It is my pleasure to welcome you to our new autumn and winter season which continues the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the theatre on Hanover Street. By sticking to tradition, we have a great variety of entertainment at the Epstein Theatre and I am pleased to announce a great line-up of comedy events this season. Continue reading to discover a range of comedy from the hilarious Bon Voyage to stand-up comedy with Gina Yashere and Stephen Lynch. This season we have something for the whole family with the introduction of our new Epsteinies children’s theatre with a range of shows for all ages from a ‘Wild West Party’ with The Singing Kettle, The Elephant Bridesmaid, We’re Going On A Bear Hunt and of course our annual Christmas Pantomine Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which are perfect for both children and parents alike. The Shakespeare Schools Festival works with 1000 secondary, primary and special schools all over the UK, making it possible for them to stage abridged Shakespeare productions in their local professional theatre. Each night four schools will perform four different Shakespeare plays. Don’t Stop Believing’ this October as LHK Productions bring together the very best performers from across Merseyside to celebrate the soundtrack of TV’s smash hit musical extravaganzas “Glee” , “High School Musical” and award winning musical-drama “Smash”. On 26th October music lovers across the region are invited to join the Über-talented LHK Youth Theatre at the Epstein Theatre and sing-a-long with the very best pop, rock and show tunes; all of which have been performed by McKinley High’s favourite ragtag band of misfits; East High’s popular students and the cast of Smash’s Marilyn Monroe inspired musical “Bombshell”.

Handel Furioso is a love story told through arias and duets, exploring a couple’s life together from childhood to old age. Two exciting young singers, Anna Starushkevych (Winner of the Handel Singing Competition 2012) and Robyn Allegra Parton (Kathleen Ferrier Award Finalist), appear in this production, directed by Max Hoehn. Acclaimed soloist, Julian Perkins, conducts the Sounds Baroque ensemble, following their much-admired recording of early cantatas. Featuring tracks from their latest album released in August 2012 at The Royal Albert Hall, each piece is performed with passion and flair. Encompassing many different musical genres, the quartet features the acoustic guitars of Stuart Carter-Smith and Will Barns plus award winning jazz violinist Ben Holder and Double bassist Paul Jefferies. OPEN DAY BRIAN’s BIRTHDAY

Each yeah we proudly open the theatre in celebration of Brian Epstein’s birthday. This year, on 19th September 2013 we will be having a special Birthday Tea for Brian in aid of MacMillan Cancer Research. Come down to the Epstein theatre and join in the celebrations with a cup of coffee and a range of cakes and treats from local suppliers. During the event there will be live bands and tours of the theatre. (All donations are in aid of Macmillan Cancer.)
