VISIONARY Martin Gondra Frediani ilman Fertitta, the World’s Richest Restaurateur, is a bright Houstonian, successful businessman, entrepreneur, and, now, star of the reality show Billion Dollar Buyer. His net worth positions him as one of the wealthiest Americans today, according to Forbes.
We had the unique opportunity to sit and visit with him. Considering he has just finished four months of filming for the second season of his popular TV show, he didn’t want to see anything resembling a camera, yet, he was gracious enough to spend some time with us -and our cameras-. Tilman Fertitta is not just the “Billion Dollar Buyer,” but he is also the genius mind behind one of the world’s fastest growing empires. The key to his consistent financial growth is rooted in positioning his business to be relatively unaffected by economic downturns. He believes when the economy is looking up, people often tend to forget that it doesn’t always last; and at the same time, when money matters are looking doubtful, people tend to forget they will eventually improve. He has always been a cyclical player, building or acquiring new real estate, even when the time doesn't seem to be the right one. During the 10-year real estate recession, from 1986 to 1996, he took advantage of the economic situation, purchasing prime properties for less. And this upcoming year will see the inauguration of ten new Saltgrass Steak House restaurants, three to four new Mastro's, and a 350-room tower expansion at the Golden Nugget in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Also, he recently purchased a Manhattan-based franchise, that will add 15 restaurants to the six he already owns in the area, making him the largest restaurant operator in Manhattan. He also owns 40 properties all over the world, from the Middle East, to Asia and the South Pacific. An influential business figure, Tilman has been frequently featured in the nation’s top financial and industry publications. He is a frequent guest of prominent national business programs on networks like CNBC and Fox Business News. The Post Oak will boast the biggest ballroom available in the Galleria area, and will offer a variety of luxury services such as: a Bentley and Rolls-Royce vehicle concierge, 24-hour room service, and a helipad with one of Tilman’s three helicopters on stand-by, just in case a guest is running late to the airport or an appointment. He anticipates The Post Oak to bring in even more tourism to the Houston area, and we are certain he's right. We were given a sneak peek at a surprise for the complex, which we were asked not to reveal in this article. Although we are dying to divulge, we know this one addition alone will make The Post Oak a sensational attraction for affluent locals and tourists alike. Tilman’s motto for business is to "understand that this is a changing world, and you need to stay on top for every new opportunity that arises. If you slow down, you will get run over, so you can't slow down.” His final note for us is some advice for new entrepreneurs: "Complete knowledge of the business is a must and should be there, not only on the sales side but on the financial, marketing and operational sides also. And let go of fear, and do not worry about failure."

eal Estate Entrepreneur, former model & TV host, listed on count less “women of the year” lists, Carmina Zamorano has been devot ed to helping out her Houston community and all over the world. A mother to three beautiful daughters and a natural beauty both inside and out, she needs no introduction as a humanitarian spokesperson.
Carmina Zamorano defines herself as a wife and a working mom. She is a woman in love with two passions: her family and her business. She thinks that accomplishments are not only achieved with talent, but through hard work and believing in others as much as yourself. She could sit back, relax, and reap the benefits of her growing business and fame, but she wouldn’t feel complete. She wants her family and friends to achieve greatness, as well. And although she struggled with the deception of her business partner a few years ago, she is grateful to reflect upon the past, and learn from her mistakes. She knows that selfishly working towards your own goals does not lead to true success. From early age Carmina wanted to be an architect. However, her father pushed her to follow a different path – law. So, she earned a master’s degree in corporate law and, also, an MBA in business. Carmina keeps a close circle of friends, the same four friends that have accompanied her throughout her whole life. She loves reading, relaxing, and staying home with her husband

and three young daughters. She also enjoys learning about international business, city development, and interior design. She appreciates cultivating and developing new projects, from the creation of the idea to looking for the perfect target market. She is re-energized every time she begins a new one. We asked Carmina how she manages her success. She told us, that, the key to being successful, in life and in work, is to remain grounded and understand there is always going to be someone bigger than you. In a world of sycophants, it is easy to get lost in the hustle. Carmina believes Houston is a land of tremendous opportunity, but what stands out the most is the loyalty of its people. When Houstonians open their doors and you deliver, that loyalty stays there forever. In other cities, the pool is filled with sharks, and the competition is fearless and brutal, but here, honesty prevails. This year of 2016 was a magnificent year for Carmina, receiving multiple nominations and awards to recognize her splendid labor in the Houston Community. She kicked started the year by attending the 2016 Be an Angel Donor Appreciation Luncheon, where this amazing foundation, gave thanks to those who

She is also an active member of Nicole’s Garden Foundation, attending several fundraising events to support this lovely and innovative cause. Carmina has been a big supporter of Houston Pet Set for many years, she attended numerous fundraising galas this year to support such a wonderful organization. Houston Pet Set provides grants to Houston-area animal nonprofits and which goal is to help those pets who need rescuing on a daily basis, as well as, neutering, fostering, adopting and protecting Houston’s homeless animal population.

