To Miss Helen Ott, librarian of M aryville High School, w e gratefully dedicate the 1948 Appalachian. A ll through our high school years she has guided us with patience and friendly interest. Her hard work and high ideals have made our school library one of the best and most attractive in this section. W e feel that our dedication of this book to her is but a small token of the honor which she deserves.

RED

REBELS

BLOUNT CO UNTY CHAM PIONS M aryville's 1947 Red Rebels w ill be remembered as one of the hardest fighting teams in the school history. Under the expert direction of Coaches Ren fro, Greene, and Hightower, these boys developed a team spirit that w ill not be quickly forgotten. Beginning the season with only eight returning lettermen, the Rebeis settled down to work and compiled a record of seven games won and three lost. Included were victories over Everett and Townsend which made M aryville the Blount Counjy Champions for the second successive sfeason.
