy, and it now opens after ten years of work for exhibitions and didactic programmes. The refurbishmen project was managed by the Rovereto Municipality and supervised by Mart and the project architect, Renato Rizzi. The museum layout, curated by Gabriella Belli, has sought to recover the vitality and optimism typical of Depero’s character, and above all to restore the memory of a lost place: the workshop in his futurist Casa d'Arte. In the new museum, it is finally possible to admire the cloth inlays, the furniture and “buxus” furnishings, together with toys and applied arts products. These works serve to illustrate some significant moments in the artist's vision, from the Balli plastici to his New York period between 1928 and 1929 and up to his successful advertising and publishing production. The museum has also been provided with new plant and services for the public, such as a bookshop, a cloakroom and a cafeteria.

A cento anni dalla pubblicazione del manifesto del futurismo, rimane intatta la forza d'innovazione dell'importante movimento artistico promosso da Filippo Tommaso Marinetti nel 1909. Il Mart celebra il centenario della maggiore avanguardia italiana rileggendola con un nuovo sguardo, che ne ricostruisce la composita trama nel contesto storico del primo Novecento. Un percorso scientifico

che si inaugura con la mostra al Mart, prosegue con Astrazioni ai Musei Civici di Venezia (5 giugno - 4 ottobre) e si conclude con l’esposizione Simultaneità (15 ottobre - 25 gennaio 2010) a Palazzo Reale di Milano. Il progetto mette in risalto l'articolato intreccio di nuove visioni, di tecniche e linguaggi rivoluzionari che percorrono due decenni. Una rivoluzione che ha attraversato i confini geografici: la mostra del Mart, in particolare, propone un percorso pressoché inedito, che chiarisce come il futurismo italiano abbia incontrato e influenzato le avanguardie artistiche tedesche e russe. Temi e contenuti sviluppati dai futuristi sono illustrati attraverso il confronto con le opere di Vasilij Kandinskij, Franz Marc, August Macke, Paul Klee, partecipi delle esposizioni alla galleria “Der Sturm” di Herwarth Walden, mentre le ripercussioni polemiche che il movimento italiano ebbe in Germania tra il 1912 e il 1913 vengono testimoniate dalle opere di Marc Chagall e Ernst Kirchner, o dai dipinti giovanili di Max Ernst e Kurt Schwitters. Sono poi esplorate le ragioni del viaggio di Marinetti in Russia nel 1914: fecondi di scambi e di idee, questi incontri vengono letti in relazione con le straordinarie composizioni degli artisti russi di quel periodo, dall’universo arcaico orientale di Kandinskij alla purezza della visione di Kasimir Malevich, alla dirompente energia delle costruzioni di Natalia Goncharova, di Alexandra Exter o di Mikhail Larionov.

One hundred years after the publication of the futurist manifesto, the innovative force of the highly important art movement launched by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti in 1909 has lost none of its power. The Mart celebrates the centenary of Italy's leading avant-garde movement by taking a fresh look at it, reconstructing its development within the historical context of the early 20th century. Abstractions at the Musei Civici di Venezia (5 June - 4 October) and concludes with Simultaneities (15 October - 25 January 2010) at Palazzo Reale, Milan. the project will highlight the complex blend of new visions, techniques and revolutionary languages pervading two decades. A revolution that went beyond geographic borders: the Mart exhibition in particular will offer what is effectively a new viewpoint, clarifying how Italian futurism encountered and influenced the German and Russian avant-garde art movements. The themes and contents developed by the Futurists will be illustrated through a comparison with works by Vasilij Kandinskij, Franz Marc, August Macke, Paul Klee, who participated in the exhibitions at Herwarth Walden's “Der Sturm� gallery, while the controversial repercussions the Italian movement had in Germany between 1912 and 1913 will be evidenced in works by Marc Chagall and Ernst Kirchner, and by the youthful paintings of Max Ernst and Kurt Schwitters. Also explored, will be the reasons for Marinetti's journey to Russia in 1914; fruitful in exchanges and ideas, these encounters will be seen in relation to the extraordinary compositions of Russian artists of that period, from the archaic Oriental universe of Kandinskij to the purity of vision of Kasimir Malevich, and the powerful energy of the works of Natalia Goncharova, Alexandra Exter and Mikhail Larionov.

