Renovations are complete on the owner’s lounge in the ski lodge, the Summit Club, and we are receiving wonderful feedback from owners. NEW POLICY

KEY RELEASES As an owner, you have the option to allow friends or family to use your reservation.

In order to allow a guest to check in to your reservation, you will submit a key release form, which is a written authorization allowing your guest to check in.

Please note the new policy, which took effect in July 2021: Owners will receive (1) free key release per year, per contract (account). For a second key release received in that same calendar year, the cost will be $20.00.

For any additional key releases received in that same calendar year, the cost will be $50.00 per key release.

INDUSTRY NEWS Massanutten is consistently made aware of companies that defraud owners like you out of thousands of dollars with the promise of selling or renting their timeshare.

These companies typically claim they can sell/rent your timeshare, allege they have a ready buyer/renter and usually charge large upfront fees. There are also relief companies which typically claim that you can be released from your contract and/ or relieved of your annual maintenance/assessment fees.

Some of these companies even allege they have a relationship with Massanutten.

ANNUAL DUES At the end of each year, the Board of Directors sets your Association’s budget for the coming year. Even though your account is billed once a year, you are welcome to make partial payments leading up to your due date. This can ease the burden of a one-time payment.

TRAVEL PROTECTION A Key Part Of Every Vacation One of the most common questions asked these days is, “How can I better protect myself against events that might disrupt our vacation?”

Fortunately, we have a solution with our new travel protection, with improved benefits to address the needs of timeshare owners. For $89 per reservation, you can purchase it with ease.

Subject to plan terms and conditions, here are just 5 of the numerous components in the plan you may value: 1. TRIP CANCELLATION: Most people don’t realize that an unexpected medical issue like a sickness or injury, is the #1 reason people cancel vacation. Whether they occur to you, a family member, or even a traveling companion.

Our travel protection covers over 30 reasons for trip cancellation, including the death of your pet. Travel protection can reimburse your lost maintenance dues and fees for a covered cancellation, including prepaid and non-refundable airfare, lift tickets, or greens fees incidental to your trip with us.

2. TRIP DELAY: Unfortunately, airlines are delayed more than we like, and it’s usually due to extreme weather events, at any time of year. 3. MEDICAL FINANCIAL PROTECTIONS: Our travel protection can provide you with Emergency Accident and Sickness Medical Expense coverage worldwide, for covered accidents or sicknesses that might occur, from serious events requiring hospitalization, to minor incidents like stitches.

4. RENTAL CAR PROTECTIONS: If you rent a car, our travel protection automatically includes a benefit for Rental Car and Theft Damage on a primary basis, which may help remove some worry about physical

SUMMIT CLUB NEW! Owner's Lounge

We are excited to announce that the renovation and redesign of the Owner’s Lounge in the ski lodge is complete. Located on the top floor of the lodge the “Summit Club” offers a great way for owners and their guests to relax, recharge, and soak in all the mountain has to offer.

The top to bottom renovation included new flooring, seating, lighting, artwork, updated fireplace, and a lighted focal wall. Make sure you check it out on your next visit to the Resort.

COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS TURKEY BOWL GOLF TOURNAMENT The 9th Annual Massanutten Resort Turkey Bowl Golf Tournament was held Saturday, November 13 at the Mountain Greens GC. Each participant was asked to bring a 10 lb. turkey, which would be donated, to EAUS (Elkton Area United Services) to help feed families in the local area. We are proud to say we were able to donate 92 turkeys with a total weight of 1,477 pounds!! These turkeys were given out on Friday, November 19 to help feed families in the local area!! We were able to surpass our previous record of 72 turkeys. We look forward to growing the event even bigger next year!!

BLOOD DRIVE We held a blood drive on November 10 and collected 30 units of blood. Every unit of blood can help save a life!

RESORT WIDE CLEAN-UP DAY On November 11, the Resort held it’s fall Resort Wide Clean-Up Day. There were five different clean-up crews with 56 employee volunteers.

We always want the Resort to look it’s best for our owners and guests.

HOLIDAY TOY DRIVE Massanutten WaterPark partnered with Elkton Area United Services to collect toys this holiday season! We gave (2) $10 Off General WaterPark Admission vouchers to every person who brought an unwrapped toy valued at $10 or more. We were able to give EAUS over 118 toys for needy families in our area!

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CARD Operation Christmas Card was a huge success this year. Our employees signed and delivered 708 Christmas cards to local retirement/nursing homes!

