Additional Announcements Holiday Service Project --Mosaic Holiday Gift Bags On Dec. 5th we will be assembling our Holiday bags for the Mosaic clients. These are gift bags filled with an assortment of small items. It is our way to share holiday cheer and reach out to the community during the holiday season. Every member is responsible for bringing items to stuff into the bags. Remember EVERYTHING has to fit into ONE small lunch-size sack per recipient! There are 90 clients – 7 of which are diabetic – so bring 90 items – if candy, bring some sugar-free! Here are some suggestions from Rosalie and Lynn of the Service Committee for items to stuff in the bags: Go in together with another member for an item from a company like Oriental Trading, which shouldn't be too expensive,
We will be having the "candy poppers" donated by the 8th grade class at MJHS again this year. Combs, toothpaste, toothbrush, dental floss, nail clippers, notepaper, pencil, pen, pencil sharpener, shoe spoon, erasers, safety pins, paper clips, rubber bands, Scotch tape, picture frame, Christmas pin, ornament, and you can always ask a business that you use for a small item. Examples: shampoo from hotel or toothpaste from your dentist.
Dollar Tree (near K-Mart) has 40 pencil top erasers, 5-6 toothbrushes with cases, 36 emery boards and various other packaged items for $1.00. Think of something they would find handy or fun to have.
Some of the hard working Altrusa members at the Annual Bazaar – Nov. 10, 2012
Bazaar Follow-up from Nancy Dobey, Bazaar Kitchen Committee Chair
Kristi from the Macomb High School Kitchen found a pearl bracelet with a few purple stones on it with the kitchen laundry …I’m not sure where the basket was located… They thought someone from Altrusa might have lost it. Anyone missing what sounds like a pretty bracelet?
Also, does anyone remember –when we ran out of hamburger buns, how many packages of the kitchen buns did we use? AND did we have the right amount of hotdog buns?
Also, I have a bag of red & black potholders, towels, etc. that belongs to one of the members. And a plastic bag of different kinds of tea bags…both left from the Bazaar. Please let me know if these are yours.
Also, it would also be very helpful for each of us to do an assessment of how the kitchen/food/dining room/etc. operation went. What changes are needed to make it work better? What items are good? Etc….write it down now before we all forget….and turn it in to me.