La “guerra fredda”, la cortina di ferro, le tensioni tra la “alleanza atlantica” e i paesi del blocco sovietico, oggi sembrano episodi lontani, ma in realtà hanno accompagnato la storia del ’900, dal dopoguerra agli anni Settanta, e soprattutto hanno ispirato e animato le manifestazioni della creazione artistica.
La grande mostra Cold War, prodotta dal Victoria and Albert Museum di Londra in collaborazione con il Mart, è la prima importante esposizione che ricostruisce il clima di un periodo cruciale per la società, la politica e la cultura mondiale, attraverso lo sguardo delle arti, dal design all'architettura, dal cinema alla pittura. Esposti oltre 250 oggetti, tra cui un'importante selezione di opere provenienti dalla collezione permanente del Mart: dallo Sputnik alla tuta da austronauta delle missioni “Apollo”, dai film di Stanley Kubrick ai dipinti di Robert Rauschenberg, alle ceramiche di Pablo Picasso ai vestiti di Paco Rabanne. La mostra presenta oggetti affascinanti come i mobili in fibra di vetro di Charles e Ray Eames, o il radioricevitore T1000 della Braun, disegnato da Dieter Rams. Si potranno inoltre ammirare i bozzetti architettonici di Le Corbusier, di Richard Buckminster Fuller e di Archigram, e le nuove forme di trasporto del dopoguerra, come la P70 Coupé (un precursore della Trabant di plastica), la micro-auto Kabinenroller della Messerschmitt e la Vespa.

The “cold war”, the iron curtain, the tensions between the “Atlantic alliance” and the countries within the Soviet bloc today seem like episodes from long ago, but in reality they were a major part of 20th-century history, from the post-war years to the 1970s and, above all, they inspired and animated manifestations of artistic creation. The major Cold War exhibition, produced by Victoria & Albert Museum of London, in collaboration with Mart, represents the first important exhibition to reconstruct the climate of a crucial period for society, politics and culture worldwide through art, design, architecture, cinema and the visual arts. The exhibition presents over 250 objects, including an important selection of works from Mart's permanent collections: from a Sputnik to the space-suit of an astronaut from an “Apollo” mission, from the films of Stanley Kubrick to the paintings of Robert Rauschenberg, and from the ceramics of Pablo Picasso to clothes designed by Paco Rabanne. There will also be such fascinating articles as the fibreglass furniture of Charles and Ray Eames and the T1000 radio manufactured by Braun and designed by Dieter Rams. It will also be possible to admire the architectural sketches of Le Corbusier, Richard Buckminster Fuller and Archigram, and the new forms of post-war transport, such as the P70 Coupé (a precursor of the plastic Trabant), the tiny Kabinenroller by Messerschmitt and the Vespa moped.

Con la mostra Italia Contemporanea. Officina San Lorenzo, il Mart approfondisce il lavoro di quel gruppo di artisti che, alla fine degli anni Settanta, lavoravano negli spazi dismessi dell'ex pastificio Cerere, nel cuore del quartiere San Lorenzo a Roma. Attraverso le opere di Bruno Ceccobelli, Gianni Dessì, Giuseppe Gallo, Nunzio, Pizzi Cannella e Marco Tirelli, è così ripercorsa una vicenda che ha avuto il suo apice tra gli anni Ottanta e i primi anni Novanta e che rappresenta un importante contributo al rinnovamento della pittura e della scultura in Italia. Accanto alle opere storiche l’esposizione presenta anche un’ampia sezione dedicata ai lavori più recenti.
With the Contemporary Italy. Officina San Lorenzo exhibition, Mart explores the work of that group of artists that at the end of the 1970s, worked in the disused spaces of the former Cerere pasta factory in the heart of the San Lorenzo district in Rome. Through works by Bruno Ceccobelli, Gianni Dessì, Giuseppe Gallo, Nunzio, Pizzi Cannella and Marco Tirelli, the exhibition examines a movement that had its peak between the 1980s and early 1990s, and which represented a major contribution to the renewal of painting and sculpture in Italy. Alongside the historic works, the exhibition will also be presenting a wide-ranging section dedicated to more recent works.