In January, she was invited to join the Houston Intercontinental Chamber of Commerce as a Board Member (HICC) which she gladly accepted. Carmina’s entrepreneurial skills and business career provides excellent expertise in the Houston Business community. HICC members range from small entrepreneurs to Fortune 500 companies, which consist of thousands of employees. March 31st, she celebrated with family, co-workers, friends & supporters the Grand Opening of Carnan Properties Houston International, where attendees also included all the charities & organizations she has supported through the years that she has been in Houston. As previously mentioned, Carmina’s support goes beyond helping her Houston Community. In July, accompanied by her Husband Rafael Chavez, Carmina attended the Leonardo Di Caprio Foundation Gala in St. Tropez, dedicated to the longterm health and wellbeing of all Earth’s inhabitants. That night, $45 Million Euros were raised to help preserve our planet earth.
HOME DESIGN Early in September, Carmina received a Humanitarian Award at the Humanitarian Awards Luncheon from Latino Learning Center, recognizing her Philanthropic & humanitarian work which provides relief to the needs of the less fortunate population. She was also paid tribute by Hennesy during the month of September during the celebration of Latin Heritage, which purpose is recognizing the contributions of Hispanics, like Carmina, that have made an impact to the culture of the United States. In October, Carmina and her husband Rafael Chavez, were hosts to the Horses & Angels Gala at their ranch in Magnolia, Texas. This lovely fundraising gala was in support of Be an Angel foundation and Virtuosi of Houston. Both Carmina and her husband have been supporters of both charities for over 5 years. In the month of November, Houston Magazine named Carmina for second year in a row ‘Dynamic Woman of the Year’ recognizing her entrepreneurial impact in the Houston community, talents, philanthropy and successes. Over time, Carmina has become more involved in promoting humanitarian causes within her Houston community. There is still weeks left in this calendar year of 2016 and the month of December is one of the busiest months with fundraising events. She remains committed to attend such events during the holidays in order to support all those organizations she proudly believes in. Without a doubt, Carmina is invested in her Houston community on all and her influence has made a difference in everyone who gets to know her. Being the most influential Latina in Houston is a big responsibility. Carmina does not take it lightly, believing that her thoughts must be consistent with her actions. For Carmina, it is being a good person that matters the most to her success. Her marriage stands strong, but its stability was not achieved overnight. Rafael Chavez is not only her husband but her best friend, confidante, and business partner. Their worlds are independent but revolve around each other. They have both struggled to ensure that their family is the foundation of their business. Carmina confessed she would like to interview Donald Trump. Trump has built himself as a real estate mogul, and she is fascinated with his business savvy. She equally respects Hillary Clinton and would have liked her to be the president. However, she recognizes Trump is a great business man, although she greatly disapproves what Trump said regarding Mexicans.

The Legendary Art of
Fernando Botero arrives in Houston
Fernando Botero Angulo, born in 1932, is a figurative artist and sculptor from Medellín, Colombia. His signature style, also known as "Boterismo", depicts people and figures in large, exaggerated volume, which can represent political criticism or humor, depending on the piece. He is considered the most recognized and quoted living artist from Latin America, and his art can be found in highly visible places around the world, such as Park Avenue in New York City and the Champs-Élysées in Paris. Self-titled "the most Colombian of Colombian artists" early on, he came to national prominence when he won the first prize at the Salón de Artistas Colombianos in 1958. Working most of the year in Paris, in the last three decades he has achieved international recognition for his paintings, drawings and sculpture, with exhibitions across the world.His art is collected by many major international museums, corporations, and private collectors. In

2012, he received the International Sculpture Center's Lifetime Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award. Well, now Botero is in Houston. Art of the World Gallery just opened its doors in Houston. Owners Liliana Molina and Mauricio Vallejo welcomed over 300 art enthusiasts for a private grand opening reception. The evening celebrated the inaugural exhibition featuring worldwide renowned Latin American artist Fernando Botero, which will be on display now through Saturday, February 11, 2017. Guests were immediately captivated by the monumental sculpture Reclining Woman with Fruit which was part of a recent installation and sits outside the gallery’s window display. The bronze voluptuous sculpture, which was made in Italy and weighs two tons, was created by the Colombian Maestro Fernando Botero. It is also the artist’s last monumental sculpture.

Inside the gallery, art collectors enjoyed complimentary champagne and wine while they viewed close to 40 of Botero’s paintings, sculptures and drawings. All the works of art are for sale. The exhibition can be considered a retrospective of Botero’s work. It is comprised of paintings from the 50s, 60s, 90s and recent works; drawings from 80s, 90s and latest pieces; also, small, medium and monumental bronze sculptures, and one petite marble sculpture from 1982. On the second floor of the venue, guests were able to view a preview of the upcoming exhibition, Julio Larraz along with Art of the World’s collection of art, which is comprised of masters and mid-career painters and sculptors from Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia. In addition to the gallery, owners Molina and Vallejo plan to install monumental artworks around prominent public spaces in Houston.

