Thank you to the Auckland, New Zealand club for sharing this banner and description! What do the colors of Altrusa's logo mean: The tallest line (banner, ribbon, or path) is the new deeper shade of blue. Picture the color of the oceans linking lands around the globe (think Bermuda, New Zealand, and Puerto Rico), and representing the worldwide nature of Altrusa. It is like the crest of a wave and used for the highest arch representing the International organization. The much darker shade of blue grey is symbolic of the wave base; the depth and foundation of the sea which represents the clubs and districts that make up the Altrusa organization. They are parts of the same whole, only together do they make the letter “A”. The golden colored banner represents ASTRA, youths 12-25, Altrusa’s treasure and our future. The brilliant red line, a very special one, is the color of the heart and strength of Altrusans. It represents all those to whom Altrusa is important; our members, our communities, and those with whom we partner. Together we are “Leading to a Better Community” wherever we live.

KEEP ON SUPPORTING LITERACY!!!
“Just a minute with a member” Each month we will feature a Macomb Altrusan - to learn a little bit more about each other!
Say Hello to Cindy Roon, President Elect and our featured member of the month!
Cindy, tell us a little bit about yourself! I was born in Lakewood, Ohio, just outside of Cleveland. We lived in the Cleveland area through junior high, when my father was transferred to the Chicago area. We then lived in Mt.Prospect, Illinois and I attended John Hersey High School. I fell in love with WIU when I came down to visit my sister & her fiance who was attending here. I met my husband through my old roommate, and after living downtown Chicago, we got the opportunity to be transferred back to this area. As we were expecting our second son, we were thrilled to be returning to Macomb to raise our family. Page 11 of 12
What type of work have you done? I have held many different jobs, including secretary, orthodontist assistant, worked with foster parents at DCFS, case aide at Lutheran Social Services and for the past 19 years as a BSW at WIU.
Tell us about your involvement with Altrusa? I have loved being a part of Altrusa. The women there are warm and I love working together to make a difference in our community and our world. They share the same ideals that I try to live by. Thank you Nancy Dobey for inviting me to become a member!