Enjoy a recipe from our very own Chef Mike Rittenour, named 2020 Virginia Chef of the Year at the VRLTA Ordinary Awards.

Pumpkin Spice Butternut Squash • • • • • • • •

2 lbs of butternut squash 1/4 cup melted butter 1/8 tsp nutmeg 1/8 tsp cloves 1 tsp ginger 1 tsp cinnamon 1/8 tsp all spice 3/4 cup brown sugar

Peel, seed, and cube squash (seeds maybe retained for roasting). Melt butter and mix with spices and brown sugar. Combine all. Place in casserole dish. Cover with aluminum foil. Bake in a 350 degree preheated oven for 40 minutes. Then brown under broiler.

You can choose to coat seeds with ranch dressing mix and vegetable oil then brown on 350 degree for about 10 to 15 minuntes. Watch closely as they are done one minute and burnt the next.

ABOUT THEIR STAY AT THE NUTT® We have so many memories at Massanutten. The 3-5 course cooking class, ping-pong, bowling, golf driving range, put-put golf, visiting wineries, bike riding, hiking, and most importantly, being at Massanutten with great friends and family. The most memorable occasion for me was bowling in the game area. I was never a good bowler. However, this day, I bowled strike, after strike, after strike.

Another group of visitors asked me if they could film me bowling…I’ll never forget how exhilarating that was!!! Although simple in nature, what a memory!!! - Harold

We bought three timeshares (spring, summer, fall) to enjoy and leave for our three children. We have many wonderful memories there. Our grandchildren also enjoyed many wonderful vacations. What is one standout guest memory you have?

In 20 years of working at Massanutten, I’ve had a lot of great experiences with our guests but the one that sticks out most right now was the time I was setting up some skis for a guest on a less than ideal snow day and asked what brought him to Massanutten from Colorado. He told me he was in town visiting family but had grown up skiing at Massanutten. As we talked about some of the changes around the resort and reminisced about some Massanutten legends we’ve both known over the years, he also knew a person I used to ski with 20+ years ago when I lived in the Northeast because they had spent a couple years working together at the same ski area in Colorado! It was a fun and completely unexpected connection and trip down memory lane. - Bill I rode the chairlift with a 14-year-old boy visiting from Norfolk. He asked me some questions about how we make snow and luckily, I’m pretty knowledgeable on the subject. This young man was so excited to learn about all the science behind it. He then had some questions about snowboarding. I did a run with him and gave him a mini-lesson. He was beyond stoked! - Philip

What better way to celebrate 50 years of skiing at The Nutt® than to highlight some of our staff in the ski area. They always work hard to provide the best experiences for our owners and guests whether that is with one-on-one contact during ski instruction or behind the scenes making and grooming snow. Meet some of the team in the ski area.

How would you describe Massanutten in one word?

Camaraderie. Working in the ski area and bike park we’re often working on tight deadlines between seasons and trying to work around or through the weather, but all the departments come together to help each other out get things accomplished in those short windows of time. - Bill Diverse. What do you enjoy about your position at Massanutten?

I sincerely enjoy helping guests to enjoy their time out here in the mountains. I love where I live, and I know that it is a breath of fresh air for so many to come out and enjoy time with their family and friends. To be able to get a guest out on the snow from my position at the reservation desk OR to be on the snow teaching them to ski, is gratifying.

My greatest joy on the snow is seeing the light come over the face of the child who takes that first unassisted slide, and says, “I did it!” - Louise

I love the ability to help guests that have run into issues, have had a bad experience, or sometimes just need a hand. It is a great feeling to be able to help a guest and to see the amount of relief in people eyes when things just work out. - Ben

To me there’s no better way to spend a nice day than being outside and I love that I have a job where I get to help people go outside and have fun whether it’s on skis, snowboards, or mountain bikes because when I’m not working, I’m usually trying to go play outside. - Bill

Working full time year-round here at Massanutten in two very busy departments keeps the job interesting, not every day is the same. I enjoy interacting with our owners. They become like family, I have returned owners every year asking how my kids are doing. - Jason

Massanutten Resort Owner & RCI Member Spotlight Wonderful vacation to Aruba. Great experience lots of memories …we had a full week of family fun and laughter and friends celebrated with us as well.

My husband and I were there celebrating our 5-year wedding anniversary as well so that was a plus. We went all-inclusive which I would highly recommend with the cost of Aruba’s food and being pricey but we had a great trip and we would definitely recommend it and do it all over again.