Having been raised under very rigorous Italian traditions, such as exceptional homemade pasta, warm bread and olive oil, true parmesan cheese, and being surrounded by a large family at the table as a weekly mandatory experience, I'm not easily impressed by American renditions of Italian cuisine. However, I must admit Houston features some exceptional local cuisine that properly represents Europe's oldest culinary empire. Few restaurants, ones I can count on the fingers of one hand, in Houston and The Woodlands, meet my criteria for an authentic Italian experience. Even so, they all lack one key component: Chef Ricky Cruz. This one ingredient marks the difference and sets the standard for all others. And Grotto Ristorante is the one that has it! Chef Cruz is an institution in himself. His impressive bio following on the next page is worth a read. For now, let's focus on his food.
We came, and we decided to taste small portions of at least half dozen signature main courses, plus appetizers, soups, and desserts. Sure enough, we did it all. We began our journey with the Pear Carpaccio salad, an original mix of pears, baby spinach and tomatoes served with a sherry balsamic vinaigrette. It was an absolutely delicious creation. And the same goes for the Tomato Basil soup, made of simmered San Marzano tomatoes and fresh basil. The Greek Flatbread, topped with roasted chicken and tomatoes, Kalamata olives, artichokes, fresh feta cheese and pesto, was a definite must-have. As any good Italian, I went straight for the pasta: Ravioli alla Vodka was my first choice. Homemade four-cheese ravioli served with a vodka sugo rosa; a delicate recipe of the best Chef Cruz style.

The Gnocchi de Spinaci, a recipe of spinach and ricotta dumplings, jumbo shrimp (I did without the shrimp) on Amatriciana sauce, is another feast reminiscent of the Italian countryside. The Lasagne al Forno, thin-baked layers of pasta, beef bolognese, ricotta and mozzarella is also top of my list, along with the Mezzaluna, a half-moon spinach ravioli with mushrooms and Roma tomatoes. Both are a sensation. The Pollo Milanese is a lightly-breaded chiken breast, arugula, radicchio, feta cheese and balsamic vinaigrette; a favorite you need to taste. The best fare from the sea is also available in a variety of exquisite Italian recipes for lovers of the finest fresh seafood. Grotto is open for lunch and dinner, and offers gorgeous rooms for private events. In fact, just last night I also experienced Grotto in a private business gathering. The service could not have been a better combination of friendliness and professionalism, with two to three dedicated servers standing by at all times to take care of our every need. Of course, a true Italian exerience wouldn't be complete without a good glass of red or white wine. A wide, fine selection is available to please even the most demanding expectations. Finally, dessert. For me, it is just as important as everything else. Grotto offers a fabulous selection of home-made sweets to close out the ultimate dining experience. We would like to acknowledge Callum Gray, General Manager, as well as Brandon Busch, Regional Manager. Both took the time to be with us and make our Grotto experience a memorable one

Chef Cruz the artistry behind Grotto Although we can't ignore the fact that the nation's top restauranteur Tilman Fertitta is behind everything that takes place at Grotto, we must give the culinary magic of "Chef Cruz" the place it deserves. Ricky Cruz’s love of cooking had an early beginning. When growing up in El Salvador, one of the highlights of his day was the family dinner. His mother cooking in the kitchen is among his fondest childhood memories. Coming to the United States at age 16 with his family, he was hired as an assistant to the pastry chef and baker at the renowned restauranteur Tony Vallone’s original Tony’s on Post Oak Boulevard. Eager to learn, Ricky built his skills as he worked through every position in the kitchen. After less than a year, he was ready to move ahead. He accepted the position of sous chef at a new Vallone restaurant, Grotto, where he continued to excel. In a matter of a few years, he was named Executive Chef of that highly successful operation. And of course, he also learned Italian. When Landry’s acquired Grotto twelve years ago (2004), the new owners had expansion on the front burner. Chef Ricky’s responsibilities grew as he helped recruit staff and supervise training at each new location. This work took him
to The Woodlands, Dallas, Las Vegas, and most recently Palm Beach, Atlantic City and Galveston. During his highly successful, fast moving career, Ricky Cruz has had the privilege of working with and being influenced by well known chefs Mark Cox, Kathy Ruiz and Marco Wiles. Always eager to meet new challenges, he is also adept at team building, corporate catering, and handling special events as for My Table, Summer Signature Chef Series Dinner, Candle Light Fundraiser, Scout Fair, Sugarland Wine and Food Affair, Houston Restaurant Week and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He has a great deal of respect and appreciation for Mr. Fertitta, about whom he shared with us several stories and photography. Strategically located in City Center Houston is the quaint SAL Y PIMIENTA Kitchen. Created by the Percovich family, it redefines traditional Uruguayan cuisine by adding a touch of Italy. The restaurant exudes a warm and pleasant, yet casual atmosphere, where you can experience exquisite dishes and savor a variety of delicious wines. Recently added to the carefully curated selection of house wines are selections from two prestigious Uruguayan wineries: Montes Toscanini and Antigua Bodega Stagnari. Montes Toscanini is one of the most awarded wineries of the decade. Harvest after harvest, it proves to be consistent and strong, earning more prizes and distinctions in Uruguay than any other winery. After careful tasting, we can suggest a few pairings of the Montes Toscanini wines with delicious Sal y Piemienta dishes. The La Playa Sauvignon Blanc is a richly scented white wine that perfectly complements the Ensalada Punta del Este, a light salad topped with fresh seafood and served with a mango dressing. El Papo is made with bold tannat grapes, a variety of grape originally from the South-West of France and further developed in Canelones, Uruguay. This red family reserve flawlessly blends with the Uruguayan Loin Carpaccio served with arugula, Portobello mush-

