Additional Announcements Update on member Here is an update from Nancy Dobey regarding Alta Sargent –

As many members know, Alta fell while on vacation at her daughter's house and fractured her pelvis in two places. Her injury did not require surgery. Her prognosis is great and she is recovering at a facility that is designed to get people back to independent status. She is doing daily physical therapy. She is now walking with a walker. At this time it is not sure when Alta will be able to return to Macomb –perhaps by late October? Alta enjoys hearing from us and is happy to get email and cards. Her family shares that they appreciate all wishes and prayers. Let’s all try to send get-well wishes to Alta! You can contact her a variety of ways --

“Just a minute with a member” Each month we will feature a Macomb Altrusan - to learn a little bit more about each other!

Say Hello to Karen Trusley, Chair of the Membership Committee - our featured member of the month! Karen – tell us a little bit about yourself… I came to Macomb officially in January of 2006 to pursue my MS in Sport Management here at WIU. I grew up in Carthage and obtained my BA in Communication and Rhetorical Studies from Illinois College.

What type of work have you done? I have worked in childcare centers, in college admissions, senior care, and most recently in HR at WIU. I have volunteered in the past with Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Best Buddies.

What do you like to do for fun? I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.

How did you get involved with Altrusa? Sara Featherlin invited me when I was at the Bazaar last year and I came for one meeting and was hooked:)

How have you been involved with Altrusa? I have worked at the bazaar, attended national conference, served on the communication committee and currently I am in the role of membership chair.

What do you like best about being a member of Altrusa? Meeting amazing women who are involved in the community and are willing to do service projects that better the Macomb area and those in it. Giving back of our time is truly rewarding.

Tell us one surprising thing about you! I was accepted to the University of Australia at Perth to study abroad for the second semester of my senior year at IC and I had the chance to graduate early, buy a car, and come to grad school in Macomb- well, we see what I chose :).

Would you like to be in the next “Just a minute with a member”? Who will be our next featured member? Be like Karen this month!  answer the 6 questions like she did  send me a photo @ hrmunro@yahoo.com That’s all there is to it and you could be in our next newsletter!
