E

arly July 2019, Ian Moss and Martin Carter were sat in the shade of a secluded garden in the heart of Suffolk enjoying the space around them. Conversation soon turned to the fine moments, on the greatest nights at the Freudian Sheep Art Gallery - The talented artists which Ian Moss supported during his time at the grade two listed building in Ipswich that became a heartland, with some flippant remark of a flamed Phoenix returning it’s orbit scorched but not burnt!

A

fter an all night converse, the sunrise brought light and warmth to the day, as well as an extensive ‘to do’ list. For what was once a private garden needed to be converted to an ‘open air’ art space, with the purpose to once again enjoy art within a unique setting. We chose five artists who exhibited at the Freudian Sheep Art Gallery, to see the progress in their creative careers. ‘One of the most important elements of an open - air art gallery’ is the weather, and that’s where the MET Office came in.

F

ollowing the ebb and flow of our UK summer season, (predicted two months in advance) we had the ‘unofficial’ last day of summer weather in our sights. A full day of sunshine with an evening slot of dryness and moderate temperature, and thats just what we got. With a date in mind we went to work to make that spark of inspiration become a real life happening. With blood, sweat and sometimes tears; walls were painted ‘twice’, wood was cut, holes drilled, lights set up and screws were fixed. This was on.

T

he artists invited to appear in this one-off show readily accepted to be part of USB ‘ ’. An exploration of art from across Suffolk and Norfolk making an impact upon the global stage. On the 21st September, 2019 the USB Gallery Studio opened its gates for the first time to put on an amazing show of contemporary paintings, sculpture and art films. This was the show with no theme, just simply celebrating the amazing art of the artists, to see what would came together naturally - all for just one day... #MCusb2010