rooms, a basil puree and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. Tannat is a full-bodied red wine aged for 12 months in both French and American barrels. This wine pairs delightfully with Raviolon de Cordero, featuring ravioli, made in-house, stuffed with marinated lamb and garnished with a tomato and wine ragu. The Gran Tannat is a fruity and tannic wine, and truly an experience beyond compare. This wine is best enjoyed with a filet mignon from 100% grass-fed Uruguayan cattle, served with brochettes of organic vegetables marinated in chimichurri. The cuts of meat offered at Sal y Pimienta are all carefully selected, imported from Uruguay, Argentina, and Brazil, as well as being locally obtained. Nothing could be better for dessert than a traditional Uruguayan ice cream. This meringue-inspired dish is topped with whipped cream and fresh peaches, and is best accompanied with the deliciously rich Liquor of Tannat from Montes Toscanini. In addition to the wines mentioned above are selections from the Antigua Bodega Stagnari vineyard. Among the most notable are: Prima Donna, Dolce Donna, Il Nero, Osiris, and Pedregal. Es privilegio nuestro beber abundantemente en la fuente de amor infinito. ¡Qué extraño que oremos tan poco! Dios está pronto y dispuesto a oír la oración sincera del más humilde de sus hijos y, sin embargo, hay de nuestra parte mucha cavilación para presentar nuestras necesidades delante de Dios. ¿Qué pueden pensar los ángeles del cielo de los pobres y desvalidos seres humanos, que están sujetos a la tentación, cuando el gran Dios lleno de infinito amor se compadece de ellos y está pronto para darles más de lo que pueden pedir o pensar y que, sin embargo, oran tan poco y tienen tan poca fe? Hay ciertas condiciones según las cuales Podemos esperar que Dios oiga y conteste nuestras oraciones. Una de las primeras es que sintamos necesidad de su ayuda. El nos ha hecho esta promesa: "Porque derramaré aguas sobre la tierra sedienta, y corrientes sobre el sequedal' (Isaías 44: 3). Si toleramos la iniquidad en nuestro corazón, si estamos apegados a algún pecado conocido, el Señor no nos oirá; mas la oración del alma arrepentida y contrita será siempre aceptada. Cuando hayamos confesado con corazón contrito todos nuestros pecados conocidos, podremos esperar que Dios conteste nuestras peticiones. Nuestros propios méritos nunca nos recomendarán a la gracia de Dios. Es el mérito de Jesús lo que nos salva y su sangre lo que nos limpia; sin embargo, nosotros tenemos una obra que hacer para cumplir las condiciones de la aceptación. La oración eficaz tiene otro elemento: la fe. "Porque es preciso que el que viene a Dios, crea que existe, y que se ha constituido remunerador de los que le buscan" (Hebreos 11: 6 ). La seguridad es amplia e ilimitada, y fiel es el que ha prometido. Cuando no recibimos precisamente las cosas que pedimos y al instante, debemos creer aún que el Señor oye y que contestará nuestras oraciones. Somos tan cortos de vista y propensos a errar, que algunas veces pedimos cosas que no serían una bendición para nosotros, y nuestro Padre celestial contesta con amor nuestras oraciones dándonos aquello que es para nuestro más alto bien, aquello que nosotros mismos desearíamos si, alumbrados de celestial saber, pudiéramos ver todas las cosas como realmente son. Cuando nos parezca que nuestras oraciones no son contestadas, debemos aferrarnos a la promesa; porque el tiempo de recibir contestación seguramente vendrá y recibiremos las bendiciones que más necesitamos. Por supuesto, pretender que nuestras oraciones sean siempre contestadas en la misma forma y según la cosa particular que pidamos, es presunción. Dios es demasiado sabio para equivocarse y demasiado bueno para negar un bien a los que andan en integridad. Así que no temáis confiar en él, aunque no veáis la inmediata respuesta de vuestras oraciones. Confiad en la seguridad de su promesa: "Pedid, y se os dará".
HOGAR Y FAMILIA alma. Aprovechad toda oportunidad de ir donde se suela orar. Los que están realmente procurando estar en comunión con Dios, asistirán a los cultos de oración, fieles en cumplir su deber, ávidos y ansiosos de cosechar todos los beneficios que puedan alcanzar. Aprovecharán toda oportunidad de colocarse donde puedan recibir rayos de luz celestial. Debemos también orar en el círculo de nuestra familia; y sobre todo no descuidar la oración privada, porque ésta es la vida del alma. Es imposible que el alma florezca cuando se descuida la oración. La sola oración pública o con la familia no es suficiente. En medio de la soledad abrid vuestra alma al ojo penetrante de Dios. La oración secreta sólo debe ser oída del que escudriña los corazones: Dios. Ningún oído curioso debe recibir el peso de tales peticiones. En la oración privada el alma esta libre de las influencias del ambiente, libre de excitación. Tranquila pero fervientemente se extenderá la oración hacia Dios. Dulce y permanente será la influencia que dimana de Aquel que ve en lo secreto, cuyo oído está abierto a la oración que sale de lo profundo del alma. Por una fe sencilla y tranquila el alma se mantiene en comunión con Dios y recoge los rayos de la luz divina para fortalecerse y sostenerse en la lucha contra Satanás. Dios es el castillo de nuestra fortaleza.