Il mito della Grande Mela, immortalato nelle immagini colte da grandi fotografi, è qui ripercorso attraverso episodi e volti famosi della grande metropoli, ma anche con quei luoghi che per tutto il '900 hanno rappresentato i sogni e le speranze della modernità.
An extraordinary series of 140 original photographs from MoMA's permanent collections will constitute the summer exhibition for Mart's public. The precious and rare photograph material, presented for the first time in Italy in a wide-ranging show, offers a truly fresh and fascinating view of New York. The myth of the Big Apple, immortalised in the images captured by great photographers is here presented via famous episodes and faces of the great metropolis, but also through those places that for the whole of the 20th century represented the dreams and hopes of modernity.

Il Mart ospita nell'autunno 2009 una selezione di capolavori provenienti dal Kunstmuseum di Winterthur, un'occasione unica per poter ammirare grandi capolavori dell'arte europea della prima metà del XX secolo, dall’impressionismo al cubismo, fino al surrealismo e alle ricerche astratte. La collezione, nata da una sapiente campagna acquisti avviata alla fine dell'Ottocento dalla Società di Belle Arti di Winterthur, si è concentrata fin dall'inizio su capolavori impressionisti di Degas, Sisley, Pissarro, Monet e postimpressionisti. La raccolta presenta poi un importante nucleo di opere dedicato ai pittori Nabis, da Maurice Denis a Vuillard e Bonnard, mentre il simbolismo è rappresentato dai capolavori dei maestri di origine svizzera Félix Vallotton e Ferdinand Hodler. Di grande impatto sono le opere degli artisti delle avanguardie storiche, da Delaunay a Braque, da Picasso a Léger, fino alle ricerche astratte di Kandinskij, Jawelensky, Klee, Mondrian. Il realismo magico e il surrealismo sono documentati da opere di Magritte, Ernst e Tanguy, così come la nascita dell'informale è rappresentata da artisti come Nicolas de Staël e Asger Jorn, fino ad arrivare alla contemporaneità con una serie selezionatissima di capolavori dell'arte americana più recente, con opere di Robert Mangold, Ellsworth Kelly, Brice Marden.

Masterpieces of modernity Works from the collection of the Kunstmuseum of Winterthur Curator Dieter Schwarz and Christoph Vitali
In autumn 2009, Mart will be hosting a selection of masterpieces from the Kunstmuseum of Winterthur, thus providing a unique opportunity to admire great masterpieces of European art from the first half of the 20th century, from impressionism and cubism to surrealism and abstract art. The collection, based around a far-sighted campaign of acquisitions launched at the end of the 19th century by the Winterthur Fine Arts Society, concentrated on impressionist masterpieces by Degas, Sisley, Pissarro and Monet and on post-impressionist art. It also includes an important group of Nabis artists, from Maurice Denis to Vuillard and Bonnard, while symbolism is represented by masterpieces of Swiss origin, such as Félix Vallotton and Ferdinand Hodler. The works by artists of the historic avant-gardes are extremely striking, with artists like Delaunay, Braque, Picasso and Léger represented, together with the later abstract works of Kandinskij,
Jawelensky, Klee and Mondrian.The magic realism and surrealism are documented with works by Magritte, Ernst and Tanguy, and the birth of the informal period with artists like Nicolas de Staël and Asger Jorn. Contemporary art is also represented with a highly selective series of exceptional examples of more recent American art, with works by Robert Mangold, Ellsworth Kelly and Brice Marden.

La mostra Irrespektiv, dedicata all'artista sudafricano Kendell Geers, si inserisce in un progetto più ampio in cui sono coinvolti il Mart e altri prestigiosi musei europei. Il titolo gioca in modo ironico con il termine “retrospettiva” ed esprime lo spirito provocatorio dell'esposizione, condotta all'insegna di un forte impegno sociale e politico. Con i suoi lavori, infatti, Kendell Geers rivendica la necessità di “prendere posizione rispetto al mondo in cui si vive” e con le sue opere esplora i confini politici, sociali e psicologici dell'uomo contemporaneo.
The Irrespektiv exhibition, dedicated to the South African artist, Kendell Geers, forms part of a broader project in which are involved Mart and other prestigious European museums. The title plays ironically with the term “retrospective” and expresses the provocative spirit of the exhibition, marked by strong social and political commitment. With his work, Kendell Geers presents the need to “adopt a stance with regard to the world in which one lives”, and with his works explores the geographical, political, social, sexual and psychological limits and borders of contemporary man.

