A CONVERSATION RE-BRANDING YCN BRIEF
PROJECT 1 A CONVERSATION
Brief: “A Conversation & Mind-map My conversation is about green fanged monstrous spiders that are still out there this winter and they are dangerous for us humans. For this project I want to do something related to spiders and greenery environment around these insects. Therefore I’ve decided to go on this root of creating spiders web on different material for experimentation. The material that I will work with will link to greenery and I will also work with different surfaces such as leaves, clay, plastic, acrylic, glass, tiles and many more. The reason for this is because spider inhabit themselves in greenery and this is how the climate gets involved, due to the warmth of the colours , different shades of green with a hint of pink and red as this creates amusing out skate. I will then do delicate work of traditional henna patterns, that will symbolise the plants, trees and flowers. For the final piece my aim and target is to generate pattern work with the adaptations of the spiders web, before I do get on to the final piece I will carry on experimenting with series of material and medium before deciding on one. The final element that I want to create will be for the audience that love spider habitats and adore the pattern work, my target group would be the ones accompanied by greenery so therefore age group would be 18+ for both genders.
My concept is related to spiders, leading to spider web that symbolise figurative spider. I want to visualise the information about the danger of green fanged spiders. I would like to present this information in interesting way, to show what the concept is based on, therefore the spiders web would be the main focus of the overall concept. My main focus is to experimenting with spiders web, then take it one step further by producing range of sketches using different shapes and sizes. I will also try my best to use different techniques to include into my work, I will then develop the work by adding colours to my work, this is when I came in use with the colour wheel, to see which colour goes well with in its contraction. I will then have a look at architectural spiders web work to create a Inimitable spiders web design that involves a lot of geometric patters, Correspondingly that modify its greenery to it, this is because it will to help its colours to stand out after the sketch wok is completed, then try to create it in different materials and accumulate the pattern work together. To do all this I will look at various designers, and work on crockery by painted and drawing patterns of the spiders web on top of it, I went along with this concept of spiders web. I want to along the path to produce something that is link with spider webs.

Contemporary Illustration Patterns
Ideas 1
Here I started to look at more greenery piece of work that will have symmetrical patterns involved with it. The patterns that I have looked at previously uses very fine patterns which I have also done on these green tiles.
After looking at handful of greenery pattern work, I started to work on my own patterns by experimenting on leaves and glass tiles. On these tiles I have combined spiders web and patterns to create this design.
Ideas 2
For influence purposes I looked at Clarice Cliff ’s work, her work lead me to doing my own, what I really liked about her work was the colours that she uses and the style that she painted in, that really brought my attention to her work, so after looking at quality work of pottery, I made an attempt on doing my own painting and pattern work on some plates.
I am very proud of the overall result, I personally think I’ve done a pretty well job. For more inspiration I looked at Febrrege art work and the way he uses pattern and his style to enhance and blend together the vibrant colours. This has really got me mesmerising and inspiring.
Ideas 3
I collected some leaves to experiment on them by drawing fine pattern on to the leaves by using diverse range of medium and to see, which sits well to compose them.
Final Piece
Analysis In this project I felt that I have lengthily explored the ideas and many different repetition of what a conversation can be about. I came up with something stimulating to be shown. I am proud of my work that I’ve done for this project, I did a whole load of planning and pre-ping as part of my research also evaluating different ideas on what my final piece could turn out to be like. I am delighted that I did more development work before I decided to come up with a final outcome; all my ideas of development work are linked with one another, besides that I tired to portray it in an exclusive way, I was spectacularly impressed with the amount of development I had done. I personally feel that I could have also rendered out other pieces off work to create something else such as a mosaic that may have been more interesting to complete perhaps have the authentic design idea. Overall I have found it absolutely amazing working solid materials and attempting to such fine quality of work with such neat and tired detailing.
PROJECT 2 RE-BANDING
Re-Branding Brief
If a brand results from a set of associations and perceptions in people’s minds, then branding is an attempt to harness, generate, influence and control these associations to help the business perform better. Any organisation can benefit enormously by creating a brand that presents the company as distinctive, trusted, exciting, reliable or whichever attributes are appropriate to that business.’
Through branding and re-branding many struggling companies can be helped to become more successful, new commercial ventures can quickly build trust and reach their potential audience and small organisations can outperform much larger competitors.
This project will involve you working with others to explore the potential of branding, collaboratively compile, share and Http://www.designcouncil.org.uk/news-opinion/power- analyse research and individually work up concepts and outcomes. branding For all companies and organisations how they are perceived and understood is a vital consideration and a major determining factor in their continuing success or This project has 2 x main sets of tasks. 1 x group, where you survival. are required to collaborate and share research and the 2nd set where you will develop and produce your own individual outcomes. The quality of the branding of any company, commercial venture or organisation can literally be the difference
Concepts
Here I have listed three different topics for the concept to help me re-brand this company that I have chose in the best way possible, without inconvenience, I have kept the concept very easy, simple and modest, so that my ideas don not get interacted and over crowed accompanied by that I have given myself some guidance on what I can include when doing the re-branding.