Si consultamos nuestras dudas y temores, o procuramos resolver cada cosa que no veamos claramente, antes de tener fe, solamente se acrecentarán y profundizarán las perplejidades. Mas si venimos a Dios sintiéndonos desamparados y necesitados, como realmente somos, si venimos con humildad y con la verdadera certidumbre de la fe le presentamos nuestras necesidades a Aquel cuyo conocimiento es infinito, a quien nada se le oculta y quien gobierna todas las cosas por su voluntad y palabra, él puede y quiere atender nuestro clamor y hacer resplandecer su luz en nuestro corazón. Por la oración sincera nos ponemos en comunicación con la mente del Infinito. Quizás no tengamos al instante ninguna prueba notable de que el rostro de nuestro Redentor está inclinado hacia nosotros con compasión y amor; sin embargo es así. No podemos sentir su toque manifiesto, mas su mano nos sustenta con amor y piadosa ternura. Cuando imploramos misericordia y bendición de Dios, debemos tener un espíritu de amor y perdón en nuestro propio corazón. ¿Cómo podemos orar: "Perdónanos nuestras deudas, como también nosotros perdonamos a nuestros deudores" (S. Mateo 6:12) y abrigar, sin embargo, un espíritu que no perdona? Si esperamos que nuestras oraciones sean oídas, debemos perdonar a otros como esperamos ser perdonados nosotros. La perseverancia en la oración ha sido constituida en condición para recibir. Debemos orar siempre si queremos crecer en fe y en experiencia. Debemos ser "perseverantes en la oración" (Romanos 12: 12). "Perseverad en la oración, velando en ella, con acciones de gracia". (Colosenses 4: 2). El apóstol Pedro exhorta a los cristianos a que sean "sobrios, y vigilantes en las oraciones" (1 S. Pedro 4: 7). San Pablo ordena: "En todas las circunstancias, por medio de la oración y la plegaria, con acciones de gracias, dense a conocer vuestras peticiones a Dios" (Filipenses 4: 6). "Vosotros empero, hermanos,... - dice Judas - orando en el Espíritu Santo, guardaos en el amor de Dios" (S. Judas 20, 21). Orar sin cesar es mantener una unión no interrumpida del alma con Dios, de modo que la vida de Dios fluya a la nuestra; y de nuestra vida la pureza y la santidad refluyan a Dios. Es necesario ser diligentes en la oración; ninguna cosa os lo impida. Haced cuanto podáis para que haya una comunión continua entre Jesús y vuestra
Orad en vuestro gabinete; y al ir a vuestro trabajo cotidiano, levantad a menudo vuestro corazón a Dios. De este modo anduvo Enoc con Dios. Esas oraciones silenciosas llegan como precioso incienso al trono de la gracia. Satanás no puede vencer a aquel cuyo corazón esta así apoyado en Dios. No hay tiempo o lugar en que sea impropio orar a Dios. No hay nada que pueda impedirnos elevar nuestro corazón en ferviente oración. En medio de las multitudes y del afán de nuestros negocios, podemos ofrecer a Dios nuestras peticiones e implorar la divina dirección, como lo hizo Nehemías cuando hizo la petición delante del rey Artajerjes. En dondequiera que estemos podemos estar en comunión con él. Debemos tener abierta continuamente la puerta del corazón, e invitar siempre a Jesús a venir y morar en el alma como huésped celestial. Aunque estemos rodeados de una atmósfera corrompida y manchada, no necesitamos respirar sus miasmas, antes bien podemos vivir en la atmósfera limpia del cielo. Podemos cerrar la entrada a toda imaginación impura y a todo pensamiento perverso, elevando el alma a Dios mediante la oración sincera. Aquellos cuyo corazón esté abierto para recibir el apoyo y la bendición de Dios, andarán en una atmósfera más santa que la del mundo y tendrán constante comunión con el cielo. Necesitamos tener ideas más claras de Jesús y una comprensión más completa de las realidades eternas. La hermosura de la santidad ha de consolar el corazón de los hijos de Dios: y para que esto se lleve a cabo, debemos buscar las revelaciones divinas de las cosas celestiales. Extiéndase y elévese el alma para que Dios pueda concedernos respirar la atmósfera celestial. Podemos mantenernos tan cerca de Dios que en cualquier prueba inesperada nuestros pensamientos se vuelvan a él tan naturalmente como la flor se vuelve al sol. Presentad a Dios vuestras necesidades, gozos, tristezas, cuidados y temores. No podéis agobiarlo ni cansarlo. El que tiene contados los cabellos de vuestra cabeza, no es indiferente a las necesidades de sus hijos. "Porque el Señor es muy misericordioso y compasivo' (Santiago 5: 11). Su amoroso corazón se conmueve por nuestras tristezas y aún por nuestra presentación de ellas. Llevadle todo lo que confunda vuestra mente. Ninguna cosa es demasiado grande para que él no la pueda soportar; él sostiene los mundos y gobierna todos los asuntos del universo. Ninguna cosa que de alguna manera afecte nuestra paz es tan pequeña que él no la note. No hay en nuestra experiencia ningún pasaje tan oscuro que él no pueda leer, ni perplejidad tan grande que él no pueda desenredar. Ninguna calamidad puede acaecer al más pequeño de sus hijos, ninguna ansiedad puede asaltar el alma, ningún gozo alegrar, ninguna oración sincera escaparse de los labios, sin que el Padre celestial esté al tanto de ello, sin que tome en ello un interés inmediato. Jesús decía: "Pediréis en mi nombre; y no os digo que yo rogaré al Padre por vosotros; porque el Padre mismo os ama' (S. Juan 16: 26, 27 ) "Yo os elegí a vosotros... para que cuanto pidiereis al Padre en mi nombre, él os lo dé" (S. Juan 15: 16). Orar en nombre de Jesús es más que una mera mención de su nombre al principio y al fin de la oración. Es orar con los sentimientos y el espíritu de Jesús, creyendo en sus promesas, confiando en su gracia y haciendo sus obras.