Si intitolano Moderna 1900-1950 e Contemporanea 1950-2000 i nuovi allestimenti della collezione permanente del Mart 2009, che occupano sia i grandi spazi del 2° piano, ma anche quelli del 1°piano. Un'esposizione che vuole percorrere tutto il Novecento, con opere di altissima qualità di artisti italiani e stranieri, riletti in un contesto storico-critico di nuovi accostamenti e giustapposizioni, tali da offrire al pubblico una visione per nulla scontata dell'arte italiana e delle sue relazioni con alcuni tra i più interessanti protagonisti dell'arte internazionale del XX secolo. Il percorso si dividerà idealmente in due grandi capitoli, il primo dedicato all'arte delle avanguardie storiche, con opere di artisti come Boccioni, Severini, Balla, Carrà, de Chirico, Savinio, Campigli, Sironi, Casorati e il secondo alle ricerche più contemporanee, dall’America all’Europa in un percorso di nuove proposte.

The new layouts of the permanent collection of Mart for 2009 are called Modern 1900-1950 and Contemporary 1950-2000, and occupy both the large spaces on the 2nd floor and also those on the 1st floor. The exhibition aims to survey the whole of the 20th century, with works of the highest quality by Italian and foreign artists, studied in a historical and critical context of new links and juxtapositions, to offer the public a fresh vision of Italian art and of its links with some of the most interesting protagonists of 20th-century international art. The exhibition will be divided into two virtual chapters, the first dedicated to the
historic avant-garde movements, including works by Boccioni, Severini, Balla, Carrà, de Chirico, Savinio, Campigli, Sironi and Casorati, and the second to more contemporary research, from America to Europe in an itinerary of new proposals.

L'appuntamento con la giornata dedicata in tutta Italia all'arte contemporanea, promossa dai 25 Musei dell'Amaci (Associazione Musei d'Arte Contemporanea Italiani) e sostenuta dal Ministero per i Beni Culturali, avrà come testimonial l'artista italiano Luigi Ontani. Come nelle passate edizioni, nel 2009 presso il Mart si potrà usufruire non solo dell'ingresso gratuito ma anche di una serie di eventi organizzati per far riflettere i giovani, e più in generale il pubblico del Museo, sul valore e il significato nella società attuale dell'arte contemporanea.
The appointment with the day dedicated to contemporary art throughout Italy, promoted by 25 museums belonging to Amaci (Associazione Musei d'Arte Contemporanea Italiani) and supported by the Ministry for Cultural Affairs, will have an Italian artist, Luigi Ontani, as its testimonial. As in past editions, in 2009 Mart will not only be offering free entry but also a series of events to make the young, and the museum's public generally, think about the value and significance of contemporary art in society today.

As has been the custom since 1999, December of 2009 in the art galleries of the Trentino will again present a selection of artists in the spaces of the mezzanine. It will provide an opportunity for a close and productive dialogue with local operators, with the aim of highlighting the continued growth and significance of the Trentino’s art scene.

Nel corso del 2009, la sede trentina del Mart presenta alcuni progetti volti alla valorizzazione delle collezioni permanenti dell’Ottocento, attraverso l'esposizione di opere appartenenti alle Raccolte d'arte del XIX secolo. Fra questi, la mostra Maestri trentini tra ’800 e ’900 il cui percorso espositivo intende suggerire le principali tappe storiografiche della pittura trentina nell’Ottocento. La mostra si apre con il dipinto commissionato dal conte trentino Girolamo Malfatti al grande maestro dell’Ottocento italiano, Francesco Hayez, allora direttore dell'Accademia di Brera, e attraversa le esperienze dei pittori Giustiniano degli Avancini e Domenico Udine che orientarono le loro scelte stilistiche verso la pittura accademica di storia, o la ritrattistica borghese. Non mancano nel percorso della mostra le sezioni dedicate ai grandi protagonisti trentini della seconda metà dell’Ottocento,
Eugenio Prati, Bartolomeo Bezzi, Andrea Malfatti e Giovanni Segantini, che furono i maestri a cui si riferì tutta la generazione seguente, anche se mediando il loro insegnamento con quella modernità appresa nelle capitali della secessione, Monaco e Vienna. Le sale del primo piano ospitano dunque i lavori di Luigi Bonazza, Luigi Ratini, Benvenuto Disertori, Dario Wolf, la cui inclinazione simbolista si confronta con le opere di Bistolfi e Alois Delug. Il percorso espositivo include anche esempi di pittura della Scuola di Ca'Pesaro, forse l'ultima secessione europea prima della grande Guerra, rappresentata da un ampio nucleo di opere del trentino Umberto Moggioli, affiancate dai dipinti di Gino Rossi, e di Tullio Garbari, per concludersi con un nucleo di dipinti di Gino Pancheri.