Retro Interior
Experimentation
Here I experimented with different fonts by looking fonts by looking at my typography mood board that I created so it’s apposite and interesting by giving a retro look. I then had to create two version of typography colour scheme that was done because I thought the word Queenies could represent royalty so I choose the retro colour to represents the 90’s style. From the different colour schemes I finalised it by choosing the retro scheme, which I then applied to my logo. I used the same colour that I chose at the start maroon and dark brown, but in different font style so that I could compare and contrast before choosing the final logo.
Here I have experimented with geometrically patterns by using triangles as a shape and with that I was able to make a hexagon shape, which was done by linking the triangles together. By using the hexagon shape to brand the company and create a logo out of it for the Queenies coffee shop.
Colour Palate & Logo
Q I have created a logo for Queenies, here I have repeated the shape various times to create a template of patterns to use for the branding. I have experimented with different layout of the pattern before continuing with a final pattern. At this point I decided to change the my coffee shop logo because I thought that I should design a logo that is different from other coffee shop logos as they are recognisable due to the traditional symbol of a coffee cup design and I want to make my logo more interesting. Therefore I decided to make the logo based on my pattern that represents a coffee cup but in a more curious way. I have also transferred my pattern onto the business card along with this I created a loyalty card to for the customers that visit the coffee shop regularly. Lastly the colour scheme I have chosen for the branding are maroon, red and grey the colour are shown above..

These are the stickers I’ve designer to stick onto my packaging such as the on the take-out bags and tissues, also I designed and created the cup holders with the design printed out on my branding equipment.
Final Piece
Analysis Throughout this project I felt that I have assessed what was needed to do in the finest way possible in which to design the product that had been asked for me to do as a professional and modern style. I am very pleased with the way in which I accomplished myself by researching meritoriously and working well in a group to succeed and collect vital data that would go on to form different aspects of the design. I found this project very covenanting in teaching me how to execute as a designer in reference to a real client and changing something existing rather than being asked to produce something new and original. This was a company and their brand without being parallel to the branding that already exists. The design that I have come up with for this project is very stimulating and eye-catching, my personal thoughts on this were that the aspect that I spent on designing and thinking about the logo, cups, bags, tissue, menus, business and loyally cards are more sophisticating and definable in other work better than the original ones from coffee shop called Queenies, this shows that when branding you should focus on the product to design the brand the reason for that is because every quality of the product needs to be at a balance view. Overall I am pleased with the final result of my branding kit that I have re-branded, I think I’ve done superlative job to re-branding the coffee shop, along side with that I was told to produce a set of guideline document outlining the specific requirements and terms of using the brand and logo which was something I had never done before that managed to do really well in order come out with a great outcome.
PROJECT 3 LIVE BRIEF
J2O
YNC Student Awards 2015 Maryiam Mobein Mukhtar Student of Huddersfield University
Brief: YCN REDESIGNING J20 Background:
Creative Challenge:
Creative Requirements:
J2O was born out of Britvic’s historic expertise in juice blending. When it launched in 1998, J2O was a pioneer in the adult soft drinks category, enabling consumers to have a satisfying drink experience that didn’t disappoint when socialising with friends.
As it stands, 40% of J2O consumption is by those aged 16 and under, but we’re wanting to change that. The current artwork design is not seen as ‘adult’ by many; the colours are viewed as bright and childish, and some consumers have even described it as cheap and ‘chavvy’.
Any additional elements referenced in this brief can be found in the supporting Project Pack which can be found in the Student Awards section of the YCN website.
By expertly blending different fruit juices with their unique aromas, J2O is carefully crafted to create a satisfying and multi-dimensional taste experience. The drink delivers strong, well-rounded flavours that have a velvety, sweet mouth-feel with lingering fruit flavours and a zing Creative J2O is a blend of two fruits between growth, continuation and failure.
Therefore like you to redesign J2O to appeal to a target audience of 25-35-year-old men and women. The design should make them proud to be seen holding J2O in bars, restaurants and at home, and should bring through J2O’s expressive, unpretentious and playful personality. Designs must be created for both our Orange & Passion Fruit flavour and our Apple & Mango flavour. Please also come up with packaging designs for the 4pk packaging for each of these flavours. You’ll find cutter guide artwork in the Project Pack.
Should you wish, you can also submit physical material such as prototypes and mock-ups etc. We’re also interested in seeing the creative process that led to your final idea. This can be hand sketches or alternative design directions you explored before selecting your final one. Considerations: Ensure that consumers know that J2O is a blend of two fruits. The J2O logo and bottle shape drives consumer recognition so must be maintained. The J2O brand is synonymous with the colour green that is on all of our packaging.

RESEARCH & IDEAS
DESIDN 1 Here are my first and second drafts of the design that I have created for the J20 drink bottles, I have added different shapes and patterns to the bottles before I selected the final one. I have experimented with the neck bottle stickers by using the main colours and patterns of the flavoured drinks.

Analysis The reason why I’ve chosen this brief is because I feel confident and passionate about re-branding the J2O logo, correspondingly I find that package designing is my strength and I’m cable to promote the product to the target audience. I will be redesigning the J2O logo into the style that I find better and also keep in mind what will suit the audience preferences because the J2O drink is aimed at adults aged 25-35 years old for both male and female genders. This is one particular drink that can be served in places such as Supermarkets Restaurants, CafÊs and Bars; this drink has also been classified as a healthy drink and can be replaced by alcoholic drinks. Also during this project I felt that I have efficaciously take up the live brief and studied what was being asked of me to produce and create, I found that my research was very worthwhile, effectual and very influential to the target audience that its aimed at. I had a look at various different J20 juice brands to get many example as possible to inspire me on the different styles that I could adapt my work to for the project similarly I was able to re-brand the packaging of j20, by dong that it had made it easier for me to experiment with different patterns and able to construct various kinds of outcomes, this is how I got my final outcome. I am very pleased and satisfied with the final design for the packaging it looks very effective unique and attractive to all-purposes of audience.