Somos diariamente los recipientes de las misericordias de Dios y, sin embargo, ¡cuán poca gratitud expresamos, cuán poco lo alabamos por lo que ha hecho por nosotros! Antiguamente el Señor ordenó esto a Israel, para cuando se congregara para su servicio: "Y los comeréis allí delante de Jehová vuestro Dios; y os regocijaréis vosotros y vuestras familias en toda empresa de vuestra mano, en que os habrá bendecido Jehová vuestro Dios" (Deuteronomio 12: 7). Aquello que se hace para la gloria de Dios debe hacerse con alegría, con cánticos de alabanza y acción de gracias, no con tristeza y semblante adusto.
Dios no pretende que algunos de nosotros nos hagamos ermitaños o monjes, ni que nos retiremos del mundo a fin de consagrarnos a los actos de adoración. Nuestra vida debe ser como la vida de Cristo, que estaba repartida entre la montaña y la multitud. El que no hace nada más que orar, pronto dejará de hacerlo o sus oraciones llegarán a ser una rutina formal. Cuando los hombres se alejan de la vida social, de la esfera del deber cristiano y de la obligación de llevar su cruz; cuando dejan de trabajar ardientemente por el Maestro que trabajaba con ardor por ellos, pierden lo esencial de la oración y no tienen ya estímulo para la devoción. Sus oraciones llegan a ser personales y egoístas. No pueden orar por las necesidades de la humanidad o la extensión del reino de Cristo, ni pedir fuerza con que trabajar.
Nuestro Dios es un Padre tierno y misericordioso. Su servicio no debe mirarse como una cosa que entristece, como un ejercicio que desagrada. Debe ser un placer adorar al Señor y participar en su obra. Dios no quiere que sus hijos, a los cuales proporcionó una salvación tan grande, trabajen como si él fuera un amo duro y exigente. El es nuestro mejor amigo, y cuando lo adoramos, quiere estar con nosotros para bendecirnos y confortarnos, llenando nuestro corazón de alegría y amor. El Señor quiere que sus hijos se consuelen en su servicio y hallen más placer que penalidad en el trabajo. El quiere que los que lo adoran saquen pensamientos preciosos de su cuidado y amor, para que estén siempre contentos y tengan gracia para conducirse honesta y fielmente en todas las cosas.
Sufrimos una pérdida cuando descuidamos la oportunidad de asociarnos para fortalecernos y edificarnos mutuamente en el servicio de Dios. Las verdades de su Palabra pierden en nuestras almas su vivacidad e importancia. Nuestros corazones dejan de ser alumbrados y vivificados por la influencia santificadora y declinamos en espiritualidad. En nuestra asociación como cristianos perdemos mucho por falta de simpatías mutuas. El que se encierra completamente dentro de sí mismo no esta ocupando la posición que Dios le señaló. El cultivo apropiado de los elementos sociales de nuestra naturaleza nos hace simpatizar con otros y es para nosotros un medio de desarrollarnos y fortalecernos en el servicio de Dios. Si todos los cristianos se asociaran, hablando entre ellos del amor de Dios y de las preciosas verdades de la redención, su corazón se robustecería y se edificarían mutuamente.
Es preciso juntarnos en torno de la cruz. Cristo, y Cristo crucificado, debe ser el tema de nuestra meditación, conversación y más gozosa emoción. Debemos tener presentes todas las bendiciones que recibimos de Dios, y al darnos cuenta de su gran amor, debiéramos estar prontos a confiar todas las cosas a la mano que fue clavada en la cruz por nosotros.
Aprendamos diariamente más de nuestro Padre celestial, obteniendo una nueva experiencia de su gracia, y entonces desearemos hablar de su amor; así nuestro propio corazón se encenderá y reanimará. Si pensáramos y habláramos más de Jesús y menos de nosotros mismos, tendríamos mucho más de su presencia. Si tan sólo pensáramos en él tantas veces como tenemos pruebas de su cuidado por nosotros, lo tendríamos siempre presente en nuestros pensamientos y nos deleitaríamos en hablar de él y en alabarle. Hablamos de las cosas temporales porque tenemos interés en ellas. Hablamos de nuestros amigos porque los amamos; nuestras tristezas y alegrías están ligadas con ellos. Sin embargo, tenemos razones infinitamente mayores para amar a Dios que para amar a nuestros amigos terrenales, y debería ser la cosa más natural del mundo tenerlo como el primero en todos nuestros pensamientos, hablar de su bondad y alabar su poder.