Over the course of 2009, Mart's Trento site will be presenting a series of projects highlighting the permanent 19th-century collections through the exhibition of works from the 19thcentury holdings. One of these will be the Trentino masters between the 19th and 20th century exhibition, which aims to present the main historical developments in 19th-century painting in the Trentino. The exhibition opens with the painting commissioned by the local conte Girolamo Malfatti from the leading master of 19th century Italian art, Francesco Hayez, then director of the Accademia di Brera, and with pictures by Giustiniano degli Avancini and Domenico Udine, who produced academic history paintings and bourgeois portraits. The exhibition will also include sections dedicated to leading exponents of Trentino art of the late 19th century, such as Eugenio Prati, Bartolomeo Bezzi, Andrea Malfatti and Giovanni Segantini, to whom all of the following generation referred, although blending their teaching with the modernity acquired in the capitals of Secession art, Munich and Vienna. The rooms on the first floor will present works by Luigi Bonazza, Luigi Ratini, Benvenuto Disertori and Dario Wolf, whose inclination towards symbolism contrasts with the works of Bistolfi and Alois Delug. The exhibition also includes examples of painting from the Ca' Pesaro school, which was perhaps the last European Secession before the out-
break of the Great War, represented by a wide range of works by Umberto Moggioli, Gino Rossi and Tullio Garbari, all from the Trentino. It concludes with a group of paintings by Gino Pancheri.

La rassegna intende rendere omaggio al più importante pittore paesaggista trentino, Bartolomeo Bezzi, attraverso l'esposizione delle sue opere più significative, quei capolavori che lo resero famoso a livello europeo e non solo, oggi conservati nelle grandi raccolte d'arte dell'Ottocento. Fra questi possiamo citare per tutti il celebre All'abbeveratoio conservato presso la Neue Pinakothek di Monaco di Baviera. La mostra indagherà le principali tappe del suo percorso artistico dalle opere più veriste legate alla rappresentazione della vita di tutti i giorni, come il celeberrimo Giorno di Magro ma già attente al valore espressivo della luce fino alla pura rappresentazione del paesaggio come pretesto iconografico per una più moderna pittura di stati d'animo, cercando di coglierne sia gli aspetti peculiari sia i contatti e le relazioni con la coeva pittura di paesaggio. Bezzi, oltre che importante pittore, rivestì un ruolo determinante nell'ambito del cosiddetto sistema dell'arte, fu mentore per il giovane Moggioli e con Selvatico, sindaco di Venezia dal 1890 al 1895, e Fradeletto fu fra i fondatori dell' Esposizione Internazionale d'Arte della città di Venezia.
The exhibition aims to pay homage to the most important landscape painter of the Trentino, Bartolomeo Bezzi (1851-1923), through the presentation of his most significant works, those masterpieces that made him famous in Europe and elsewhere. Today, his pictures are preserved in leading collections of 19thcentury art. Among his most famous works is All'abbeveratoio, today at the Neue Pinakothek, Munich. The exhibition will explore the main steps in his artistic career, from his most true-to-life works, associated with depicting everyday life, such as the famous Giorno di Magro, which already responded to the expressive value of light, up to his pure depictions of landscape as an iconographic pretext for a more modern painting of mood, seeking to capture both its specific aspects and its contacts and links with contemporary landscape painting. Bezzi was not merely an important painter: he also had a fundamental role in the so-called art system as mentor for the young Moggioli. Moreover, with Selvatico, mayor of Venice from 1890 to 1895, and Fradeletto, he was one of the founders of the International Art Exhibition of the city of Venice.

