School Year Fall Rally FTC C.O.C.I. Divisional Project UNICEF + Visits Contacts

School Year I am super excited for this school year! I know that we can accomplish so much as a division. I hope that all of you had a wonderful summer and I can’t wait to get this school year rolling! There’s a lot to do this year and I am highly encouraging division 28 to become one of the best divisions in the T-O District. It’s our time. Some guidelines for the year: When formulating your calendar, scheduling four meetings a month seems like a challenge, but honestly it’s not at all. There is only one meeting a week and only two of them require all members to present. It keeps a cohesion within your club and you have higher attendance at meetings and events. People like routine. One big project a month is something easy you can do during the summer. All you have to do is come up with at least nine projects. That’s super easy! Socials are also very easy to create. Maybe you could have a Key Club holiday party or have an annual Key Club banquet at a restaurant. You could even offer awards to those who were most dedicated throughout the year. Fundraising is essential to your DCON attendance. Already put on your calendars that you’re coming to DCON. Not only fundraise, but contact your local Kiwanis club and ask how much they will offer your club. Often times, they will donate much money toward your DCON experience! Don’t forget the t-shirt. Everyone loves a good t-shirt.

- Have at least four meetings per month, two officer meetings and two member meetings -

(pick alternating weeks and then put every date on the calendar that you can, as to avoid conflicts with holidays and big school activities) Find at least one big project each month for your club and get each project on the calendar Plan however many fundraisers your school allows and being to allocate this money to your DCON fund. Create t-shirts for your club and offer the designs for sale at the beginning of the school year Plan at least one social event for your club each semester and get this on the calendar Print out your finalized calendar and put it up so everyone can see (especially officers). Every member should be able to plan ahead. If dates are subject to change, make a note of it on the calendar.

Fall Rally

Excited to start off the Key Club year? Join us at Texas-Oklahoma’s K-Family Day and Fall Rally 2015! Experience the absolute EXCITEMENT with our District at Six Flags over Texas. Meet other key clubbers that share the same passion for Key Club as you do whilst having the time of your life! Clubs will interact/team up with other clubs in the District and find out the theme of the next District Convention. In addition to these aspects, clubs will learn more about Key Club on the District and International level and also about the Governor’s and District Project! But wait… there’s more… Our event will be held during Six Flag’s annual FRIGHT FEST! When the sun goes down, the ghouls come out. Witness “the Awakening” as the park turns from “Thrills by Day” to “Fright by Night”. Check out Six Flags’ spooky haunted houses and their scare zones– this year with more ghouls than ever before.

During K-Family Day and Fall Rally, all KFamily attendees will meet at 10:30 AM at the Southern Palace for our Rally. With exciting games, rivalry groups, and much more, you don’t want to miss it! After the Rally, your club is free to enjoy all of the park’s attractions. Not only will clubs get to spend the day in the thrilling theme park, but they will also get to attend at a low price. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to experience interacting with other key clubbers, gathering as a district to hear the release of the next year’s District Convention theme, and much more. Register now! You can register on the T-O Website!

FTC

DATE TBD FTC stands for Fall Training Conference. At this conference, I along with other lieutenant governors will provide you with some excellent training for you to begin your career in Key Club. We help experienced and inexperienced officers and members. We train everyone in their positions. FTCs are a wonderful way for you not only to learn more about Key Club and gain training in your position, but to meet other Key Clubbers in our area. Division 28 is massive and I cannot stress enough how amazing it is to be connected. We are a family and it’s time we started acting like one. Inviting other clubs to your service projects and doing things together makes us a larger family. Make friends with other members of different clubs and grow our family even more! Some of my greatest friendships were created through Key Club. Honestly, Key Club has given me more friends than I can count. Key Club has become a family for me in many ways. I love Key Club. I wouldn’t trade my Key Club family for another. This year’s FTC’s date has yet to be determined, but I will make sure that you get the dates immediately.