Los ricos dones que ha derramado sobre nosotros no estaban destinados a absorber nuestros pensamientos y amor de tal manera que nada tuviéramos que dar a Dios; antes bien, debieran hacernos acordar constantemente de él y unirnos por medio de los vínculos del amor y gratitud a nuestro celestial Benefactor. Vivimos demasiado apegados a lo terreno. Levantemos nuestros ojos hacia la puerta abierta del santuario celestial, donde la luz de la gloria de Dios resplandece en el rostro de Cristo, quien "también puede salvar hasta lo sumo a los que se acercan a Dios por medio de él" (Hebreos 7: 25). Debemos alabar más a Dios por su misericordia "y sus maravillas para con los hijos de Adán' (Salmo 107: 8). Nuestros ejercicios de devoción no deben consistir enteramente en pedir y recibir. No estemos pensando siempre en nuestras necesidades y nunca en las bendiciones que recibimos. No oramos

Frank Sinatra’s would-have-been 101st birthday is closing in. And between now and December 12, hordes of fans and devotees will bask in the trove of music that still captivates millions. With Sinatra-themed parties and events at an all-time high, Frank-like singers are in high demand. High cholesterol increases your risk of having a heart attack or a stroke. Keeping it at an optimal level relies largely on your food consumption. And when it comes to eating, is not a matter of restriction but of making good choices. Most people believe cholesterol is harmful but that is a misconception. In fact, it is a molecule the body needs to function properly and participates in normal processes of the body such as the synthesis of hormones or the composition of cell walls. The problem arises when cholesterol levels are in excess, since it can block arteries.
It is not about restricting, but making good choices. Doctors prefer you follow a stable and healthy diet most of the time than to strictly avoid certain foods. Physical activity also has a great impact on your arterial health as well as your overall health. Here are some small tips that can help you cook in a healthy way and maintain your cholesterol levels. • Choose vegetable oil spray in nonstick pans.

The difference between good and bad cholesterol is not entirely accurate, since this distinction refers to the denomination of lipoproteins, which are the ones that lead to cholesterol.

Low-density lipoproteins (LDL) are known as bad cholesterol because they are associated with the development of atherosclerosis plaques and with blockage of the arteries. On the other hand, High-density lipoproteins (HDLs) collect unused cholesterol and return it to the liver for storage or excretion to the outside through the bile. That is why it is known as “good” cholesterol since it contributes to reduce atheroma plaques and favor arterial elasticity. To keep cholesterol at optimum levels it is often recommended to restrict fat consumption, but not all, only the unhealthy. There are fats called essentials because they fulfill very important functions in the body and need to be incorporated from food. A good diet plan should include monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids, omega 3, vitamin E and fiber, which can be incorporated through the consumption of oils (olive, canola, soy and sunflower), dried fruits (almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, chestnuts ), Seeds (chia, flax, pumpkin, sunflower, sesame) and avocado, among other foods. Most importantly: Avoiding the consumption of animal fat.