La mostra Morandi: maestro della natura morta moderna, prodotta dal Mart in collaborazione con la Phillips Collection di Washington presenta, nella prestigiosa sede americana, una cinquantina di dipinti provenienti dalle collezioni del Museo insieme ad una accurata selezione di opere appartenenti a collezioni private italiane.
Giorgio Morandi (1890-1964), one of the great protagonists of 20th-century art, has left works that fascinate us for their surprising simplicity. The Morandi: master of modern still life exhibition, produced by Mart in collaboration with The Phillips Collection of Washington, presents, at the prestigious american museum, about 50 works from Mart collections, together with a selected series of works from private Italian collections.

La mostra che il Mart presenta a Buenos Aires ripercorre i momenti salienti dell'attività dell'artista dal 1915 al 1950, momenti caratterizzati soprattutto dall'adesione al futurismo, che sfocerà nella pubblicazione del manifesto Ricostruzione Futurista dell'Universo firmato dall'artista nel 1915 con Giacomo Balla. E' per Depero e i futuristi il sogno di un'opera d'arte totale, che caratterizzerà tutto il suo lavoro, dalla pittura alla scultura, dalla grafica al design. Le sue prime opere, i complessi plastici, sono realizzati con materiali poveri (fili metallici, vetri, cartoni, carte veline) e capaci di movimenti meccanici. Nel 1916 Depero realizza le scenografie e i costumi per il balletto Chant du rossignol e nel 1918 costruisce le marionette di legno colorate per i Balli plastici. Nel 1919, a Rovereto, dà vita a un suo grande sogno: aprire una casa d'arte futurista specializzata nel settore della grafica pubblicitaria, dell'arredo e delle arti applicate e, in particolare, in quello degli arazzi in panno.
Nel 1928 si trasferisce a New York dove resterà fino all'ottobre del 1930. Qui apre la Depero's Futurist House. Negli anni Cinquanta, infine, l'artista progetta e realizza, grazie alla collaborazione del Comune di Rovereto, il primo museo futurista d'Italia, una curiosa e intelligente consacrazione della sua opera.

The exhibition that Mart is presenting in Buenos Aires examines the most important moments in the artist's activity between 1915 and 1950, moments characterised above all by his adherence to futurism, which would lead to the publication of the Ricostruzione Futurista dell'Universo (Futurist reconstruction of the universe) manifesto of 1915 with Giacomo Balla. For Depero and the other futurists, this set out the dream of a total work of art, and this would mark all of his work, from painting to sculpture, graphic arts to design. His early works, the sculptural groups, were made using everyday materials (metal wire, glass, card, tracing paper) and could move mechanically. In 1916, Depero produced the sets and costumes for a ballet, Chant du rossignol, and in 1918 made the coloured wooden puppets for the Balli plastici. In 1919 at Rovereto, he realised a great dream: to opening a futurist art house specialising in advertising graphics, furnishings and applied arts and, in particular, cloth tapestries. In 1928, he moved to New York, where he remained until October of 1930. Here he opened the Depero's Futurist House. In the 1950s, the artist designed and realised the first futurist museum in Italy, thanks to the collaboration of the Rovereto Municipality, which would be a curious and intelligent monument to his work.

Con il manifesto Ricostruzione Futurista dell'Universo, pubblicato da Giacomo Balla e Fortunato Depero nel marzo 1915, l'estetica futurista entra con prepotenza nella dimensione del quotidiano e invade tutti gli aspetti della vita, ben oltre i confini della ricerca pittorica. Questo progetto d'appropriazione della vita, che troverà eco soprattutto nell'opera dei futuristi della seconda generazione, utilizzerà tutti i linguaggi dell'arte, dal design alla pubblicità, dalla moda alla cucina, fino all'architettura, per risolvere “futuristicamente” i quesiti del quotidiano. L'esposizione presenta una selezione molto accurata di opere capaci di rappresentare al meglio la complessità del progetto estetico futurista e permette la conoscenza della produzione meno indagata, ma non per questo minore rispetto alle più note esperienze pittoriche, di questa grande e importante avanguardia artistica europea.
Nella mostra si potranno ammirare le opere dei principali protagonisti della stagione del futurismo post-boccioniano, da Giacomo Balla a Gino Severini, da Ardengo Soffici a Fortunato Depero e Enrico Prampolini e ancora Tullio Crali e Ernesto Thayaht, artisti che in modo differente e personalissimo, hanno dato corpo e originalità alle proposte di radicale rinnovamento del mondo e di estensione illimitata del fare artistico, contenute nella maggior parte delle dichiarazioni poetiche del movimento, a partire dal primo e celebre manifesto del 1909.

