The Celocia building is created by the local architect Blanca Lieo and the prograsiv dutch office MDRDV. Completed I 2009. Located in one of the new cities around Madrid, the Celocia building is an innovative experiment in building affordable housing whit added value. Commissioned on a relatively small budget it still managed to offer an alternative version to the typical housing complex. 3. floor

As a contrast to the claustrophobic surrounding, that primarily consists of 6-8 storage apartment blocks the Celocia appears as a vertical city composed by stacks of horizontally orientated apartments units. The composition of the housing unit mimes that of a chessboard creating an continuous sting of shifts between mass and void. The gaps allow for openings, which is used as communal gardens. Each apartment has access to one of the padios. The openings allows for The housing block consists of smaller apartment units in various sizes, from three to six apartments. The building can be understood as units within units within a unit.