QUESTION: Is “generic Viagra” from Canadian or other mail-order pharmacies legit? What is the truth about “generic Viagra? Viagra is a very expensive drug for erectile dysfunction that is made by Pfizer. Rightly or wrongly, Medicare and many private drug plans won’t cover Viagra. The pill came out in 1998 at an original cost of about $12 per pill. Understanding how miraculously it works, people took that price as a bargain. But like with anything in high demand, prices skyrocketed indiscriminately, today reaching over $50 per pill. ANSWER: Any pharmacy that’s offering generic Viagra is probably using a counterfeit product that’s not approved, said Carmen Catizone, the executive director of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy, a professional organization unaffiliated with drug makers. At Walgreen, Walmart, CVS, Sam's or Costco, each 100-milligram tablet of prescription Viagra costs roughly $50. By contrast, various sites claim to sell generic Viagra from overseas for $1 to $4 a pop. While a generic form of Viagra, known as sildenafil, is made in some countries, bargain hunters may be buying sugar pills, or inadvertently getting a low dose of the drug. “The medication may be there, but it’s a much lower dose. Then the guy gets depressed because he thinks nothing is going to work,” said Dr. Darius Paduch, the director of sexual health and medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian. “So he may stop having sex or never see a doctor.” For a man, this is a desperate situation. Medical problems can also arise if a patient gets fake Viagra that’s “substantially less effective” but doesn’t disclose that he got it from a suspect site touting cheap Viagra, Dr. Paduch said. “I will escalate their treatment

thinking they took the prescription.” He might, for example, suggest penile injection therapy, which can have serious side effects for a man who has a mild erectile dysfunction, as the injections are for more severe cases. All the while, the patient with a mild case might have responded to bona fide Viagra from a legitimate pharmacy. Shame is the issue, not cost, for some people. Even with a prescription, Dr. Paduch said some patients prefer to buy online or trek to the office for a free sample, rather than face the pharmacist. “They are so ashamed because of the stigma, which is completely stupid,” said Dr. Paduch, who used to be a paid research investigator for Eli Lilly, the maker of Cialis, another pill for erectile dysfunction. And is particularly true with Latino men, who are supposed to be the "macho" of all groups. Hispanic have a very hard time admitting they have an erectile dysfunction problem. Roger Bate, a pharmaceutical expert at the American Enterprise Institute, warned men not to answer a random spam email selling really cheap Viagra. “You’re running a significant risk,” he said, with some websites “not only trying to get your money and sell you a fake pill, but probably trying to steal your identity as well.” But, he said, real Viagra, made by Pfizer, is available from some foreign websites. He recommends looking for sites certified by the Canadian International Pharmacy Association, a trade group of Canadian pharmacies, or those vetted by PharmacyChecker.com, a company that verifies international online pharmacies. On its site, the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy also lists vetted pharmacies where patients can “get safe and effective medication” at competitive prices, Mr. Catizone said. Insurance often covers six to eight erectile dysfunction pills a month, and both Pfizer and Eli Lilly offer discount programs.

American Custom Jeep is a customization shop that takes prides in creating the most extreme and one-of-a-kind Jeeps in the world. Imitated by many but never duplicated. The Armor Kevlar Edition in “Tiffany Blue” was handcrafted by the expert technicians at American Custom Jeep with passion and attention to detail. The build was started using a 2016 Jeep Wrangler base model with upgraded gearing to handle the bigger tires; ordered directly from the manufacturer. It was then carefully stripped down to bare body, prepped, and Kevlar coated. According to kevlarjeep.com “Kevlar coating is a super tough finish with 4700 tensile strength, and is basically scratch resistant in almost all cases." Meanwhile, and after many trial and errors, the Tiffany Blue color was perfected and the entire suspension, wheels, bolts, interior trim, and many other small details were color-matched. That is when the team began putting their ideas together to create this beautiful masterpiece, which is only one example of what they are capable of.

6 years after presenting the Evoque Convertible at the 2012 Geneva car show, Land Rover has added a convertible edition to the regular 5-door and coupe body style versions. Prices start at $43,000 and can go up to $63,000. It comes in SE, SE Premium, SE Dynamic, HSE, and HSE Dynamic versions. The 2017 Land Rover has an impressive lavish interior, with luxury features and high-quality materials. The front seats are comfortable and spacious; the rear seats are a bit smaller. The cargo space, with just nine cubit feet on the convertible version, is undoubtedly smaller, with room for only two standard carry-on suitcase, but hey,

The Active Driveline system, during certain on-road situations, disconnects the drive to the rear wheels, improving fuel economy; if the engine is accelerated hard or the surface changes, the rear wheels are reconnected within 300 milliseconds. Torque Vectoring by Braking (TVbB) improves control when

Farmers Insurance looks for potential owners who will be responsible and present in the everyday business matters. For those not yet ready to own their own business, Farmers offers a mentor program. During this program, you will work for an established, successful agent for two years. If at the end of the two years you have proven yourself to be a good representative of Farmers Insurance, you will be given your own agency.