With the Ricostruzione Futurista dell'Universo (Futurist Reconstruction of the Universe) manifesto published by Giacomo Balla and Fortunato Depero in March 1915, Futurist aesthetics roared into the everyday world and invaded every aspect of life, well beyond the borders of painterly research. This aim to appropriate life, which was taken on board especially by the second generation of futurist artists, made use of every language of art, from design to advertising, fashion to cooking, and also architecture, in order to resolve “futuristically� the problems of everyday life. The exhibition presents a carefully-made selection of works able to represent the complexity of the futurist aesthetic project, and makes it possible to learn about aspects of this major European avant-garde movement that are less well-known than the famous painted work but not less significant for that. In the exhibition, it is possible to admire the works of leading protagonists of the postBoccioni futurist season, from Giacomo Balla, Gino Severini and Ardengo Soffici to Fortunato Depero, Enrico Prampolini, Tullio Crali and Ernesto Thayaht. All these artists gave form and originality in various and personal ways to the radical renewal of the world and unlimited extension of creating art, contained in most of the movement's poetic declarations, starting with the first and most famous manifesto of 1909.

La mostra Sipario!, nata da un progetto di Guy Cogeval, intende approfondire i rapporti tra arte e teatro nel XIX secolo attraverso circa duecento opere tra dipinti, bozzetti, scene teatrali, provenienti da importanti collezioni pubbliche e private di tutto il mondo. Un'occasione unica per ammirare, per la prima volta a Rovereto, i capolavori dei più grandi pittori europei dell'Ottocento, lungo un percorso espositivo che metterà in luce come l'attenzione per la scena abbia caratterizzato fortemente il cammino della pittura verso la modernità. Artisti come Jacques-Louis David, Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, Paul Delaroche, Eugène Delacroix, Gustave Moreau, non solo hanno lavorato come costumisti o scenografi, ma hanno mostrato le tensioni proprie dell'universo teatrale, nella gestualità, nelle ambientazioni scenografiche e nella prospettiva illusionistica dei loro dipinti. La mostra analizzerà cronologicamente questo cammino, affascinante e complesso, che dall'epoca neoclassica, si sviluppa attraverso l'età romantica, rappresentata dai drammi storici “messi in scena” da Delaroche o Delacroix, per passare poi alla rivoluzione “realista” di Honoré Daumier e Edgar Degas, tra le figure centrali di questa importante esposizione. All'inizio del ’900, infine, il rapporto con la sperimentazione teatrale d'avanguardia porta i pittori Nabis e simbolisti alle soglie dell'astrazione.

Pittura Americana 1910- 1950 presenta, per la prima volta a livello internazionale, gli esiti più alti della produzione americana raccolti dal celebre collezionista Duncan Phillips e dalla sua famiglia per quasi un secolo. In mostra al Mart oltre 100 opere di 72 maestri dell'arte americana con capolavori di Edward Hopper, Winslow Homer, John Sloan, Arthur Dove, Georgia O'Keeffe, Stuart Davis, Adolph Gottlieb, Philip Guston, Jackson Pollock, Robert Motherwell, Clyfford Still.

The Curtain! exhibition, arising from a project by Guy Cogeval, aims to explore the relationship between art and theatre in the 19th century through about 200 works, comprising paintings, sketches, theatre sets, from leading public and private collections around the world. This is a unique opportunity to admire the masterpieces of the greatest 19th-century European artists in an exhibition stressing how the stage strongly influenced the development of painting towards modernity. Artists such as Jacques-Louis David, Jean-AugusteDominique Ingres, Paul Delaroche, Eugène Delacroix and Gustave Moreau, not only worked as costume or set designers, but also laid bare the tensions of the theatre world, in the gestures, scenographic settings and illusionist perspective in their pictures. The exhibition will analyse this fascinating and complex development chronologically, from the neoclassical era, through the Romantic period represented by the historic “mises en scène” of Delaroche and Delacroix, to the “realist” revolution of Honoré Daumier and Edgar Degas, who are among the central figures in this important exhibition. The exhibition ends with the early 20th century, and the relationship with experimental avant-garde theatre that leads the Nabis painters and symbolists to the threshold of abstraction.