Every officer is required to be at the FTC. I understand that conflicts come up, but if your conflicts are not legitimate, that will be noted. Just don’t plan on not being there. Make an attempt to be there. This is your job as an officer. You were elected to be an officer and to make a difference. If you don’t have the responsibility to attend a conference designed to make you a better officer, are you really doing your constituency a service? I think most of us would say certainly not. I know that you do not know the date yet but I will make an attempt to schedule them when the SATs and ACTs are not going on. No one wants to make a compromise like that. Frankly, I’d choose the standardized test because it’s more immediate, so I understand. In the end though, it’s important you attend. Members should also attend. Every member and officer present is taken into consideration. I will be working with other LTGs to meet at this year’s FTC. I hope we can really grow as a division this year. I can’t wait to see all of you!

C.O.C.I.

Club Officer Contact Information

Presidents, Faculty Advisors, and Secretaries take note: The C.O.C.I. is the registration of your club’s officers with the district board. This gives the district board the ability to observe and contact you as an officer. It’s essential that last year’s officers are removed from the roster and the new officers are placed in their respective positions on the district website. It is very easy to change your C.O.C.I. from the past year. All you need to do is login at www.tokeyclub.com with your school’s information, then just click on the tab for members only. You can make the changes to your C.O.C.I. here. It is pertinent that this is completed. Please include all of your officers. It will take a grand total of about five to ten minutes to change all of the officers information. Please complete this immediately. All other officers: if the following officer positions mentioned in the previous paragraph are not completing the task of filling out the C.O.C.I., please contact them immediately and let them know that this issue needs to be handled promptly. Still, if no conclusion is being reached, please contact me personally and I will contact your club to have this matter settled. All Officers: Division 28 is getting off to a great start and this needs to be handled before summer really kicks into full force. I hope the completion of the C.O.C.I. is not a challenge. If you have difficulty filling out the online information or finding the online information once logged in, I will gladly guide you through the process. Please just text me or give me a call, thanks!

Divisional Project

There will be more information coming up regarding the divisional project, but this year, we will be pursuing a teen jean drive. Essentially, we will collect jeans from our members and donate them to homeless teens who may not be able to afford a new or good pair of jeans. It’s actually fairly astounding how many teens are homeless in our modern time. I can’t imagine growing up on the street or without knowledge of whether I’d have a warm bed to return to at night. Security is so important to a person’s development, so if we can provide them something to comfort them, then we should do just that. Essentially, we will collect both male and female jeans from all of our members. It will be fairly simply. I will provide specific instructions, that way all of us can follow the same procedure that will go on through specific dates. I don’t want this to a big task on any of us, as jeans can become physically heavy in large quantities. I will have more information on this by the end of September. I’m sure we will talk in depth about more of the statistics regarding homeless teens and this teen jean drive at the FTC. Another reason why the FTC is so important. If you have any questions or suggestions for the drive, please email me about it. Don’t ask me specific questions or details because I cannot release that information until I am 100% sure of the path I will be taking in the implementation of this project. I hope you’re excited! I sure am! This project should be a little easier to grasp than last year’s. I know it was a little difficult to find projects to do with last year’s awareness of gender inequalities in society. Feel free to use the hashtag once we officially begin the project. #TeenJeanDrive2015

UNICEF + Visits

Don’t forget about Trick or Treat for UNICEF Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF began in 1950 as a way to help kids who need more than candy. Since then, children all over America have gone door-to-door on Halloween with UNICEF collection boxes, calling out, "Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF!" They have raised more than $175 million for the U.S. Fund for UNICEF since 1950. Please make sure to plan a project around Halloween for this for your clubs! ALSO IMPORTANT REALLY IMPORTANT QUESTION FOR YOU ALL Visits. When would be a good time for me to visit your club? Club presidents please email me the days, times, and locations your clubs. Also please inform me of when you think the best time for me to visit would be. I need to visit all of you so please email me about this! I visited Ball High School already; however, I plan on visiting again, since I only visited an officer meeting. I want to visit a full member meeting. I can also give a presentation or talk about something related to Key Club if you would like, but I will need a good amount of notice, so please give me that. If you want me to speak, let me know well in advance and tell me the specific topic. Again, I’m super excited for this school year. I know we have some amazing officer and so many of you have the potential of being in the top 25, if you would apply your clubs. You only get to do this once in high school, so do it right. Let’s go help some people.
